I'm going to assume that spl is leaving us from his most recent post if I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
The most important slot to fill seems to be Rebel command. Normally I'd recommend the Rebel subordinate step into the position but I doubt that Trugati cares to take the position.
Trugati, do you want the Rebel position? If not would you be willing to take over the pirate leadership from me? I'm not very good at important positions, but I could try.
Other than the Rebels all important positions seem to be filled. My second problem is that everything has moved to fast throughout the story. I was left in the dust at the very beginning in terms of technology and battle. I'd like to recommend everyone submit all their present technology in this OOC thread for revision (U.E. Admiral/spl if either of you have all the Rebel technology compiled it would be incredibly appreciated).
Since time is my major problem and some of you are probably going to be starting school soon (or have already started) I also recommend we decrease incomes in order to allow a more relaxed pace for gameplay. I'd also like to allow anyone who is attacked a 48 hour period of leeway to respond before the other person continues the battle without them.
Just suggestions, take 'em or leave 'em. Anyone else have recommendations? I, for one, would love to hear them.

So, are you Bob or UE?

Him with all his unconventional and complicated technology at incredibly fast rates of research are what pushed Admiral over the edge.
Let's see, I modified space bombs, modified Rapiers, modified Kestrels, and made a couple ships that I never used. As for unconventional and complicated: I made proton weapons longer ranged and I borrowed Nova's ability to create point defense weapons, and used it with a historic version.
That and his lack of willingness to comply with the moderator's reasonable requests. I'll bet anything on that.
Please show where I refused to comply with a mod's reasonable request.
Cadet was within' the boundries of the letters of the rules, but not the concept of them. The way i see it, every player got one fleet. Once his were killed, he just started new fleets wherever he damn well pleased. The rule about defeated fleets needing to be started from the capital was quite clear to me, but no, cadet had to go and pull out his book of technicalities.
Welcome to the real world. I'd also like to point out that it was completely approved by UE, not only the matter of it being a handy technicality, but being rather unfair to the Rebels given our capitals location vs the location of Sol, at which point I was granted a secondary capital at Nemesis.
Anything to win... or perhaps... Did he get bored with the story and decide to cheat to win faster?
I didn't cheat at all. Unless you consider the use of slightly modified EV tech at a success rate lower than in the game (missile jammers get more than 50% of the missiles in game if you are pulling off evasive manuevers) to be cheating.
Maybe he forsaw Admiral getting overwhelmed and wanted to push him off that cliff to kill the story?
Well, I did plan to overwhelm Admiral, but by invading him. Changed my mind and nailed Barnard.
You see it now, he claims the story is dead. He doesnt even want to try to save it.
It was killed when Bob and UE went off their rockers.

Sorry kid(Story Reader), but most (if not all), of what cadet says is true.
Paranoid, i do have a log of most of the technology for everyone, but i am missing a few things(most of them rebel stuff). If it's alright i'd like to send them to you via email... It's a really... really long list...
Cadet, the story can be salvaged. I'm just not up to lift a finger to do so. I got the bugger going(with help from Consul Bob, who's plug spawned my idea in the first place, jimbob with his good ideas, and few problems you noticed), I think my work is done... Alright, alright, I'm more lazy than anyone on the forums. You dont have to rub it in.
Er, when did you mod a Kestrel?
And i wish you'd invaded me... It wouldve made resigning as mod a bit easier...
------------------ Insanity has its advantages "I- I Swear Officer.. The Dwarf was on fire when I got here!"
Feel free to send it, but we should probably find out who the new mod (we really need at least 2) will be.
I vote Chin as he is uninvolved and seems to have an excellent grasp on the situation.
I vote Chin as well...but at this point I'm starting to have second thoughts as to whether we will be able to keep it all together. I'm hopeful, but not foolish.

Pertaining to Paranoid's post, I've been looking at the income values being used, to see if everything could be scaled back. U.E. Admiral, using the rules you set out for your calculations for the initial incomes of governments, I've been getting an "off by one" error on the Rebellion's income.
In your initial calculations, who get's considered what? (i.e. Sentinel Station is the only other dock like Stardock Alpha in the game, so are they considered the same? What's the difference between a Planet and a Small Planet? Is the Confederate "Astex" boost 59M? Was the Rebel income rounded off to the nearest ten-million? etc...)
spl_cadet: If Endless War manages to pull through, would you be willing to continue? The story isn't dead until the players leave, not when two people go "Off their rockers."
Trugati? Would you still be willing to continue with this story, even if spl_cadet decides to leave?

It's still revoked.
Just how long was U.E. Admiral planning this? The 21st? And flaunting it in plain sight as "Hgofz Rtytflt Lnlztd" the whole time?

Only the moderator(s) of a webstory can revoke posts. To my knowledge, nobody has been officially elected in U.E.'s place yet..
U.E. Admiral wasn't planning a date to resign....it just kinda happened.

Sigh... All I wanted to do was read a good webstory...
I see Endless War before me right now. I see some players who want to just let it die, and I see others willing to try, and a few others watching the situation mature who haven't spoken clearly either way (yet).
I'm a bit stubborn. I don't want to let this go, as some of you are saying I should. But in the end, I'm not one of the players.
General Rak, I'll tell you what: If you can wow Swithich, Cheezy_Cracker and Paranoid into jumping ship from Endless War and onto your new project, I'll let it go.
Offer something less than 70% vague. A quick summary, maybe a name; it doesn't have to reveal any of the deep, dark secrets I know you love to keep, perhaps just naming what aspects are going to be similar to Endless War , and maybe one of the aspects that is going to be better. Remember, it's not me you need to convinvce.
If you can't convince them, I will continue working to keep this story alive.
Does this sound reasonable to you?
------------------ ... Of course, I could be wrong...
Mr. Chin:
If you want to try to keep this webstory alive, then go ahead. But I've participated in enough other webstories to tell you that all the indicators of failure are here. The technology has accelerated too far ahead, the rules aren't great, and player interest just went over a cliff.
As for my project, you can (url="http://"http://www.powerpolitics.org/pw/index.html")read all about it here(/url). However, due to the complex nature of the rules (and the high level of quality I would prefer to maintain), the webstory will be only for experienced players that I've seen play very well (well, htj is the one exception :p).
(This message has been edited by General Rak (edited 08-28-2004).)
discrimination
Actually it's fair enough, Rak's webstory might be very fun but with the strict rules and regulations it would undoubtedly be very time consuming and without technology or much (obvious) encouragement of RPing it wouldn't require much creativity. That would eliminate a good portion of the enjoyability from my standpoint.
<Shameless plug> These sites are made primarily of old webstory players that have moved from the ASW boards. They require evidence that a player can write well but don't actually care if you have x-number stories to your name. </Shameless plug>

If you e-mail me a small battle writing sample, and some strategies you would use (as your preferred faction), I'll consider it. I just need to make sure that players are able to play well within a somewhat more demanding strategic framework. Inexperienced players are often unable to do that, but I'm definitely willing to hear you out.
