    RE: Some problems/questions I have

It's also worth noting that gaining levels too early can actually be detrimental, as the number of HP you gain when leveling up is a function of your vitality, and increasing your vitality doesn't affect the HP you already have. Thus, you will have many more HP if you increase your vitality as much as you can before you gain too many levels.

Of course, as long as you're cheating with Pandora's Box, you could quite easily give yourself thousands of HP, superhuman stats, and invincible armor as well... but I wouldn't recommend it. It would take much of the fun out of the game. 🙂

RE: Sprite help from the 3D Talented

I believe that in Bryce ambient lighting is actually a texture/material property. If so, you'll just need to open up each of your textures/materials and set their ambience to zero. The "sun" is a distant (or parallel) light, which IMHO is probably best for your main light. But you can in fact turn it off as modesty_blaise_us suggested if you'd prefer.

You could try using the "blink" spell...

Except I rather suspect that any number of file names are either misspelled or in French... this is PoG we're talking about, after all. ("Filter of Healing", anyone?)

I'm flattered, but I think you're exaggerating more than a little bit. 🙂 My (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/glennfield/ColdstoneBugs.html")bug list(/url) is oriented towards Coldstone more than PoG, and I haven't updated it in well over a year. I know for a fact that there are bugs that have been discovered since then. I suspect many here can tell you a lot more about bugs in PoG than I can.

On the other hand, if you're talking about my e-mails back from when PoG/Coldstone were still in pre-release beta, regarding the legions of typos in PoG, you may be right. 🙂 I could give even RD a run for his money as "Defender of the English Language", I suspect. 😛

    RE: "Stopping time"

If you did this, you would also have to remove the attacks of the "immobile" NPCs, as I'm fairly sure that otherwise they would still attack the player when he passed within range.

If you're OK with EVN, you shouldn't have any complaints about the content of PoG. The worst I can think of in this game are very mild swearing ("Those damn kobolds") and one minor sexual innuendo (a woman asking you to help "move her furniture" while her husband's away, including a large bed...) Very minor stuff, and compared to EVN, it's nothing at all.

If you have a newish version of OS X, though, you may want to avoid purchasing PoG at this time, due to the lack of support by the original developer. As you've probably noticed if you've looked around the boards at all, PoG is mildly incompatible with OS X 10.2 (some - fortunately avoidable - issues with save files) and quite incompatible with OS X 10.3 (impossible to even run the game). I believe I've also heard rumors about some minor incompatibilities with certain versions of Windows, but that's not my field of expertise.

    Hope this helps!

You'd still have to reboot the computer into 10.2 (or 10.1, for that matter, which would also avoid the 10.2 save file problem) in order to run it.

I've done that sort of thing with OS 9 (back in the early days of OS X when there were a number of games incompatible with Classic), and while it works, it's tedious and annoying to have to do.

Perhaps so, though I seem to recall hearing that part of the reason for the lack of updates (at least at one time) was that they couldn't seem to get Coldstone to compile in the latest version of RB at all...
