A Return to the EVO Webstory

If Ipvicus approves, I'll take command myself! How hard can it be? It isn't like I would make things impossibly biased in favour of United Earth...after all, that would make things too easy, and my characters would turn out to be wimps as a result of that. 😉

Visitor, I'd appreciate it if you'd edit your post. You may know about the Zidagar attacking the Igadzra, and the Miranu okay, but you don't know they hit the Azdgari.

That goes for basically everyone. As far as the Igadzra are concerned, they're being hit by two fairly small fleets, so they have no reason to suspect the Zidagar just threw everything they've got away. I'm in the best position to realise as I just got hit by almost half of what they've got, plus I have regular patrols into their space.

The Kyhaani Shipyards, in tribute to the legendary commander and briefly Master of the Azdgari, Tsarunis Edas Kyhaan, are to built in Dirach and will be the largest shipyards ever built by the Azdgari. However, there is one interesting catch to the Kyhaani Shipards -- they are to be the StrandÂ’s first mobile shipyard facilities.

The Kyhaani Shipyards will be built in the upper orbit of Dirach, in six distinct sections. Each section will be capable of detaching from the others and functioning independently, and each individual section is of a size and shape designed to fit into a hypercube. As each, six hypercubes will be taken aside from ordinary production for the Kyhaani Shipyards, allowing the entire massive complex to be fully mobile and carried, if required, within an Azdara.

The entire complex will construct one hundred and twenty Azdaras per RTD, and thirty Azdgari Aradas per RTD. The Kyhaani Shipyards do not include a Vakhys-chamber, so cannot create hypercubes (the only Vakhys-chamber was created as part of the Hypercube Project, on Xarnes.)

As the Kyhaani shipyards are built in six distinct sections, each section will take 3 RTDs to construct and will provide 1/6th of the construction of the entire complex.

While the complex will not particularly well-shielded, involved in its construction are 6 Escort-Azdaras. These will be removed from the Azdgari fleet. The Escort-Azdaras are simple modifications with more shield capacitors in place of all of their weaponry (~300% of the shielding of the normal Azdara but no weapons space.) These ships will be on standby in proximity to each section of the Kyhaani shipyards, and each will contain one hypercube. Therefore, the shipyards are ready to be teleported inside hypercubes contained in Escort-Azdaras under very short notice.

Azdgari Raider Outfitting
3 days.

A simple outfitting of Azdgari vessels. Using free space yet unused on Azdgari ships, Azdaras are modified to sport five swivel phase cannons, with some free space left over which may later be used to add larger engines. Azdgari Aradas will have their rear swivel phase cannons removed, as with Impulse drives they are now unnecessary. They will also have their dispersal rocket capabilities removed, as it is felt by the Azdgari that they are not useful, as they are almost incapable of passing the Igadzra PDS and are naturally limited in their ammunition. Replacing them, and using up further free space, the Azdgari Arada will sport eight swivel phase cannons, making it effective over a long time, and slightly more powerful at a close range than the Azdara. This factored in, the Azdgari AradaÂ’s close range firepower will match the IgaraÂ’s due to sheer number of phase cannons, but it lacks any sort of secondary weaponry.

Azdgari warships have not been modified, due to the restrictions of time.

Editing now, by your edict. The Igadzra just lost a third of their navy to you espy, an attack of even this magnitude could be devestating--especially if Innirian falls...

Yeah, but it'll be fine, the Igadzra are likely to hold him off. I'm a bit touchy about people knowing about the Zidagar attacking the Azdgari though, unless they have reason to know. I get the impression that in the next few days I'm going to really, really want nobody to know.

My other point was that while the attack on the Igadzra has hit them surprisingly badly (they had too many ships on my border!), it isn't enough to suggest to the Igadzra that the Zidagar are undefended. There's a lot of what-we-know and what-we-don't-know goin' on right now.

I don't know about the attacks on the Igadzra or Miranu... I'll probably learn about the attacks on the Miranu soon (Thunder told me on AIM that he's messaging Raigar, or that his message in his post included Raigar, something like that), but I won't learn about the attacks on the Igadzra unless either the Zidagar or the Igadzra tell anyone who'll tell me.

The Zidigar offensive has solid confirmation on two fronts: the Igadzra and Miranu Borders, it would be logical to assume that the Zidigar at least have something planned for the Azdgari. Nobody can breach the heavy Zidigar ECM (yet) and so no-one knows the true extent of the fleet sizes. With such a bold assault it would be wise to at least counter-thrust to prevent another wave from keeping us under siege, at which point we may indeed learn of the Zidigar's folly to its fullest extent. Technically we don't know yet but we invariably will.

PS don't think I don't have contingency plans against Azdaras with dospect espy 😉

Well if we want to get into that, I'm annihilating Feviry about a day after the Zidagar offensive is finished (have been planning to do so for some time now). Vakhys' research is also two projects off a weapon which, by real physics, is twice as effective against armour than shielding. It's a surprising turn for Strand technology but has been prerequisited by all my subdimensional research to date.

Ipvicus can't post until at the least Tuesday, and he's asked me to tell everyone that until he returns, construction and R&D is stalled (and pushed back 3 days to when he disappeared.)

The reason for this is prevent the Zidagar from surviving their suicide attack by having rebuilt enough ships to survive by the end of it, and to prevent people upping their technologies in the meantime or... Something like that anyway.

I'm going back to my posts to cancel my R&D and fleet construction over the past three days.

I'm not too happy about this either, by the way.

Ah-Ha! I found a loophole!

Places not under attack by...well an attack...are semi-exempt from this real-time nonsense. Places under attack cannot construct ships at the battle site, but there is nothing preventing a distant shipyard from producing. Tech can continue to research until the initial confrontation, but implementing it must wait till after combat. Because my gov. is only preparing to aid the Igadzra I, for example, would be exempt from this nasty time-parodox until the initial confrontation. Espy. can still builld ships, as Azdgari is not yet under direct attack, but cannot send them in as reinforcements until the battle subsides. Ipvicus is slowing the whole webstory down by bringing the crecent into 'real time' then neglecting to post often. Real-time only works when the battle lasts only a short while--we've been waiting out Ipvicus' neglectted turn and are subsequently falling behind the rest of the galaxy. If the battle is not ended by the end of the week then so-called "Real-time" is revoked perminately. When real-time is in play the webstory prrogresses no faster than the slowest poster. At the very least we need more moderators; preferably impartial non-players to make unbiased descisions. We've got a great webstory here, and everybody is rather active compared to the participants of its predicessors--save Ipvicus himself, ironically.

I'm afraid that doesn't apply this time. That's the system I was going off (I was listing my ships as being in limbo and would have them appear once the battle was over), but Ipvicus has requested that we do it this way. Then again, to be fair, if four people all post here asking that we cancel it, let's go with it.

Calling real-time on all Strand and Miranu territory is difficult enough when all the players are present. I think that a temporary pause in development might be beneficial, it would also allow a bit of back looking negotiation and some character development possibility. However, I can see that it would be incredibly inconvenient for the players that actually have momentum.

If not removing real-time I would certainly push for limitations: If a player goes into real-time just after pulling ahead of thine enemies that would be considered abuse of the rule. Keeping players in real-time for lengthy periods would be abuse of the rule. Players unaffected by real-time attacking players who are is downright annoying--not to mention grossly cheap. If real-time goes on for more than a week then it is immediately halted. More than 3 infractions and a player's right to bring another player into real-time will be suspended.

Any thoughts? Comments? Flames?

Seems kind of overly complex. I'd just kipperslap anyone who's making a mess out of it.

Strict-time has become a major issue in this story already. Firstly when RMA attacked the renegades, with the idea of being home soon, but because of delays ended up still out there many days later, leaving the big question "Is his fleet back at Outpost Zachit in time or not?"

Secondly, Ipvicus has frozen a lot of us because we're in the middle of battles here. It isn't just a strict-time issue though. Carno's being attacked Innirian. Of course we can't assume he's building lots of ships during the battle, but he's built 9 Igazras there by now... Also, I have a character in Molar (he'll die, actually, but still) so until the battle is over, there's nothin' I can do with that character.

Awful mess really. It was okay when it was just a case of "please respect the fact that if I hit you here, you can't find out about it and launch an attack here straight away before I actually would get back". It's got a bit convoluted.

As I am DEAD, I will be a moderator if one is needed. Unless I misinterpreted Esponer's post?

And if my vote still counts, I vote with Espy and the rest of you to continue with the story and not get bogged down.

asriel, would you like to play an independent? There are plenty more Strandless worlds to choose from if you want (and the moderators allow it). There is also a fleet of Renegades that disappeared into nowhere. You'd start with a significant tech disadvantage, but at the moment it's pretty safe down at the South Tip so you could probably make up for it.
