Even though we've heard that Ambrosia is talking to Beenox about the update for CS, I don't want to let such nice work go to waste, and the petition may show Beenox that people really do care and want an update, so in a week or two I plan to send them the petition. For those that haven't signed, you can find it (url="http://"http://http://www.petitiononline.com/csos103/petition.html")here(/url).
Now to the second part of the subject. In the paragraph above I said I plan to send the petition; however, that can change based upon what you (the rest of the ColdStone community) want. The question I put to you is this: Do you think that I should send the petition? And if yes, then when?

Better fix that link, Cha0s. You can find the petition (url="http://"http://www.petitiononline.com/csos103/petition.html")here(/url).
Better wait until you get more signatures before sending it. I signed it just now.

Well, offhand, I'd say that it will make little to no difference whether you send it to Beenox or not. A bit harsh, true, but probably accurate considering Beenox's 'street reputation' when replying to mail from Coldstone users. As far as I know, not a single reply from Beenox has been received in relation to Coldstone, only those to ASW... perhaps part of the publisher's agreement?
At any rate, feel free. I did sign it, after all, so I have no problem with it being sent. Just don't get your hopes up too hight about it making a difference.

Send it once. If you get no reply, send it twice, if you still get no reply, send it 4 times, after that start using multiple email adresses and send it 8 times, 16 times, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, etc.

Sorry, I just hate corporate arrogance, gets my blood boiling to feel ignored like this. Just a friendly reply, sorry we plan to look at this at the end of next year because this and this and this, would be more acceptable.
WHY DON'T THEY JUST GIVE US TE CODE BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DO NOT WANT TO WORK ON IT ANYMORE.

Irritating the recipient will undoubtedly produce poor results. I believe they have a problem that they cannot fix at this time. Thus, they don't have an answer to give until other elements are fixed first. The software works in OS 9 and Classic, so stick with that until a solution arrives. I did not sign the petition because I think it is the wrong approach. They already know there is a problem. Shouting at them won't make it better. ~RD

How many updates do there have to be to RB before Beenox get off their asses and decide to fix CS. The problem with panther has nothing to do with RB anyway. I though it was the actual engine (which is written in C or C++) that needs changing. I think that the petition should be sent in a couple of weeks. If you don't get a reply then tell us. I am pretty sure that members of the coldstone community are willing to send very strong worded letters to Beenox if they do nothing. They could at least hand over the source to ambrosia who I am sure would be more than happy to find someone to develop it.

Doesn't Ambrosia have the source code? I know they have the code to PoG, but what about Coldstone? Also, Coldstone was written in RealBasic. It really shouldn't too hard to update, all they have to do is make a few changes and recompile it (I think).
I think that the petition has done what it needs to do. That is, Ambrosia has told us to "hold tight," and that they're aware that Coldstone needs updating.
Beenox is not in any way obligated to give away anything, or to respond to a petition. If you use the petition as a weapon and begin to hassle anyone, you will take my name off of the petition. That is not who I am. The comment, "... before Beenox get off their asses ..." is something that I will not be a part of. It conveys a mentality that opposes my own. I believe that a petition is good, but harrassing or name-calling (flaming) is not.
How on earth do you believe that Beenox should hand over the code? There seems to be some assumptions going on that is nothing more than speculation. I don't quite understand the anger expressed here; indeed, I think perhaps it's easier to be angry than to just deal with the reality that these are businesses and they'll do business in ways that's best for them. Bottom line: We don't really know what's going on. And they have no obligation to tell us.
Meanwhile, I'm building a game that I wouldn't be able to do without the Coldstone program.

I agree with Debra, Please send the petition but do not turn it into a flame war. I will not be used as a weapon in a name calling game.

Now you make this negotiation sound like a act of terrorism. I believe that this has turned a somewhathelpful situation and it has breeded in the form of the hated spam, and we all know what we do with spam. I suggest a less stressful course of action, because I for one will not stand for a angry petition nor a bugged program. But I believe that there are workarounds for each and no reason to get nasty otherwise. If you do not consider anything, consider this: Beenox created this in the first place, and we would not have it otherwise without them. If anyone thinks that they could do better with what they have, I would like to see it done. I stand by Debra and RD's decisions, and I hope that all of you do as well.

Let me explain:
If I send the petition it won't be a bashing over the head of Beenox. Beenox may understand the problem, but maybe not the scope. They don't know how many people really want this update and the petition's goal is to bring this figure to there attention. I have no intention of sending it more than once (except that I'll take petition.com's advice and send a hard AND digital copy). If it is sent it will be sent once (well, + hard copy) with the purpose of expanding Beenox's knowledge of the problem, not name-calling, snearing, or irritating. I did not have those thoughts in mind when I created the petition and I will not allow it to be used for that.
Anyway, I think I will send it: Any suggestions on when?
I think you ought to wait a bit before sending it to allow some of the slower members to sign it (those who login every week or two). Probably around thanksgiving.
