Hi. Since there's a voicing of concern about graphics sometimes, I thought I'd share my first attempt at making my own. I've made a stone bridge that you can lengthen as long as you need. I made them into png files. You can access it here:
(edit) These links don't work. Please see below this message. Sorry.
If you use it, all I ask is that you give credit to Danillitphil Productions.
I don't know how to make it available on the Ambrosia resources page. Sorry.
Thanks!

Bad news: none of your links work.

Yeah, I'm trying to fool around with them now. The graphics worked fine in CS on one computer, but not in CS on my OS 8.6 Powerbook. So I've remade them into pict files instead. So NOW they work! The problem now is that I can't figure out how to get them to you! My browser won't read them. Man, they really are sweet, if I may say so myself. Anyone know how to access pct files?
{edit} Okay, try this please: {edit again} Deleted the link. Put up the link that works best: (url="http://"http://www.fa.mtu.edu/~dlbruch/stonebridge.sit")http://www.fa.mtu.ed...stonebridge.sit(/url)

They don't work for me. It refuses to open them with anything but netscape. try using dropstuff to stuff them so that the browser knows that it is a download.

Okay. How's this? (url="http://"http://www.fa.mtu.edu/~dlbruch/stonebridge.sit")http://www.fa.mtu.ed...stonebridge.sit(/url)
Look pretty good to me, especially for a first attempt. Just a couple of minor nitpicks:
-You've apparently used the same texture for each "block" of the same color. This is subtle, and mostly unnoticeable in my opinion, except perhaps in the "front" image. You might want to consider fiddling with this, but it's only a very minor issue.
-Somehow, to me, the combination of rectilinear shapes, tan and brown colors, and texturing you've chosen make the bridge look more like wood than stone. I don't know why, given that a bridge made of wood and assembled in that fashion would be really odd, but that's the way my brain seems to react to it. I don't know what program you've used to create these graphics, but I think the intrinsic "stoneness" of the bridge might come across more clearly if the blocks had smoother, more organic edges.
To upload your .sit file to the Coldstone Addons, go to (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/coldstone/addons.html")http://www.ambrosias...one/addons.html(/url) and click on the "Submit a File" button near the bottom of the page. It should be fairly straightforward from there on. (I think you can safely disregard the note about using .bin or .hqx compression in addition to .sit - I've uploaded .sit files to the EV addons before with no problems.) One caution, though, for future reference: Make sure the name of the file you're uploading doesn't contain spaces - underscores are fine - as there's a bug in the system such that it will not keep track of the number of times the file's been downloaded by people if the file name contains spaces. (I'm actually simplifying somewhat, but that's close enough for government work. )
------------------ I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh no, here comes another learning experience.

Work's great. I would like to use in a game i'm making. do you have any specail requests if i use it?
Cool bridges!!! I see that there are some gaps in the link-to-shore sections. Then again, that may be intentional so that you can see the water underneath?
Yes please. Under Credits, please give a credit to Danillitphil Productions.
Cool! Thanks!
Yep. It's intentional so you can see a slight bit of underneath.
Very good. I think that you should do a series, based on that set, but for different environments. If I find a time when I could use your bridges, I will. Unfortunately, the space in my plugin that needs a bridge, is so small that it would look akward (I used PoG's wood bridges, and it still looks a bit weird). Plus, its in a cave :frown:. The bridges are excellent. Keep up the great work!!!

Nice looking bridge Debra. I hope you share more of your creations in the future.

looks great. i just dragged the images to my desktop in os9, and they became simple text file pictures that open easily. very nice details on the bridge thier.

Thanks everybody!
ChaOs, would you tell me what you mean by different environments? Examples? I'm pretty dense today. Thanks!
I mean: one at night a ruined version a castle (grey stone) modernized etc.
It would be really cool. You could use that set as your base set and (for the night version, for example) add a semi-transparent dark layer over it. I think you've done a great job so far, and it would be great to see more.
