Seiken Diestsu 3, not released in the U.S. Not to mention the engrossing plot featuring multiple endings and twists depending on the characters you choose at the beginning (which run into those that you did not choose) and the intuitive battle system (which is surprisingly fun, but can get redundant), it features an extensive class change system (which sadly doesn't change the character graphic, but only the colors and stats).

already got it, already beat it 😉

The legend of Zelda, while a good insomnia cure, is NOT an rpg.

PC: Fallout

Console: tie between Skies of Arcadia and Chrono Trigger

Im suprised Fallout hasnt made this list at all...

Skies would def be my console fav if it werent for the HUGE frequency of random encounters...

later.

I don't like your sarcastic tone!
I actually played through the whole thing of it and Exil:Escape from the Pit.
The only Spiderwweb game that I like is Nethergate.

You don't have to like anything. That's why we have this right to free speech. And no one has the right to be free from "emotional" blows. Unfortunately, some people think we do, and seem to take it way too far, making our lawyers rich. But enough rambling, I've strayed way too far from the topic at hand.

EARTHBOUND!!!! Nothing is better than the SNES classic EARTHBOUND!!!!!!!! WOOO!!!! EVEN EVERY WEBSITE MADE BY AN EARTHBOUND FAN IS WONDERFUL (except for (url="http://"http://www.earthbound.net")www.earthbound.net(/url) that site is a discrace to the whole internet)!!!!!!

Everquest?? but...didn't you have to pay for that one by the month?
but D2, Cronotrigger and (one I haven't seen mentioned) Crono Cross for the PS! that was a wicked game..and FF 3 was pretty good, first RPG I ever played..

Me gusta mi reggae, Me gusta punk rock, pero la cosa que me gusta más es panochinta 😉

well I never had to pay for EverQuest, because I got a free month(the first month is free) and then I disconnected one day before I would have been charged the next month
sneaky

haha no
never played crono cross though

Has anyone played Ultima Online? It's terrible isn't it, especcially compared to EverQuest.
I normally love Ultima but I just hated UO.

I really like Chrono cross and Vagrant story, as for pencil-and-paper RPG, I do love AD&D; (Hey, who said dinosaure ????), and ConspiracyX

I loooooove the Tales series from Namco. The only one to make it to the US was Tales of Destiny (PS1), which was by far the worst in the series. >< Hurrah for being fluent in Japanese! The latest in the series is Tales of Eternia, which is great! I think they might be translating it to English. It has an amazing battle system!
Other favorites: the Persona/Magami series from Atlus (One of the few truely QUALITY action RPGs out there... not a true RPG, per se, but it's still very good...)
Oh, and Chrono Cross, but everyone likes Chono Cross.

What the hell is Chrono Trigger? 😕
Everyone says how great it is.

Chrono trigger rules and will always rule!

If you want to know what it is search for Chrono Trigger on Yahoo.com and enter the page Icy Brian´s Chrono Trigger page or something.

just to cover some thing's up (im a nintendo fan) Crono Trigger was a really good super nintendo game and then they had the Crono Cross for playstation. they rock as Rpgs. The zelda games REALLY rock (especially the new season one) i can't understand FF either, it seems so brainless and uncreative  i guess i like bulder's gate too, since it did come out for mac.

The Dursleys had not changed much in the ten years that had passed, the only thing that was different was the pictures on the wall. Before, they looked like a pink beach ball wearing different colored bobble hats.
1984 won't be like 1984

Final Fantasy is just like ChronoTrigger...I don't see why people like it better. Especially Final Fantasy III.

NO RPG can stand up to D&D.; Anything can happen. No one's ever played an RPG until they play D&D;, it's the only one where you control your characters every action, and decide exactly how you act. but D2 is still awesome GO LEVEL 70 SORCERESS!!!!! heheheheh

What other pencil/paper RPGs have you played? I haven't looked at the D&D; 3rd Edition rules, but D&D; original, AD&D;, and AD&D; 2nd edition share a common set of problems... ones which I wasn't really aware of until I tried some other RPGs. I especially found the following link insightful and interesting:

I've been caught! Actually I have not played any others, but I do enjoy AD&D.;
I play 3rd edition. But I share some of those complaints, and I don't know if this is on there, but I think they went too detailed on some of the rules. I MEAN WHO CARES ABOUT DARKVISION?! uuugh it disgusts me

ok, Diablo2 just moved to the bottom of the list. As of 3 hours ago, it is the worst game on the face of the earth (the patch)

ah well
at least we don't have to worry about D&D; releasing a patch that destroys our characters

ooh! ooh! I was just reminded of one of my all-time favorite PC RPGs. anybody remember the Quest for Glory series? I've gotta say #1 (though the least RPGish of them all) was my favorite. god damn. why don't they make games like that any more?
