Message to REDChigh, RA, from Kayan Graduate Students. High Band encryption active
We are glad to hear that we have your permission to proceed with our studies, but are disturbed by your report that you are under attack. Your ships are needed to defend your people, we have arranged for the Kayan government to send us an escort of 3 gunships and 3 laziras to escort us through to the Rigel system, but you are welcome to send escort ships as well if you can spare them. We will depart immediately.
Again, thank you for your cooperation
END MESSAGE

"We'd be glad to cooperate with you," the Kayan ambassador replied. "We've recieved word from Militia command that the RA has come under attack by the race you speak of... they are indeed a hostile threat. We'll be glad to work with you on adapting your stealth field as well - it could be a powerful advantage in holding off the Akrahd."
"Also," another ambassador spoke up, "We're intrigued by your minefields. We Kayans once used a minefield to hold off the Ediens long enough for us to open up the subspace rift that led us and our fellow refugees to this galaxy. We even use a more powerful variant of the same mines as an offensive weapon - using them like bombs. Perhaps we could work to combine our mine technologies to improve your defenses and strengthen our "defense mines".
"Armor isn't our strong point," the first Kayan representitive spoke up, "but our ships are fast and maneuverable. I've been authorized by our government to trade you the plans to our Kayan Aradas if we decide to cooperate with one another."
"As for your offer to set up an outpost in the system next to Gatangu, we believe it would be smarter to move one system closer to Horoth space, in the system just to the southwest of Horthak. That way it will be better able to prevent the Akrahd from entering Horoth, RA, and Kayan space by passing through that system, forcing them to divert to other routes, or deterring attack altogether. All of our governments could work on it as a joint project, and it would get done quicker that way."

Rima landed on another planet. The main shipyard was on this planet. Rima frowned as she walked towards the goverment buildings. She had an idea she needed to put in motion. They hadn't seen any of the other races for awhile. She reasoned that they should reastablish contact with the other races or at least stop briefly on an outer planet. She sent out 2 ships and arada and a Courier to each race. If hailed they were to say they were just exploring and finding the other races and they meant no harm. After this she briefly thought out a name for the new ship coming up and decided to call the type of ships Silvarka. She checked on it's progress. Now it was going normally. She nodded to herself and went to wait out messages from the ships.

MODERATION: Usually I would revoke Reds post about coming under attack because the Akrahd now do have a commander, ImmortalFirefly. However, he and I have worked it out on AIM that, if I remember it correctly, a scouting fleet of his wandered into Akrahd space. The Akrahd fleet chased it away and followed it into RA space. The Akrahd fleet went back to Akrahd space and so they launched a few raids against them. Of course, remember that this will mean that the whole Akrahd Empire will be put on Tactical Alert, and a surprise attack wouldn't be so surprise.
OOC: Hawk, okay, I'll accept that thing about your fighter, but remember that it can't be TOO good. After all, the Federation Azdara is the fastest ship in the galaxy. The only other ship that competes with it is the Edien Interceptor, which is just a little slower.
---------------
Carnotaur thought for a moment. "Yes, we will help you. Bring the design to New Brooklyn (sp?). The Federation has a big research center in that city. As for the your fleet," Carnotaur said, looking at the ships in the atmosphere. "Tell them to go to Motif. I'm assembling a fleet to invade the Norhis system."

Hawk nodded and said, "Thank you, Mr. President. I have one more thing for you before I leave. This book holds two other things besides ships and star locations; it also holds designs to two ancient designs, the Kisani slipstream drive which appears to be better then yours; although you might adapt some of the modications to your own. It also had the designs to system jumpgates, though I fear it may be beyond even my comperhension. I have transfered these two things to data crystals so they could could be understood by you. It should be translated and everything."
Hawk handed two data crystals to Carnotaur and took his staff, placing it in its sheath. He bowed to the President and was off. On his way back to his ship, the Kisani thought on the slipfighter. Much of the Kisani technology had been lost in the wars, so the fighter would be somewhat less powerful. But all that mattered would be what he would use with it. His quest was paramount above all things. As he walked, Hawk hit his wristcom and sent a signal to the Kiran ships. "This is Hawk Kael, it would seem we have a go. Squadron Fire, the President wants ships at Motif. You're the best familar with Igadzra space, so you're on. Draven guide you, my friends."
Two dozen ships, mostly aradas and even a few capital ships veered from their course and headed up into space. They would be going to battle and they above all others knew the risk of not returning home. Hawk reached the Nisim and entered.
Five minutes and a confirm later, the silver ship roared up into the atmoshpere, headind to New Brooklyn.

Benden walked down the central passageway in Kayan Station. The offices were here, where they were least likely to become depressurized. The science labs were in containers that were bolted onto the hull. This allowed experiments to be jettisoned if they went wrong. Admiral Benden looked at the door next to him and stopped. He had walked to far. He backed up a few steps and knocked on the door of the Head of Communications Research. The door opened and a short bald man stepped out. Admiral Benden had to strain his neck in order to see him. "Hello Dr. Rozeincho. I am here to tlak to you about some research." The man grumbled a little, looked back in his office, and then started walking down the corrider. "Come on. This way," mumbled Dr. Rozeincho. The man was obviously sour that he had to be pulled away from his research. As they walked along the corridor, Benden explained the problem that they needed solved. When they reached the cafateria, their destination, they got some "food" and sat down at a table. "I think we already have a solution to your problem. Since nothing can travel at hyperspace through the Glactic Link, and we can't send matter through, no conventional communications can be used to contact anyone in the other galaxy. However, more than one hundred years ago, mankind created the solution. Radiononics. We send a message over the Radionic Spectrum using a huge transmitter. Radionics are limited by the speed of light, so they can travel through the rift, unlike commlink signals. There is no atomic structure, so it is not limited by that." Benden stared at him for a minute. "But..." he asked. "But, you would need the power only a station could produce. We don't have a station that could produce enough power near the rift." "And if I could get you that station?" ask Benden. "Then we could talk to anyone we wanted."
Admiral Benden walked back to his ship. He had put in the work orders to have a type Gamma-Alpha 2 station built one hundred and fifty kilometers from the rift. The institute was going to build the transmitter. He got to his ship and headed to his quarters. He wondered if he had any messages from President Carnotaur.

"Well then," the Kayan ambassador said, standing up, "it looks like we'll be working together then. In return for your plans for enhanced armor, we'll trade you the schematics for the arada, a ship with relatively strong shielding. It's the ship that the majority of our squadron is composed of."
"We understand that your minefields may need to be shifted," another ambassador spoke up, "in order to construct the outpost in the new location, and our squadron would be glad to assist in that procedure if you want our assistance. Otherwise we can return to Kayan space and await time for construction."
"Three of our scientists are part of this expedition," the first ambassador said, "and they will work with you to improve your stealth field. If they can make it impenatrable to our sensors, it should be pretty much impenatrable to anyone around here, even the Akrahd and probably the Ediens too."
Meanwhile, the scientifically outfitted arada and it's escorts arrived in the Rigel system. "This is Kayan researcher Ala Kecin-" the lead Arada broadcast to the RA ships in the system, "We are here to study the residual energy left by the subspace rift that brought us here. We will now proceed with deep level scans of this system, starting near the former rift exit point. We will take care not to scan any of your ships or military installations."

"Feel free to scan our vessels Kayan Arada, We'd like you to consider the RA a new ally, and the energy residue may tell you something. Feel free to land, or we can arrange to have one of our Laziras follow you to your capital to make the alliance more technical." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, on the RA capital, Lawrence is doing his best to take advantage of Jess's power. "We need a new vessel! we need the RA cruiser!" "You know that Dave wouldn't be for it. Why should I agree to it?" "You're not Dave! You're a pilot! You understand the weaknesses of our Warship against a Akrahd battlecruiser!" "Still... Dave should authorize it, not me." "I'm the Colonel of the entire military! I should be able to authorize it! But no, he puts a young girl in charge..." Lawrence's plan works out perfectly, and Jess reaches for her pistol. The camera's catch it, and Lawrence knows he wont get in trouble for this now- Lawrence's draw is faster, and he shoots her 3 times to the chest and once to the head. Jess collapses, blood everywhere. LAwrence calls for a med unit, but he knows perfectly well its too late. He turns to the camera. "As military colonel, I hereby place myself in charge of all military aspects of the RA. " He goes down to his office, and sends several messages. One to the SHIPBUILDING department, telling them to step up shipbuilding to replace current losses, and build 15 Aradas, 23 Helians, 30 Crescent fighters, 9 Laziras, and 4 Silver warships, with extra sdms. Also sends a message to the Engineering dept, and shows them a design Lawrence has dreamed of since he became a sergeant so many years ago. He calls it a cruiser, but its actually much larger than cruiser class, it even dwarfs the flagship. It would be able to take on several carriers. The Building, outfitting, researching, would drain the RA's economy, but it would be worth it. One cruiser could take on a sizeable fleet from any race. High firepower, high defense, He also uses a military Emergency override so Dave can't cancel it. He thinks a minute... naw, he'll let Dave decide whether to let the Horoth know about it. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, Dave is still on the Horoth homeworld, he tells the Horoth, "No, no I didn't mean I wanted the mines for a field, I know you wouldn't allow that, I meant the mines so I could create a ship-based version. I really do have to be going, I suddenly have a bad feeling... I need to go.. We can trade when that station gets up, and just send me a message and you'll recieve whatever resorces you want for it."

"We accept the plans for the Arada gladly, and we will begin alteration of the plans to allow our armour and shield technology to be part of the standard plans. "The movement of our mines will not take long, we will just order the subspace mechanisms to bring the mines into normal space, and tractor them to the proper location. We do advise your ships to stay clear of any mines they detect however. A squardon of clippers will be sent to you, as well as the RA, to escort your ships bringing materials in, until we have a more permanent method. "From what we know of you, your Crescent design station would be an ideal station, as it is easy to upgrade, seeing as it has many open spaces. "If your ships can begin bringing materials to the system, construction should not take long. We will move ships in that have our replication technology in, to begin fabrication of hull plates embedded with our armour technology. We will also begin transport of our shield generators to build in, along with your normal design station. "We will send a clipper back with you, so you may begin looking at its sheild generators and its stealth mechanisim, so you will have some idea how it works before the station is constructed. "We will send a message to the RA detailing what we have agreed, and requesting their help in construction. We will also see what they can do about enhancing our mines explosive capabilities, and other uses." ---------- Encrypted message is sent to the RA, asking if they have any ideas or suggestions. ---------- Fusion Scoops:1 post Satelite Intergration:1 post Station Construction:3 turns Arada enhancement research:5 turns for baseline.

Upon hearing the reply from the RA vessel, Ala Kecin contacted the lead militar escort, then opened a channel to the RA vessel that spoke.
"I have informed our milita escorts that you have proposed a more formal alliance, and our two lead Gunships will land to discuss it further at any area you designate. In light of our new alliance, as soon as we finish the deep level scans of the rift zone, we will preform scans on some of your orbiting vessels to see if they show the same signs of the energy residue, and if it is stronger due to your proximity to the rift zone. Kayan research vessel out."
----
"Your plans sound ideal," The lead Kayan ambassador said to the Horoth representitives, "We will have a squadron of our aradas bring what building supplies we can spare and the plans necessary to construct as crescent variant station to the assigned system. We graciously accept your information on strengthening our armor, it will prove useful, and could be a promising addition to our Laziras and Gunships. We look forward to a productive alliance."
Thunder was watching the local news program when Akyna came bounding into his office with a huge smile on his face.
"What's up that's got you in such a good mood?" Thunder asked
"I've just recieved word that the first Kayan Fireflies have been built and tested. The tests were a success... mass production is beginning as we speak!"
"That's excellent news!" Thunder said. "Let's celebrate! How about a Kyvaball game sound this afternoon?"
"Sounds great! I'm there."

As Carnotaur walked to his personal ship, the Red October, a lieutenant approached him with a data pad. "Mr. President, this just got in from our technilogical depart; they've finished work on the new multi-reflective armor and it's now installed on all of our ships. Though it's not as if we added a whole new layer or armor to all our ships, this still gives us a nice advantage because though it may not be a lot more stronger, its cheaper, lighter, and smaller than the previous version. This means that we can put more of it on our ships which makes them even more stronger."
Carnotaur nodded to the lieutenant then continued walking towards the massive Red October.
Ah, the Red October, Carnotaur thought to himself as we walked towards it. It had served him for over 11 years, during which time it had gone through many battles and in the end it was almost completely different from the original design (which was a Voinian cruiser). When all the Federation battlecruisers got refits, so did the Red October, and now it looked quite different from when Carnotaur first bought her.
However, there was always something about the ship that always stayed the same. As Carnotaur entered the ship via loading ramp, Carnotaur looked around at the hallways and corridors. They were slightly different than the ones found in other battlecruisers since the ship was, after all, originally Voinian and thus it was built for Voinians. The modern battlecruisers of today were instead designed for a multitude of races, but mainly human.
As Carnotaur walked through the hallways on his way to the bridge, he noticed many familar sights. The mess hall, which had pretty much stayed the same during the Red Octobers entire life. Certain walls and corridors. Familiar faces and crewmembers. There was even one turbolift in the Red October that had never been replaced with new Federation ones, and thus the old Voinian turbolift had stayed there. Some personel called it "The monster" since it had jammed on more than one occasion and was more quickly and jerkier than the new Federation ones. Still, Carnotaur loved it.
Walked onto the bridge, Carnotaur sat down in the bridge chair, one of the last noticable original things on the ship. Through all those 11 years that chair had never been replaced. In fact, it was hardly changed at all. Though Carnotaur did clean it it was still one of the few things on the ship which had barely been modified in any way. Of course, it was not totally original. The original chair, built for Voinians which Carnotaur hated, was now the chair for the tactical officer, who was, obviously, a Voinian. Carnotaur had then replaced the chair with a chair from an old Igadzra Igazra.
"Close all ramps, activate atmospheric thrusters," Carnotaur ordered.
The helmsman, an Azdgari named Kiran, nodded and slowly eased the Red October through the atmosphere and into space.
"Sir, all escorts in place," said the com officer.
"Thank you ensign. Helm, engage to hyperspace for Riomor."
"Aye sir," Kiran nodded, smiling, and pressed the button. The Red October rumbled slightly and then zipped off into hyperspace, following by its escorts the Subterfuge, the Scorcher, and the Double Agent, all Federation Light Cruisers which had escorted the Red October for at least 8 or so years.
Carnotaur was now heading for Freeport, a major Federation base. After touring that base he would then move on to Motif and later Stror on a tour of the front lines. Carnotaur liked doing this because he himself liked front line combat, and on many occasions would take the Red October into the middle of a battle, against the protests of his aids and sometimes even his escorts. It also kept Carnotaur updated on the situation there that no admiral or general, no matter how truthful, could ever fully explain.
Carnotaur, with these thoughts in his head, relaxed in his chair as the Red October zoomed through hyperspace...
Hawk looked down on the yards as the engineers did their work. The Kisani looked back into the room and said, “So everything can be done according to the modified plans there?” He pointed to the small holo-projector and the slipfighters skematics. Hawk had done some modifactions to the ship with the help of a brillant engineer.
The engineer in question was standing next to him, still looking out the window. She was staring out at the yards and smiling. Looking at Hawk, she said, “For the last time, Captain, yes. All has been taken care of. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must see to the materials.” With a nod from Hawk, the engineer left the room. Hawk was left alone to think on his plans.
He had arrived in New Brooklyn three hours ago, ready to begin his building. It would take a few days to build, granted, but the ship would be ready. The design for the slipfighter was based on an Arada configuartion, if a little bigger. Many modifactions were made and Hawk had finally agreed to them. The slipfighter would be armed with six quatum cannons and SAE launchers. Hawk would take out the SAEs from the Nisim and would also use his spare adaptive shield emitters on the ship. It would be equiped with a slipstream drive and such. And the drive system would allow the ship to be slightly faster then the Nisim.
His mind was ablaze with the posiblities he would do with the ship. His first quest however was to find and break his way past and into Kisa. All other things were irrelavent. Even fighting the Ediens or how the Federation would use the newly aquired technology.
Ragen Fleet was well on its way to Motif. The ships in hyperspace numbered two dozen aradas, fighters, and captial ships. Onboard The Reverence, a slightly modified Zidara, the flagship of the squadron, Captain Sisay sat in his command chair pondering their mission. Sisay was a human-miranu halfbreed who had grown up on Mira and was young, just having turned 30. He had been offworld when the Ediens struck, having long been Kiran. He wanted nothing more then to destroy those who had destroyed his homeworld. As such, Sisay was responisble for many Kiran raids. Sisay was also the most knowlegeable person in the sqaudron who knew this space as well as an Igadzra.
The captain had been thinking on an idea and was finally through finalizing it. He opened a com channel to four certain ships in the fleet and said, “Squadron Halik, you are to procede beyond Motif when the rest of the fleet jumps into real space. Keep on going to various spots that I’ll be sending you. Charlem you are to Norhis, Hekin to Igadzra, Aridane to Volosc, and Veridan to Ragni. Your mission is to scout out enemy fleet movements and get the Inferno out of there once finished. Whatever you do, get those fleet movements, but your safety is paramount. This is Reverence out. Draven be with you people.”
With that the four ships, two aradas, one lazria, and a Crescent fighter broke from the main fleet and headed in different directions. Sisay sat back, his hands folded as he thought on what would come next. Knowing the Ediens, this would not be easy.

Hawk looked at the progressing ship and back down at the plans. "Fates help me, but that's wrong! The shield emmiters are supposed to be one third reflow, not two thirds. Recharge the flow so it is correct." An human engineer looked at the Kisani as if he had come from the dephts of hell.
The engineer, an ensign, looked down at his own plans and shrugged. "What's the difference between one-third and two-thirds. I would have thought it would add more power." The man couldn't have put his foot in his mouth at a worse time. The Kisani looked at him and gave him a look that would've caused many people to look away.
"Ensign, let me give you little lesson explaining this. These shields are very sensitive when it comes to reflow. One-third allows for faster reflecting and draws less power. Two-thirds would in a sense, make the shield's strenght stronger...until it comes under fire from weapons. At that point the shield grid would overload, which in turn would cause the emmiters to blow. Not only will that leave a ship unprotected, it would also mean the pilot would be lunch-meat if battling Ediens. Understand now, Ensign."
The ensign nodded and moved down towards the ship, most likely to get away from the Kisani. Hawk turned away and came face to face with the human engineer who had arranged everything. Her face was red with anger. "Captain, you may have backing on this project, but I strongly advise you not harasing my work crew. They made a simple mistake in the shield grid, but I would've caught it. This project has the best engineers in the sector on it, but keep up this attitude and my next report will have a request to stop this building dead. Do we have an understanding, Captain."
Hawk nearly blew but calmed down and said cleary, "Yes we do, Commander. I'll try to keep my temper under wraps. Since you're here however, how is the light interface coming."
The engineer bit back an insult and replied, "Aside from the fact that we've never seen it before, it's coming along great. But just in case it fails, we've added manual controls that will fold out in case of such a thing. It would do great if ever the co-pilot gets into trobule. Hopefully, you'd be dead by then and it would give me a chance to celebrate. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some things to do." With that, the commander started on down to the slipfighter.
Hawk looked after her, amazed. Nobody insulted him before with such bravery. True he had recieved threats, tricky deals and the like, but insults like that were unheard of. Actually only one person like that had insulted him like that before, and Hawk had killed him in self defense. This woman drove him insane. Yet, why did he have the feeling that the world spun everytime she was around. The Kisani shruged it off and looked at the building of the hull.
The Veridan broke out of hyperspace in the Ragni system, weapons charged. Onboard, the captain of the vessel sat in his command chair, regarding the situation. The captain was Voan Draken, a Zidagar who had been a recent part of the Kiran. The Veridan was unique in being a ship fully manned by Zidagar. However that was also a very bad thing about the ship right now. Both crew and captain were in a mood for battle, no matter the odds. if they died, they died heroes.
Voan ordered a com channel be opened to all ships in the system and spoke in a battle-like tone. "To all Edien ships in Ragni, this is the Lazria Veridan. We have come in the name of the Federation to cleanse this system of your vile forces. So lets rattle and rock as the humans say. This is Veridan out." He cut the channel and ordered his weapons and helms officer to go in, maximum burn. The Veridan zoomed in and fired all forward batteries and SAD modules at the closest ship, a Edien captial ship. All shots fired hit the ship and the Lazria went in for another shot.

The Red October exited slipstream and then glided into the Riomor system. Docking with Freeport, Carnotaur prepared to depart.
Freeport, the once infamous Renegade station, had been turned over to the Kayans when the Renegade Alliance fell. However, it was then given over to the Captains of S-570. When the Kayans left, the Federation Alliance then took over all of the surrounding systems and turned Freeport into a major base. It had been severely enlarged, two docking rings were added both above and below the first two rings, and another outer docking ring was added because of the large amount of Federation Battlecruisers which came through Riomor and couldn't use the standard docking rings.
Carnotaur exited the Red October, with two guards, and then walked around the promenad for a while. After the day was over and Carnotaur had been through several tours and meetings, he went back to his secondary office; the Red October.
Settling into his office onboard the Red October, which was really just his extra large ready room, Carnotaur viewed any recent messages. He had one from Benden, reporting that he had gotten the crystals and left just as the Red October had exited slipstream. He now reported that the research was going well but the building of the station would take longer than previously thought.
Carnotaur sent a short message in reply stating that he was pleased with how it was going and would give him another assignment soon. After looking through a few messages from the tech department about the Slipfighter, Carnotaur then got a message from Admiral Johnson. He reported that his fleet was almost ready and that Norhis should be taken something that week.
