Levo Spaceport RPG

New Instanbul News
"Today the court of worlds condemned the Rebels actions, voting to side with the Confederation in a full alliance. Several worlds have made known they are considering plebiscite's to join the Confederation as full members following the Rebels actions of crushing an independant world.

"Zaxted Starport, known for keeping out of the war so far, trading with both sides, has announced they intend to join the the other free worlds to fight alongside the Confederation. Unofficial reports from other independant worlds have indicated unrest at the Rebellions actions, with fear that the same would happen to them.

"Incoming reports indicate that the Confederation has just entered the Levo system with its first fleet in order to free the system from occupation.

----

With flashes of light, 8 Confederate Cruisers entered the system, flanked by 20 Frigates. Unlike the Rebel ships, they already had targeting information, and torpedoes smashed into the Rebel Cruisers.

And from the other side of the system, the fleet of the Free Worlds entered the system. The local systems militia forces had finally entered the fray, on the side of the Confederation.

----
(OOC:I would not have fired my particle beam by the way, my engines are powerful enough)

Rivay cursed as the Rebel Cruiser appeare dnear him and opened fire. The chances of that happening where very slim indeed. As the automatic systems responded, the shield grid flickered, strength doubling in seconds. Afterburner went to automatic firing, pushing the scoutship ahead quickly, out of the Cruisers range.

Mantas shot off missiles at the scout ship, but Rivay was ready by then. Activating evqasive manuevers, and the advanced military ECM system, most of the missiles lost target lock, or went wide.

Deciding it was time to leave, Rivay activated his hyperspace engines and entered hyperspace, destination Rigel. He needed to pick something up.

(OOC: Okay, I'm confused here:

Levo intentionally extended the time of the "peace" talks with the Rebellion in order to gain more time in forming an alliance with the Confederation. The Rebellion dispatched RIB agents to the planet (it's not like both the Confederation and Rebellion don't do this already) to investigate, and then Levo tries to kill the captured agents so that they can't spread the word of Levo's plans. Levo has already decided to side with the Confederation, and thus they are the first to perform an act of war. A militia member decides to defect and rescue the RIB agents, but is captured by a mercenary while trying to escape the system. The Rebellion decides to dispatch a fleet to Levo in order to rescue these agents, but are unsuccessful. What exactly makes the Rebellion the "horrible evil bad guys" in this whole Levo deal? Once the RIB uncovered evidence that Levo had indeed joined the Confederation, then the Rebellion and Levo were automatically at war. Yeah, tons of Levo troopers were "murdered"... why? Because it's war, and it's about time for a few RIB agents to get off the planet before Levo decides to kill them and thus cover up everything. I would think after hearing all this, most independent systems would want to side against the Confederation... you certainly can't say that Levo did absolutely nothing wrong. They, in fact, are the wrong.)

= = = = = = = = = =

The Admiral of the Lethe Liberation Navy paced his large office and smiled at his reports. New Cydonia was now in their hands, and the war for water rights had finally come to a conclusion. Now attention was turning towards operations with the Rebellion against the core worlds.

"Have our Rebel friends completed the first prototype?" He asked his chief advisor who had just entered the room.

"Yes sir. I have with me the plans for our new craft. It will be the ultimate design for dogfighting and tactical combat."

"Indeed," the Admiral responded. "Our Defender fighters have grown far too obsolete to face the Confederation. I'm amazed at how quickly the Rebel Shipyard Industries fulfilled our requests - soon we will have a weapon far more powerful than before."

Bari was running down an argosy in his corvette in the fringes of the Spica system. He sighed as the chase drew to its inevitable conclusion, and the argosy burst into a million fragments. He had run down countless others like it, and was getting quite sick of the whole thing. His thoughts were interupted by a concussion on the right hull that shook the whole ship.
"Report!" Bari ordered.
"Readings show evidence of a missile strike sir, shields holdi-" he was interupted by another concussion, on the left this time. "Shields at 74% sir!"
The radar operator called "Sir, we're reading 2 pairs of Confederate Patrol Ships coming in from either side of us!" It appeared that the Confeds had heard of his piracy activities and tracked him to Spica. Bari smiled, but there was no warmth in his smile, only a terrible evil. The patrol ship leader hailed him
"This is Confederate Law Enforcement group 26A-4. We are here to arrest you on multiple charges, including piracy, murder, and evasion of law enforcement officials. Lower your shields and prepare to be boarded". They moved in closer, and Bari lowered the shields, but little did they know how quickly the shield booster could raise them again.
It was only a minute or so, but it seemed like hours until the leader lined up against his ship. That's as close as they would get.
"Ensign, full throttle, and engage the missile jammers!" The confeds tried to follow, but quickly fell behind. After they had used their missiles, only 2 had hit, and shields were holding at 60%. Now the time came to turn the tables. The extremely agile corvette dodged in and out of proton cannon range, wreaking havok on the tightly formed patrol ships. In only 2 passes, 3 were down, and the remaining pilot fled to spread the news back to its base of operations. Unfortunately for the pilot, it wsas hunted down by a squad of mantas quickly speeding towards Bari's ship.
"Corvette, we have been ordered to escort you back to Spica so our leader can speak with you."
Bari had nothing against the Rebels, so he went along with them to Spica to see what this leader wanted...

Seven Kestrels rose silently into the atmosphere of Levo. The militia ships found no reason to stop the fleet. As the Kestrels neared hyperspace range, the Nirvana launched a hyperspace travel capable probe, which headed for the Zebetrious system. The Kestrels, however, headed for Palshife.

(SilverDragon, I'd appreciate if you'd post what the probe finds in the Zebetrious system, if you don't mind.)

"Commander, I'm picking up a Rebel squadron approaching our location..."

Squadron No. 13 had been on patrol in the Deneb system for three days. The mission had been a boring one, having only found one pirate clipper during that time. The six patrol ships and four gunboats continued in their circular patrol perimeter.

"Oh Lord, they're moving fast," the commander quickly replied with shock in his voice. "These targets are moving faster than Mantas!"

Just as the patrol was turning into battle formation to face the four Rebel fighters, an extremely heavy concentration of energy fire errupted, instantly tearing two of the patrol ships to space dust. The gunboats began to fire off missiles at the enemy ships, but to the shock of the Confederation pilots, the speed of the missiles couldn't catch any of the fighters.

"They're coming around at the sides! Prepare for a flank attack!"

The fighters, which the target scans revealed as members of the L.L.N, lashed again at the squadron with incredible agility and speed. Huge clouds of laser fire and heavy disruptor beams slammed into the Confederation fighters. After the second pass, only two patrol ships and two gunboats remained.

The commander, whose ship was heavilly damaged, knew he couldn't beat these Lethe fighters.

"Pull out of the system!"

The two gunboats were blown to pieces while they tried to jump out of the system, and the commander's vessel was also destroyed. The last patrol ship was just beginning his hyperjump when the two fighters rushed it from behind, finishing off the last remaining fighter in the patrol squadron. The speed and execution of the attack had caught the Confederation completely by surprise. The new disruptor cannons had proved devestating, as did the speed of the new ships.

(OOC:

• Levo at no point declared war upon the Rebellion. You only had a rumour that they were involved with the Confederation.
• The Rebellion destroyed Levo's entire fleet out of nowhere. The general Levo populace, may I add, would know nothing of what was going on, except that the Rebels had suddenly decided to attack them.
• The Rebellion attempted to assassinate the Levo prime minister.
• The Rebellion implanted spies onto Levo. More to the point, they were caught doing it. This is an act of war.
• Levo takes hostile action against hostile invaders (the Rebel agents.) There is nothing there that is morally wrong. They do not kill at all; they put them in prison, which is more than fair consider an act of war was made by the Rebellion at this point.
• The Rebels broke out of prison and killed numerous Levo guards. This is also a despicable act, for evading the course of justice.
• Even to this point, the Rebellion cannot prove that Levo was siding to the Confederation before your acts of war.
• Considering that Levo was attacked for no reason, and many people were killed by the Rebellion, and the Rebellion was caught with agents capable of genoicide on Levo, the Rebellion are in the wrong, massively. You just threw the Rebel's "good guy" card away, and handed the Confederation all the Independant worlds; not to mention almost crippling your own government. The Rebel citizens believe in things, and you just went against all of that. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rebellion simply collapsed.

A major problem with this becoming a proper "webstory": the rules allow for unprecented control over the enemies, and no moderation system exists (as you saw with Staron, he could get away with a post full of nothing but bull****) to stop me or you from saying that the war ended; in our next post. In your case, that would be hilarious, in the case of the Confederation, it would probably be quite realistic, considering what you just had the Rebels do (kill innocent civilians, attempt assassination, etc.)

And my next post really does it for you.)

Javaed was over the moon. He had thought things had been going well before; but now the Rebellion had made the stupidest of slips. They had helped Lethe attack and dominate Cydonia. Ha! It was the worst minefield to throw yourself into. The Confederation, and the Great Court at New Istanbul, had both chosen to stay out of the Lethean-Cydonian war. The reason was quite simple; both the Letheans and the Cydonians had conclusive proof that their war was right.

Lethe claimed that the Cydonians demanded their water simply because they didn't have any. Their own argument had the major hole in it that they refused to trade; they claim, however, the Cydonians went to war instead of asking to trade. The argument was poor, but believed by many of the masses.

Cydonians claimed that Lethe Prime had once been their world homeworld, beautiful Cydonia, and that during the Great Expansion, they had allowed the Letheans to share the world with them. However, the Letheans were not satisfied - they were constantly wanting more, and more. Eventually, the militaristic Letheans drove the Cydonian people from their world, and left them to search out a new world, which was a desolate planet they named New Cydonia. No-one in their right mind would colonise New Cydonia. Anyone with half a brain - everyone who can think - realises that the Cydonians were forced there. The Cydonians do not pretend that the Letheans started the war; they are proud to say that they begun the war to take back what was theirs. Cydonia.

The independant worlds were, obviously, further annoyed by the Rebellion's actions. Speeches had been made, and the populations of many worlds began to understand what people higher up believed.

The Rebellion have lost it.

That was not all, of course. Zigra and Guiron, having been refused independance, had forced it. Dozens of Rebel ships had been driven out of their worlds, no muder done to the Rebels, although scores of civilians had been murdered. Both planets flatly refused to aid the Confederation, but said that they would remain apart. The riots had continued, also, and enough Rebel shipyards had been lost to lose all the advantage in taking Lethe - which was, Javaed thought, what they had done.

The only card that could ruin everything now was Javaed himself. The information in his brain, extracted by mind-probe, could neutralise the situation. Not turn it around: the Rebellion had still done murder, but make the independant worlds break off again and declare neutrality.

Javaed, however, was married - it wasn't something he found really important, of course. He hadn't married for love, but to solidify his place. He had to stay on Levo, though. If anything went wrong, he had to be on Levo. Javaed, a plain old engineer. Javaed, the puppet master of Levo, and soon the entire galaxy.

-----------------------

The probe entered Zebetrious, and scanned numerous pirate vessels - more than usual. The Black Halo was not to be seen, but their were ion trails from what could only be a Kestrel leaving the system. It appeared that there was nothing in Zebetrious other than what was to be expected.

Javaed is a colleague of Talsir, and Talsir is the unknown and undetectable Confederate advisor to the Levo government; therefore, he more or less has control of them. Did you completely ignore the post priar to that? I've been trying to go with this "no revoke" scheme, as odd as it seems, but you ignored everything mentioned in the post before. And if you don't want to read the posts in a story, then you shouldn't be in the story in the first place, now should you?)

Actualy I have noticed. and I have no reactions to any of my posts and have grown quite bored of this little rpg. I have no clue who Javaed is, nor did I see any post prior to what ever "that" is. I have seen no posts regarding any of mine other than that rather rude one you sent to me. You coem off as such a bully. Out of no where you come at me with this none sense about lasers and stuff, when I have no clue who you are or what right you have to critique me. I get no hello I am so and so, I just wanted to mention yadayadayada. You could be a more friendly and calm when you go about judging people JUDGE! You yell at me without giving any real reason. You realy could conduct yourself in a more kind manner, and until then I will refer strictly to the MAIN judge Tempest. and if you wish to interact with my posts, please put Staron, in bold letters so I will note it while skimming through the long boring posts.

(OOC: For the record, the first and only insults made have been by you. I find the fact you're getting on my back for not being very nice pretty funny. However , I see the problem, and considering you hadn't read what I'd posted, my post after would definately seem just a little bit odd, so my apologies for what its worth. I stll think you shouldn't be playing this if you don't have time to read everything: in a larger story, I can understand not reading the posts made by people who are too far away to effect you, but in an RPG like this, any post can effect anyone, so...if you can, please skim a bit closer - for example, the Levo government has not been letting anyone land without a full examination of identification and the vessel. It's in a post somewhere in three pages, mentioned briefly, but it's very important to a lot of people.

As for being seen as a bully, well, hopefully if you read the following extract, and look back a bit to the type of posts TheLonePenguin was making, you might understand why I was a little harsh in replying.

_There was another thing tickling Javaed. Somebody had tried to land without being noticed, his ship noted as the Chimera. The militia had been on him in a second, even without Javaed and Talsir gentling pushing them in the right direction. The place where even now the captain of the Chimera slept was being monitored by an elite anti-terrorism team. A device was set up at his door. When he opened it, it would trigger a sensor which would fire a laser which would knock him unconscious. If he tried the windows first, he would suffer the same fate. There was no way of avoiding the lasers, and no way of detecting them.

The anti-terrorism team had a lock on his vital signs that could not be broken, and they could not be seen or detected themselves without it being too late. Their vital signs were masked. If the man was knocked unconscious, he would find himself in a room with no doors, walls two metres thick, and a shoot that delivered a sloppy liquid meal. He would be stripped naked and searched while unconscious, and have nothing on him when he woke. He could not wake earlier; not from the laser._

Funny, I'll say, that the way you acted not knowing that I'd said this came together perfectly with what I'd said (which was why I thought you'd read this.) As for the extract itself, you can ignore it. Javaed has been trying to neutralise as many players as possible, including Luke, Skyblade, and Tempest, but since Skyblade has practically handed us victory, such precautions probably won't be necessary.

So in other words, you can forget all this as you wish, and I only hope you understand, somewhat, where I was coming from.)

( This is rediculous. We can't have even the simplest of webstories without someone causing a big fuss over nothing. I'm not mentioning any names, but certain people have ruined this completely. Some don't have a clue what's actually going on in the story and come up with loads of BS to justify themselves. Others take it too seriously and become convinced that the whole thing will be a waste of time if they don't "win." Some use the INN as their own personal lie-spreading network. If someone else is already using the INN they'll make their own "RNN" or "CNN" or "NTIN" or whatever. Or they'll just make up background information out of thin air if it helps them. Penguin was quite annoying and totaly wasted good posting space on the previous pages. I would read everything if people weren't so long winded. Who has the patience to sit there and skim through all those gigantic posts that draw on for a damned hour? I am sorry if half of them put me to sleep. Just because of what one person such as penguin types, doesn't mean you have to take it out on everyone else. As for the thing at the Inn. Ok I guess I am screwed. I'll just rewind a bit and kill Staron off in a very bloody and descriptive manner like I have done with so many of my characters on AOL. I am doing this because I have grown quite bored of this rpg, and this ooc bickering is getting no where, so without further edeu, I take you all back to the Inn.)

He arise from his bed, un expected of the fact anti terrorists had been here during the night. The windows and door trained with laser, he is trapped like a rat, but that of course is not to his knowledge.

The first thing he does is stupidly open the door to his room. This sends a signal to the device on the door which sends a laser hurling in his direction. Instead of knocking him uncosnious because lasers aren't designed to do that, it instead peirce straight through his chest and out to scorch the wall behind him. With it comes a steady flow of blood which spatter against the walls of his room.

He bring his hands to his chest to feel the wound and stagger back to trip onto his bed. The bed soon grow stained in a crimson red as his breath grow shallower and shallower. Within a matter of seconds, Captain Starwind is of no more.

Staron, if you cant listen to people without accusing them of bickering, why do you bother? Their is a reason more than one person can post.

And Skyblade....you saying that is rather funny. A quick poll shows you just below a certain someone else for doing anything to win. Made me laugh when I read your post, I have to say.

------------------
Hamster Dance---http://www.hampsterdance2.com/intro.html

(OOC: The problem is/was, Skyblade, that you and Tempest's "story" was on a scale that would change Levo in its entirety, and had nobody on "the other side." From the first two posts, there was no doubting that your plot was not one well suited to a story everyone was involved in - your plots involved entire navies, and the future of Levo. From the very start, it was obvious that this RPG was to be based around that lone plot for Levo to fall to the Rebellion. And from the rules and Tempest's own posts, it's quite obvious that the control of NPCs is down to the player. I'm not sure about RMA, but my intentions were to keep Levo from falling, because if it did, the RPG itself would become obsolete. Unfortunately, things escalated to a galactic scale; with you bringing in fleets from outside exceeding the 6 escort allowance and not controlled by Skyblade, with you developing a new über ship and new technologies, to which the rules had no system of moderation, and it became more and more obvious that with the fact that the player could control the actions of NPCs, such a galactic encounter would be disastrous. Considering what had already happened, and the sheer scale of your folly gave me a perfect opportunity to turn galactic events in one way. The sad fact is, the actions I said happened due to your folly were entirely realistic. You screwed up massively.

Luke; I'll act within the rules, and have not once broken them, unlike some people. I also fail to see how roleplaying a serious character is wrong. As for winning, that isn't/wasn't important to me. I had a plot ready for Javaed to sink into nothingness the moment a player vs. player spacefight came up, so I could judge neutrally. Unfortunately, even the judging rules were ignored when RMA attacked the escape corvette.

You can't make an RPG with multiple players where one or two players (like you, Skyblade) weave a plot to change the entire RPG. You definately can't do that and then turn around and be annoyed that the story is being taken too seriously. You made the story planetary, and it later became galactic. You started it.)

It's all well and good to talk about people accepting defeat with grace when you are the one coming out on top, but I'll bet that if the roles were reversed you would be singing a different tune.
