Golden Horizon - Part IV

Four science vessels were quickly dispatched to Deneba, some of the leading Kayan experts on subspace rift theory on board. Their goal: scan the rift, and find what happened to the Emerald. They brought along a Crescent Fighter (Crescent fighters were considered expendable, since they were so outdated in Kayan space), to set on autopilot (unmanned) and trace the Emerald's course. Hopefully it would repeat the error that caused the Emerald's disappearance.

BACKGROUND DEVELOPMENT

Years and years ago, the Edien Empire invaded a far off and isolated galaxy known as IC 1613...

They found many races that their fought, destroyed, and enslaved, but then they explored father... And father... Soon they had explored a good portion of one whole half of the galaxy, but all but a small portion of it was inhabited. The rest was a wasteland, devoid of most life, and full of strange nebulas, gas clouds, alien minefields, asteroid belts, and most of all; blasted planets.

Many Ediens believe that there was once a war ages ago of unimaginable proportions that devastated a large portion of IC 1613.

However, the matter was considered 'Unimportant' by many in the Edien High Command, and so IC 1613 remained desolate and fairly uninhabited. The Ediens simply had no use for it; all the races had been conquered, and there was no other places to expand. They still retained a large amount of space there, but it was lightly defended and mainly just an industrial area.

But the mystery of the war over IC 1613 continued on...

Soon, a small group called the Omega Force was created. Their mission was to protect all Edien holdings in IC 1613 incase there was still a massive alien power hidden within the unexplored areas of IC 1613 that wanted to attack them...

Many scouts were sent out, but nothing was found. As far as the public was concerned, eventually the Omega Force was shrunk to almost nothing and funding was diverted to other projects.

But in fact...

...That was all a lie.

In truth the Omega Force had been expanded to over 10 Million ships, separate from the real Edien Navy. The Edien navy that everyone knew was composed of 30 million vessels. Omega Force was composed of another 10 million, all hidden or out scouting, that were to be used for IC 1613 only.

This was caused by a small encounter the Ediens had. They went to a small, isolated system, and came across a vast network of mines. They disabled them, but then ran into another massive web of Hunter-Killer Drones, left behind long ago by an alien race.

There was 50 Hunter-Killers, about 1/2 the size of an Edien Destroyer. On the other side there was 300 Edien warships.

The battle looked strongly in the Ediens favor, and the ancient drones and the Edien warfleet engaged each other.

A week later, an Edien Supercarrier (a specially designed ship used by the Omega Force) arrived in the same system, coming upon the wreckage of all 300 warships. However, the Drones had disappeared mysteriously.

Upon investigating the planet, an ancient alien shrine was found with these words...

_For many moons we have fought the scourge of this giant star...

For many more we will fight to save our domain from any Rak'La or Descendent of the Rodien...

May this For'Troa be a testimate to us...

For the Skri'Neth are supreme in mind, in body, in spirit, and in power...

Sho'Vos'Ran Den'Char Morok'Vass Thrawn_

And now, to this day, there is a dark force assembling the the IC 1613...

Who are they?

When will they strike?

Only time will tell...
