South Tip Conclave

It had been three weeks since the fall of the Directorate, and with flawless efficiency, the planet was beginning to reorganise its political structure already. The loyal followers of the Directorate's dictator, "Sovereign" Tzeune Myiamir, had been too few in number for one to be assigned to monitoring each town or city on Obutes, and thus something resembling a feudalism had grown across the moon, with various local leaders reporting to Myiamir's henchmen, and them carrying the report (admittedly with the odd case of forgetfullness, of course) to the Sovereign himself. Thanks to this system, the local government was already in place when the Conclave liberated the planet. Thirty seven prestigious figures across Obutes were brought into the Conclave. Unfortunately, a vote across Obutes was impossible, as the population was still widely disorganised. Progress was being made now, however, and with the Conclave now numbering almost five hundred individuals, representing a population of eleven billion, it was stronger than ever before.

The primary goal of the liberation of Obutes had been successful, but the secondary goal - and in some perspectives the more important - had yet to be completed.

It was this that brought five Laziras, none of which had taken part in the attack against Obutes (and were thus not in Evhael's fleet), to the uninhabited system of DSN-5553, chasing the most dangerous figure in the Directorate, Myiamir's most trusted and least trustworthy henchman.

The five Laziras broke into the system silently, the soundless scream of spacial disturbance predicting their arrival. They held tight - dangerously so, most captains would have believed. Only two hundred metres separated the ships at closest (only so much because otherwise, the ships would crash into each other the moment one turned out-of-sync with the others), and three hundred and twenty at the furthest. That distance was due to the Requiem , the lead ship of the small fleet, holding the vanguard.

As they entered the system, the precautions proved to be wise. A small skirmish gave the system life - Crescent fighters diving and strafing against identical craft in what was apparently unorganised fury. The Requiem and its escorts moved to a stop, scanning the numerous vessels. Pirates fought Directorate remnants, and two bounty hunters - Arada pilots - were attempting to play vigilante against both simultaneously. By the time scans were completed, however, the battle had already turned towards a decisive end. The Directorate forces broke off as if to retreat, the pirates following, bounty hunters attempting to make the best of the situation by cutting at the pirate craft as they sped away. Sensor disturbance, asteroids and low power emissions had hid another Directorate craft, however. A Crescent warship emerged on sensors and visuals, its phase turrets discharging rapidly.

Directorate fighters U-turned, and made one fierce spearhead against the pirate forces. The battle came to an abrupt, anti-climatic end as two dozen SADs smashed into the hulls of the last few pirate ships. They detonated in spheres of white plasma, exploding, imploding, and disappearing entirely.

The bounty hunters wheeled backwards, attempting to leave the system, but two SADs snagged each, disabling them.

(-Requiem-) This is Magistrate Ethnorion of the Conclave space fleet. To whom do I address?

(-Directorate warship-) Laughter. You don't need to ask, Ethnorion. This is Arhanor, former admiral of the Directorate.

(-Requiem-) Indeed. I shall be blunt. The Conclave has a business proposal for you.

(-Directorate warship-) You call executions business these days?

(-Requiem-) It is not believed that you yourself can be held accountable for the crimes of the Directorate's sovereign. The Conclave wishes to offer you a position within its military.

(-Directorate warship-) It might be possible, of course... under certain terms.

(-Requiem-) State them.

(-Directorate warship-) Immunity to Conclave law, inclusive of my crew and squadron, both of which will remain under my personal command, not the Conclave's. Full access to Conclave military datanets, including the technology for your accursed masked shields. And photon weaponry. I've heard about that.

(-Requiem-) I am authorised to grant you all of these terms.

(-Directorate warship-) Hah, I'm not finished... one more, in fact.

(-Requiem-) State it.

(-Directorate warship-) I do not want to work with no-one but Strandless. Bloody serious buggers... More laughter.

(- transmission ended -)

After half an hour, the Directorate forces (one Crescent warship, six Crescent fighters) were on route to Obutes once more, under the escort of Ethnorion's forces. The two bounty hunters, who had been disabled, had their legal records investigated, and were towed to Obutes, where their ships were to be repaired and returned to their owners.

No-one thought to more closely investigate the fate of Tzeune Myiamir. He was assumed killed in the battle, and it was also suggested he may have commited suicide when the outcome was clear.

No-one thought to check.

On the surface of Bakoom, the first alpha prototype of the Galactic Eye was being tested. It was nothing like what the eventual device would be, of course, but rather a test of the principles. The prototype device, if all went well, would be capable of scanning the entire system closely. A Crescent fighter had arrived from Mavs, in hopes of trying the prototype's sensors against it. It was currently circling the planet, on its fifth run.

"Prototype sensor online... now."

"Compensating for sub-spacial disturbance...."

"Receiving sub-spacial data, displaying..."

The displays, in one of the many labs in Infinity Threshold, all flicked online, displaying highly detailed information on the system. The entire star system - range was 100% of its predicted value. A success.

"Centering in on Sector NL and scanning the fighter..."

Detailed sensor readings returned. Shield status, ship type, ship configuration, location, predicted flight path, and various other pieces of data. The prototype was a success: it penetrated the masked shielding. Of course, all logic said it should, because the shielding was masked only spacially, not sub-spacially.

It wouldn't be much longer, now, until the final construct was operational. The most difficult step had been made - the technology of the Galactic Eye had been successfully implemented into a sensor. Now, it just had to be built.

OOC: Esponer, we talked about this before, and since it wasn't in your post, I'm taking the liberty of having Varian send it to Mira. I'm probably going to use the same designations as you did for my swarms of Crescent Fighters armed with Photonic Weaponry. Talk to me in New Life or on AIM if this is unacceptable. Thanks.

High Councilor Neve Ashak was in deep conversation with Varian. Cuurently the two were debating about the capabilities and uses of the Conclave's photonic weaponry. When Varian reminded Ashak about the Conclave's offer to give the Miranu Star League the technology for it, Ashak was pleased to know that the technology for these weapons was now complete. He asked Varian if he could transmit the plans for this new technology to Mira, and Varian agreed to do so. He gave the information to Ashak, who transmitted the plans to Mira via backchannels Miranu intelligence changed every minute. The Miranu high councilor and the Conclave administrator moved closer to SRL Space in anticipation of negotiating a treaty.

OOC: I will post more later-a full post, I promise. Just needed to get this up first to get the ground cleared for my next chapter.

Igadzra Particle Beam
Igadzra Scientists created the newest element, Igarium, but had nothing to do with it until now. With a half-life of over a billion years, the large chunk of Igarium used to power a beam will never desintagrate(sp?). Hundreds of ions are shot at the Igarium, and when atoms are hit, special Raedion particles are released. These particles are focused into a beam, which is shot at the enemies ship. At the same time, the Raedion particles send electrical waves through the ships hull. After a while, that part of the ship will not only become disabled, it will be weakened by the Raedion. The Beams second mode is a high powered laser blast, that destroys nothing but protons. It can only be used on unstable substances, such as those that have been weakened by the Readion Beam. When the blast hits the particles, it completely destroys them. The particles in an area around the destroyed area become loose, and if even the slightest bit off mass hits them, they will be destroyed.

Saga of the Guild: Chapter 21

Munb, Dewe System

A sleek green vessel cut through the veils of hyperspace and emerged into the system. At once, 6 Ra Gunships surrounded it in an escort position and confirmed the identity of its passengers. The green ship accelerated to Munb, then but its engines and slowly fired breaking thrusters, activated maneuvering jets, and carefully lowered itself to dock at Munb Spaceport.

Castemembers quickly surrounded it and enthusiastically greeted High Councilor Lelos Somm and Scientist Loeugith. Somm, in his flowing red robes of a Station Pybin Researcher, drew the most awe, but there were Miranu enough interested in the Scientist as well. Both refrained from answering questions, saying only that the answers would soon be available to all who were citizens of the Star League.

The two of them dumped their information databases from their gunship into the high-security infonets of the Research Directorate's department on Munb and then boarded their vessel once again. They fired the thrusters surrounded by an awed crowd, and then plotted a course for Mira.

There was much to discuss at the High Council that day.

Station Pybin

Engineer Aenig depressed a control on the main console of the Miranu Gunship shell hauled here for testing. Multiple cams were trained on the hull to capture all that happened now on datathread for the Engineer to peruse later. He could sense no change in the ship, other than the bar of light representing the fuel tanks of the hull dropping gradually. At least we have the feed working. All we need now is evidence from those cams and Pilot Regaul out there to confirm it, thought Aenig with little hope. Progress on the Miranu Cloaking Device had been slow from the beginning, and now, after weeks of effort and frustration, the Engineer was pessimistic that today would be much different from any of the other days. They had partial success on many of the trials, but nothing exactly as Researcher Somm had initially planned for. Now...

"Aenig!" called Regaul as he burst into the cockpit. The hull hadn't moved, realized Aenig, so he could have walked right in if he remembered where the hatch was. "Aenig, the cloak works! This test shows exemplary results!"

Aenig smiled. "Well then. We'll need to run a few hundred more just to make sure, won't we?" Pilot Regaul grinned back. Aenig spoke once more: "We can now continue with the Researcher's timetable."

"I'll send the word to Mira immediately. Admiral Sunrunner will be most pleased."

Mira

Deep underground a hand flicked a lever to the ON position. One light flickered on over a lab bench. Then another. And another. Then tens of lights flickered on at a time.
Then hundreds.
Then thousands.
Event Horizon came online in one burst of electricity and glory. Hundreds of research consoles, offices, libraries, and databases filled the tremendous underground caverns that the facility had been carved from. Cooling units activated to counteract the heat of being closer to Mira's mantle and core, and soon construction workers and a scattering of Engineers examined the entire facility once more in preparation for the arrival of the Researcher.

They would not have to wait much longer.

"This meeting of the Miranu High Council is now in session. Researcher Somm has important news for us," declared Trademaster Corzun Dah.

High Councilor Lelos Somm stepped up to the giant main console of the meeting hall and inserted a series of data crystals containing the information he and Loeugith had gleaned from their travels into the Ji Nebula. A holographic representation of the nebula appeared hovering over Somm's head. He manipulated the console and zoomed into a tunnel he had marked on the image. It began at Hrekka, The Door. It then snaked its way slowly but surely into the very heart of the Nebula, where an emerald sphere denoted a habitable world. The High Council gaped. No one had anticipated a habitable planet in the middle of the Ji!

"As you can see, we found this world in the center, really the most remarkable fact about the Ji Nebula. We have designated it as Planet F-25, and are currently planning on sending exploratory patrols to map out the planet's surface and take core samples and analyze the world's composition. This may yet take some time, and we must be patient while waiting for conclusive results. However, Loeugith and I believe that the Nebula will hold great promise for the Miranu people. For Loeugith's actions and vigilance in his work as a Station Pybin Scientist, I now promote him to the rank of Researcher of the new Event Horizon facility. He will begin work there on new research, which will aid the Star League immeasurably. I have also received word that the cloaking device is now fully tested. I have dispatched Engineers across the Star League to outfit our fleets with these cloaks. We have also been informed by our allies, the South Tip Conclave, of the plans for photonic weaponry. The Engineers will also rearm our warships with these weapons. I estimate, oh, two galactic standard weeks of refitting. Event Horizon will soon design a ramscoop that will lengthen the time our ships can remain hidden under subspacial cloak. I thus conclude the Research Directorate's report to the Miranu High Council."

-7 Carriers, 18 Gunships arrived in Nadej.

-3 Carriers, 3 Gunships remaining at The Door on high alert patrol.

Station Pybin Research Directorate:

Research: Miranu Cloaking Device: The MCD works on the principle of a one-way sub-spacial cloak. Namely, the Miranu cannot be seen nor detected by enemy vessels and sensors, as it is places the Miranu ship into another dimension while active, but the Miranu still have the ability to use sensors to see outside the cloak. Extensive research will allow weapons to be fired from the ship while it is under cloak. The downside is that the cloak drains fuel, and once all of a vessel's fuel is consumed, the cloak suddenly deactivates. Complete

Follow-up Project: Refitting of Miranu Defense Fleets: In accordance with the Modern Army Act, the Engineers of Station Pybin and Event Horizon have been dispatched to outfit all ships with cloaking devices and photonic weaponry.
(Begun: 12/13/02) (End: 12/15/02)

Project: Event Horizon, a high-security research laboratory buried under Mira's crust. It will serve the function of speeding research advances within the Miranu Star League. (Translation: an additional research slot) Complete

Project: The gunships stationed in Dewe (20) will be equipped with NPDs. Complete

Event Horizon:

Research: Antimatter Explosives: To inaugurate Event Horizon, Researcher Somm appointed Scientist Loeugith to the rank of Researcher of the new facility. The two equals decided to research the uses of antimatter's explosive properties, a field of much interest in the Star League. Many bright Miranu minds have been collected at Event Horizon as a consequence of this interest, and these will form the core of the new facility's staff. Initial results involved the mutual annihilation of some positron spheres and Researcher Loeugith's mid-day meal. Current work is focused on efficiently mass production of antimatter. After that is accomplished, uses will be studied and acted on. (Begun: 12/13/02) (End: 12/18/02)

Project: Miranu Ramscoop: Following Supreme Admiral Sunrunner's order to make the cloak last longer, a ramscoop is being designed to double the effective time a cloak can be used. (10 tons) (Begun: 12/13/02) (End: 12/17/02)

Azdgari Star Destroyer/Heavy Plasma Cannon
Over the last few months the Azdgari military community has come to realize several important weaknesses in the Azdgari Warship. While it is an excellent warship, much improved by the latest round of refits, it is still unable to stand up to the heavier Igazras one on one, or shrug off multiple Zidaras lightly. In addition to this it completly lacks any type of long range weaponry. The Azdgari Star Destroyer project seeks to fill this gap in the Azdgari Fleet, and while all details are not known about the end design of the ship, some basic outlines have been made. Built around it's main weapon system, the Heavy Plasma Cannon, the Star Destroyer will be more than three times the size of an Azdgari Warship. This weapon basicly channels excess drive plasma into a special containment system where it is charged and compressed before being fired out the main cannon. This large condensed ball of plasma travels extremely fast in a relativly straight line, dissapating and expanding slowly as it moves away fromt the ship.

It was late and Zurg was sleeping in his heavily gaurded bedroom when sirens started blaring and red warning lights came on toughout the station. He jumped up and quickly pulled on his suit. His bedroom doors slid open and a gaurd hurried in. "The station is under attack by Conclave forces they have broken through our defence fleet and are presently bombarding Freeport", he blurted out. Suddenly the station rocked slightly and the lights flickered.
"Have the base fleets been deployed", asked Zurg as they ran down the hall.
"Yes sir, they have just taken off."
They arrived at the battle control room of Freeport. Zurg took his seat in the huge commander chair.
"Activate visual", he commanded the communications officer.
Zurg looked to his right and was horrified at the sight of the base fleet being decimated. The fleet had barely made a dent in the attacking forces.
"Send the back up force,"he said to the officer.
Then to his defence captian:"Activate station shields, energize defense cannons." The captain turned to his control panel and pressed several buttons. The lights snapped out and a blueish light could be seen from the screen. Just then he saw more ships jump in.
"Are there any more back up forces?"
"Yes sir, six more."
"Send three in."

Admiral Ilither watched as 2 of Warships captured from Neslaut exploded from the Renagade barrage.

"Tactical, have you updated the firing programs with the data we got from the first firing run?"

"Almost, Sir. Updated information is being transmitted to the rest of the fleet now. Targets are locked, and weapons are firing."

With the first volley of the capital missile, the league had opted for overwhelming odds against the enemy ships. With firmer data of the punishment they could take, the second volley was far more precise.

70 Capital Missiles sped away from the league fleet, almost 3 missiles a Turncoat.

When they hit, not much was left of the Renagade fleet, a single damaged turncoat, and a small fleet of Helians and kraits. No match for the League fleet alone, let alone with the Conclave helping.

"Ilither to all ships. pull back to maximum range, and stay out of range of the stations weaponry. Prepare to fire capital missiles at the station to knock its shields out."

Human Renagades:All Turncoats but 1 destroyed. Helians and Kraits intact.

Internal Development Report
Work on the anti-fighter missile has bene completed. In order to fit the maximum amount availible onto a defending ship, and to allow a ship to saturate the local area with the missiles, a box launcher design has been opted for. The missile is similar in appearance to a Pursuit Missile, but is smaller. It has a shorter range, and its tracking system is not always reliable. The destructive power of the missile is less, but more than would be expected for such a small missile. Instead of the normal plating covering the missile, the League has opted to use high yield explosives as the covering. While in a normal missile this would be suicide as a glancing hit would easily destroy it, the missile is not in space long enough for enemy tracking systems to lock onto it, it generally hitting its target within nanoseconds of launch, due to the short range and speed of it.

The ships currently in Tibidat are already being refitted with the new weapon, and those Aradas on patrol in other systems will be exchanged to be refit. The fleet currently engaged in battle will be refitted as time permits.

With the completion of this weapon, the Leagues scientists on Tibidat are looking over current technology and new uses.

Neslaut Technological Report

The Neslaut facility has been looking at the unique carbon deposits found on Siqwe Prime, and has found that the material can indeed be used for ship construction. Even assuming more of the material was availible however, cutting and forming the material to be usable is a time consuming task. Current projections show that perhaps a single CW could be built a week, if all resources were put towards it. Simulations show however, that such a ship would be capable of absorbing massive amounts of damage after shields are down. OOC: RMA, lay off on actually calculating the damage like that for a bit, if you don't mind. Zurg, this isn't really important, but bear in mind that you don't know my ships are Conclave.

South Tip Conclave

As the League's missile barrage lay waste to numerous renegade Turncoats (OOC: though, RMA, I insist that the Conclave took down more themselves), the Conclave hunted down and eliminated vessel after vessel with precision and overwhelming firepower. Conclave fighters, in groups of three, tore through the remnants of Riomor's defence fleet, taking down their Helians and Kraits one by one. Instigators discharged accurately, pulses of blinding white light that renegade shielding and armour could not stand up against. But the most notable combatant group in the Conclave fleet were the new Arada variants.

As Karatis' Relentless II swept past the last remaining renegade Turncoat, the craft's Eliminiators locked onto the target, unleashing quad pulses of light quickly, devastating the ship. It went from having shields at 56% to being disabled in a single pass - too easy. Its blaze fire, in turn, proved too inaccurate to cause any significant harm to the Relentless II. A Crescent interceptor, making a casual pass, discharged a pulse from an Instigator, and the Turncoat went up in flames.

The Conclave, realising that their advantage was very much marked, had abandoned their semblance of a strict formation. Crescent fighters moved in groups of three called tri-wings, each twi-wing easily laying waste to a Turncoat and support. Crescent interceptors stuck in two groups, unleashing devastating waves of firepower. Aradas and Laziras kept to themselves, their Eliminator armanents proving capable of shredding a Turncoat in a few seconds, or obliterating ranks of Kraits with ease.

After several more minutes, the renegade fleet was all but destroyed. Five Helians remained of its defensive fleet, and it had no reserves to bring in. The Conclave's interceptors, backed up by League firepower, assaulted Freeport's own defence turrets, eliminating them all quickly. The station was defenceless.

Good to see you on the field. A pity, however, that they proved unable to provide a good fight. I suggest you move your fleet to assault Yelts. We'll clear up here.

Surrender this facility and everybody on this station will be allowed to leave, and the Conclave swears that none of you will come to any harm by our hand. Providing Freeport is surrendered to us, in good working order, you may all live. If you do not satisfy this, we will have to exact the most final justice upon you all.

Am I posting in Just Chat or B&B;? If so, I'm probably joking.

With 70 Igadzras and 150 I. Aradas in Mordus, it was time to attack. The more than 200 warships shot off for the Duidir system.

OOC: Sorry for this short post, but two bloody power surges have effectively knocked out my more elegant posts. I have no more time that I can truly devote to this endeavour now; this will have to suffice for now. Furthermore, I hope no one really minds that I’m going to be doing this in bullet form. /OOC.

  • The Emalgha Council decides to carve out the pylons of all the Emaghla Freighters and Warships. This will allow for a cheaper version of the Emaghla Fighter to be housed there, since they were only used for atmospheric stability anyways. Furthermore, their sensors are slaved to the mother ship’s, so they are cheaper. Furthermore, they don’t have faster than light speed capabilities, and hence their cost is further reduced.
  • Since their sensors are already slaved to the mother ship, the mother ship knows when they are going to fire. Hence, fire control and let down the shields for split seconds. Thus, the Emaghla Fighters will be able to add their 6 cannons worth to the torrent of fire pouring in from the front.
  • The Fighters are small enough that two can be crammed into each pylon. However, they can’t face the same way, as when the first would launch, the second one would be incinerated in the fire. Thus, they point opposite directions, and now the sluggish Freighters and Warships now have a turret to their back.
  • Production of Fighters will be reduced to 66%. Production of Warships will be reduced to 80% because there is a need to reinforce the launch points and fit the pylons with docking clamps. Production of Freighters likewise will be reduced to 80% because there is a need to upgrade their pylons. Note that the Freighters are not upgraded to full fledged warships.
  • 20 Fighters and 5 Warships go to the DSN-4743 System to join the 5 Fighters and 10 Warships already on station there.
  • 5 Fighters and 2 Warships in the DSN-2061 System.
  • 30 Fighters and 30 Warships in the Emalghion System.
  • 10 Fighters and 4 Warships in the Kelmaon System.
  • 5 Fighters and 1 Warship to the systems northeast of Kelmaon for exploration purposes.
  • Freighters scattered about.
  • Prototype Warship Carrier Variant in 1 Day.

New project: Igadzra Adara
This ship, much like the Igadzra Arada, is strong. Also, somewhat like the Azdgari Azdara, it is fast. It also has the best shield recharge of any Igadzra ship. It has very little health, but that doesn't matter a lot, because it is almost impossible to catch with a projectile. It is armed with only one weapon, a small spcially designed Berserker mine launcher, and an ultra-high power repulsor beam.

Notil System 2100 Hours

It was late evening in the control room of the Notil Military Observatory, several junior officers and technicians sat monitoring the many sectors that made up the Notil System. Spread out in the middle of the control room was a large holographic map representing whatever sector the base commander was most interested in. A young Lieutenant who had been sitting at his station for a couple of hours already, and still had half of his shift ahead of him, slowly got up and, after stretching a bit, walked over and got himself a large cup of stimtea. As he turned away he was startled when a small alert sounded from his terminal. With a small flash, a large number of blips shot across his sector as they exited hyperspace. His hand shaking with tremors of fear he activated his consoles ID Scanner... Oh no, he thought Azdgari.
----------------

General Sarn Treval was happy. For the second time in so many days he was getting the chance to take his battle to the Igadzra personally, this time even more so. As his bridge hummed with activity, Sarn sent out quick orders to the captains of his lead Warships. With quick precision the 25 Azdgari Warships formed into loose pentagons around individual BattleCarriers and launched their fighters, while the 75 Aradas spread out in a dome like screen in front of the Capitol ships.

The Azdgari fleet had just started to advance towards the inner system when a young ensign shouted out from the crew pit below General Treval's command section. "General! We're detecting a massive minefield interposed between our attack vector and the Igadzra!" A Lieutenant Commander from the Science section looked up with a puzzled expression. "From what our scans can tell... they seem to be based on the same technology was employed in the new missile weapons we saw at Diudir and Mark, but the have modified them extensively into a mined variety."

With a concerned look Treval scrolled down the sensor data that was pouring into his command console. "Well," he said "it does not appear that the Igadzra were able to cloak these mines or mask them from our targeting sensors... our PDS Batteries should be more than sufficient to carry us through this minefield." With that the Azdgari fleet once again accelerated towards the inner system, closing to a more compact protective formation as they did so. While the Azdaras moved safely within the protective umbrella of the Capital ship's PDS Batteries... the Aradas simply tightened their screen and prepared to pass through the minefield.

With over a thousand PDS Batteries mounted on the Aradas alone, the Igadzra minefield could just as well have been made of Urslan Fuzzes for all the good it did the Igadzran defenders. The Azdgari fleet blasted through the minefield without losing a single ship, even though several of the mines had managed to slip by and attach to the Aradas, none of the damage done had been too severe. Even now new Enhanced Shield Generators were recharging the shields of the Azdgari Aradas that had been damaged.

Looking on in amazed horror, the startled Igadzra Commander nevertheless saw that his only chance to make his guided weapons of any use was to strike now while the Azdgari were concerned with clearing through the minefield. When the Azdgari reached about the middle of the minefield the Igadzra fleet was well ready for it. The 23 Igazras and 45 Igadzra Aradas began to fire multiple salvoes of SAEs and Berserker Torpedoes. In the first volley over 100 SAEs blasted towards the Azdgari, followed quickly by 60 or so Berserkers from the Igazras, all focused on the forward Arada formation.

Seeing the massive barrage of missiles coming towards them, the frontmost Azdgari Aradas quickly disengaged themselves from their mineclearing operations and made their best speed to the protective umbrella of the Warships' PDS Batteries. While the flank Aradas kept the mines on the sides off the Azdgari Fleet, the rest took up a position behind lead group of 5 Warships and a BattleCarrier. The first salvo of Igadzra missiles passed through the portion of the minefield that the Azdgari still had ahead of them and homed in straight toward the small group of capital ships. As the missiles sped ever closer the Azdgari ships closed ranks so they would be better able to support each other, then, as they came within the PDS Batteries' effective range a number of wide hazy yellow beams snapped out and locked on to the Igadzra SAEs. Immediately the missiles began to slow down, their spins became sluggish, then with a number of bright flashes, the small laser blasts began to pick off the SAEs 10 or 20 at a time. A couple of seconds behind the SAEs, the Berserkers had a little better luck. With more than half of the forward batteries either killing stray mines, or concentrating on beating back the SAEs the faster and more maneuverable Berserkers were occasionally able to slip past an overworked PDS Battery. The SAEs were completely destroyed before any of them could even get close to the Warships... but one or two Berserkers had managed to hit each of the 5 Azdgari Warships, only the BattleCarrier had come out unscathed.

With that the Azdgari Fleet accelerated full throttle out of the minefield, with their only losses being 3 Aradas laying disabled in the safe zone cleared by the rest of the Fleet. Now unhindered by the minefield the Azdgari shrugged off two more full salvos with impunity, nearly 2000 PDS Batteries on the forward sections of the ships alone were more than enough to completely protect them from the now insignificant barrages fired by the Igadzra. Closing to within primary cannon range of the Igadzra fleet 180 Azdaras swarmed out of the Azdgari Fleet and smashed through the Igadzran right flank. In a matter of seconds the Azdaras had reduced 4 Igazras and several Igadzra Aradas into flaming hulks spewing atmosphere and molten armor plating, but not without the loss of entire squadrons of Azdaras. Then came the rest of the Azdgari Fleet.

Firing volleys of Dispersal Rockets, half the Aradas moved to support the Azdara attack on the Igadzra right flank, while the other half screened the Azdaras own flanks. Still at full throttle the Azdgari Warships engaged the Igadzra full on. Staying in their groups of five, with each supported by a BattleCarrier and 15 Azdaras, the Azdgari Warships battled head to head with the Igadzran fleet formation. With 3 of the 5 Warships taking point on a rotating schedule, the two others and the BattleCarrier used their PDS to catch anything that was too close for the 3 point ships to get in time. In addition the BattleCarriers used their Pursuit Missiles to finish off any Igadzra Aradas that managed to get away from the Warships.

As the Azdgari Warships pressed harder and harder, the Azdaras and Aradas were wreaking havoc on the Igadzra flank. The Igadzra were fighting like rabid bears, but they were outnumbered, and the latest Azdgari technology rendered their secondary weapons next to useless, and their primary weapons sadly outmatched. Battle raged on...

Azdgari Fleet Status 75% Ammo
23 Azdgari Warships (2 Destroyed, 6 Moderately Damaged, 9 Lightly Damaged)
5 BattleCarriers
55 Azdgari Aradas (18 Destroyed, 3 Disabled and out of the Battle)
212 Azdaras (43 Destroyed)

Igadzra Fleet Status 55% Ammo
11 Igazras (12 Destroyed)
18 Igadzra Aradas (27 Destroyed)

OOC: Grundy, if you think those losses are too overbalanced consider this: Over 2000 PDS Batteries and the way I have my ships supporting each other makes your SAEs and Berserkers almost useless. About 99% of them are getting blocked. Also while Phase Burst and Enhanced Shield Generation technology doesn't enable the Azdgari Warship to beat an Igazra one on one, it does pretty damn well. Combine that with fighter superiority, and my numbers, and you have the results before you. Unless the mods think differently.

The dying Igadzra quickly launched more SAEs and Berserkers, but with a different stratigy. As the yellow beams snapped onto the projectiles, all Igadzra ships fired their Repulsor waves from the Berserker launchers. The SAEs and Berserkers were thrown clear of the beams, as waves of repulsor energy slammed into them. They flew forward, blowing right into the suprised Adzgari ships, who were not expecting this.

Just then, a huge ship lifted from Notil and started to fly towards the battle. The Igadzra flew in from of the rest of the Igadzra fleet, and the fleet quickly flew back. As attention turned to this new ship, the commander of the system grinned on his Igazra. A few ships fired repulsor waves at the Carrier and the rest at the Azdaras, blowing them towards the carrier, and the other half fired tractor waves at the Dispy rockets and Pursuit missiles, which flew off coarse and hit went wildly into space. Then, the huge Igadzra ship detonated. Every single last bit of the ship was full of hyperfuel, and it had no crew aboard, just 1 small bot to activate the self destruct. The huge ship was soon a massive fireball, completely dwarfing the Igadzras. I. Aradas stayed behind the Igadzras to protect themselfs, but the Azdaras and Aradas (on both sides) weren't so lucky. Hundreds of burning chunks of metal hung in space, and as the fires from the ball of death died away, there was very little left in the middle of the battlefield.

The system was littered with scrap metal now, and it was starting to get very interfereing. As the A. Aradas slowly advanced on the Igadzra, they not only had to dodge SAE fire, but little bits of ship hulls. Suddenly, the orange flash of the Repulsor waves was fired, but apearingly at nothing. Then even more hell broke loose. some of the metal in the system started to beep and move, for they were not junk. They were mines. The poor A. Aradas tried to fly back to their warships, only to be yanked right back by Tractor waves.

The Azdgari warships kept firing missiles, but few got through. Repulsor waves blew most fire back, or just had enough force to destroy the missile in its spot. The Igadzra, who had pretty much been decimated before the Carrier could explode, had no choice but to sit and wait. They stopped firing, waiting for the Azdgari to move, and to recharge their shields and Tractor/Repulsor weapons, even though niether were fully down.

Azdgari Fleet Status 50% Ammo
21 Azdgari Warships (2 Destroyed, 4 Moderately Damaged, 9 Lightly Damaged)
5 BattleCarriers (1 Moderately Damaged)
30 Azdgari Aradas (20 Destroyed, 5 Disabled, 10 Heavily Damaged, 2 Lightly Damaged)
98 Azdaras (97 Destroyed, 17 Disabled, 34 Very Heavily Damaged, 20 Heavily Damaged, 10 Moderately Damaged)

Igadzra Fleet Status 25% Ammo
7 Igazras (4 Destroyed, 2 Heavily Damaged, 2 Moderately Damaged)
4 Igadzra Aradas (14 Destroyed, 4 Moderately Damaged)

All Igadzra ships will stay back, and will fire repulsor beams at anything that comes across the system. There are still a good number of mines floating around in the carnage.
