The EV board, what a amazing place for a fanatic to return to after months of absence. I assume you need (or want) more people to join so if you are willing I will drop in and join, though don't expect daily posts. I am willing (and happy) to take minor roles or major roles. Edit: Visitor is Desert Tempest correct? If you are I agree that Unreal has had problems in the past but as long as he is not in any position with power I believe in second chances./Edit Fare ye well, The Paranoid One

For grammatical correctness, Unreal, it would be proper to say "Thou art..." As a warning I have seen what happens to webstories which are over-planned, remember EV:Frontiers? We worked very hard and by the time it was started no one cared. I recommend a quick start and minor details can be worked out, whether I am allowed to join or not.

I agree. Set the rules and start.

From what I see you don't have anyone playing a pirate fleet or system. I will gladly take the position if it is available, or any other position for that matter. I would also like to mention that the Confederation didn't exist at the time of the first alien attack, so unless you are having the attack after EVC time. You might consider dividing the Confederation into three or four different segments who have strained relations or are openly at war.
After reading BFSI (I previously read III and have yet to read II) I decided to put in more unwanted advice. First I noticed that BFS lasted as long as it did mainly because of the fact that players got along. I found that staggering, have been in four or five webstories and everyone has had attempted cheating and scheming (Unreal Centipede playing as two governments under two names) that would not be remedied as well as hatreds forming (ie Unreal Centipede and Xenocide or UC and Desert Tempest). On the other hand for the first five pages the plot was thin and the only thing of interest were the battles, no interesting politics or anything. After a while the players felt their way and started to really think and play more freely. I guess that wasn't really advice but more observations and quite boring to read. Basically the point is get along and relax, that is what history teaches us.

What was the name of the other guy? If it was "The Lich King" that was me.

So, what are the rules and when are we gonna start? How's this for a few rules: Every person may only play one main character (multiple user names prohibited) You may not control another person's character (unless your char is involved in dialogue & no major decisions are made for them) Only one post per day (small ammendments are okay) You must wait three (3) real-time days for a person to respond to a battle (then a mod can play for that character) Posts cannot be extremely long (if it takes you more than six minutes to reread it, then people may lose interest) Posts cannot take more than one week of in-game time (any longer and characters could be weeks ahead of other characters)
These are just some that I thought of. They could be used, or altered, or just forgotten about. It depends on whether or not the mods like them.

Sounds good, except that in the Battle of 1812 Luke didn't descend from a neighboring post and help out a sleeping soldier.
I think if three days have passed without an excuse accepted among the majority of the players, than it should be possible for the player to continue action in that system/battle.

Well, whatever.

In other words a capital ship could only make two jumps in a real time day?
Only one post per day (small ammendments are okay)
What about battle related posts, exchanging blows quickly seems more realistic if you want to move on to another situation. Then again it does clutter the boards excessively sometimes...
I assume everyone knows and assumes this but just in case. There is never any use of OOC knowledge in the webstory.
In case anyone is incredibly annoyed by my self-righteous know-it-all behavior I apologize, but I welcome correction or criticism on anything I say.
