Would it be possible to partition off part of a hard-drive with 10.2 Jaguar, thereby avoiding all of the the Panther problems with Coldstone?
But whhat about the Jaguar problems... jaguar brought its own list of issues most infamous, inability to write new .sav files.
such a thing is a solution for a developer, but not a solution for a endUser. Also unless something's changed you can't partition a live drive, ie
you have to back up your multi-gigabyte drive ( something I did this sunday, onto 18 CDs ) then partition ( a not too well known process ) when clean installing ( resituate, reconfigure )
The best solution is to let them run crappy in Panther under Classic ( unless of course you're computer didn't come with 9 installed or isn't available ) Or just classic only.
Or very ironically let them run windows exclusive.
I wonder what the daily conversion rate to new systems isΕΌ I do know that Apple is dropping classic support on new systems by or before 2005. tick-tock.

Partioning a drive with 10.2 would be a pain (beyond just getting it done). You'd never want to use it, as the feeling of downgrading gets harder to stomach as you grow to like 10.3 more... In addition, I usually do a lot of different things at once, and having to do them a different way (and without expose!!) wouldn't be that fun. Now for a developer, this MIGHT be ok. But think about it for a gamer. A whole partition on their drive for one game? Is it really worth it?
Basically, it's a good concept, but you couldn't actually apply it, as it wouldn't be practical.

Good theory. But that won't help the panther users at all, and our numbers are growing every day.

You'd still have to reboot the computer into 10.2 (or 10.1, for that matter, which would also avoid the 10.2 save file problem) in order to run it.
I've done that sort of thing with OS 9 (back in the early days of OS X when there were a number of games incompatible with Classic), and while it works, it's tedious and annoying to have to do.

No. We are going to wait for an update, even if it takes forever. At least, I will.
Note to Rubber Ducky: You said that you didn't like IMG tags, but I didn't want to post a URL tag because I didn't want just ANYONE to see the URL for that image. I have my reasons. Other mods allow them, otherwise they wouldn't exist.

So what's this?
No offense Lifeknight, but RD is still a mod, and I think everyone gets the idea. I think people should show off what the have done thus far in some part of their games. Honestly, we should have either a monthly or yearly (depending on whoever wants to show up and show off) and show what they have so far. At least, I think its a good idea. If not, RD'll let me know by his toss of the DICTIONARY OF PAIN! at me.... oww.......

You would have to be very slow or a n00b not to know how to get the image address from your post. I still think your pretty picture adds nothing of value to this thread. It is very close to spam.
Other mods are responsible for the boards they moderate. I am not bound by what other mods do or do not approve of.
You say you have your reasons. Well, I have mine. If it looks like spam, if it smells like spam, if it tastes like sp. . . . . . .

Aside from this thread starting out as a question about partitioning your hard drive, This is a good idea, and one that is already used by some members for their progress reports.
I would be very happy if this whole board focused on what can be done rather than on what can't.
It seems Rubber Ducky has deleted my post. But you can't hide from the truth. We know exactly how you became a mod.
Be very afraid.

Okay. I'll be blunt. Post another image and get karma slapped. Simple?

OK, I'll post images on other Rubber Ducky-and-Debra-free web boards.

Your post was deleted because it contained nothing relative to the Coldstone board and, additionally, flamed another member of this community. Go back and read the web board guidelines.
I do not choose to lock horns with you in public. If you have a problem with this, send me an e-mail. ~RD
I don't have any such problem. I do, however, have other (webboard related) problems to deal with other than mods who...well, you know. Goodbye for now.
OK. I think the answers can be summed up:
As a developer, partioning your drive to 10.2 or 10.1 would allow you to use Coldstone more effectively than running it natively under 10.3. However, as a game player (and, to some extent, as a developer) switching operating systems to just use one application is a both irritating and boring. As such, yes, you could do it, but can you really be bothered?
As to the rest, the topic is now closed. And, as has been stated by RD and by Debra, posting of irrelevent images here, or of borderline images after being warned, is not a good idea. It slows down the board for those of use with dialup and is unnecessary detritus on what is, primarily, a tech support board.

Since you are trying to be either snide or funny, I'll remove the mystique that you are so desperately trying to say that you have.
I decided that I wanted RD to be a moderator on this board. I sent mail to Tarn. He agreed. I then spoke to Andrew Welch, aka. Moki, aka. el Presidente of Ambrosia Software, INC. He agreed with us and blessed RD's account and placed him on this board.
Boy, that was really insiduous, wasn't it? Aren't you glad that you no longer have to hide this information from anyone?
Ok, topic is being locked back up. Sorry Tarn, just had to nuke that one.
