it kicks EV 1.0.5 ass as far as features are concerned.
you can blow up asteroids, and your escorts actually operate according to the laws of physics... for example
besides, it will bring back memories... and i'd like to see what the old graphics look like... they were different, ish.

You can destroy asteroids in 1.0.5, it just takes a really powerful beam weapon.

Actually, while EV 1.0.5b1 introduced new graphics for every ship except the aliens, 1.0.5b2 and the release version switched most of them back to the original versions for the sprites, although the 100x100 pictures are still the new versions.

My first version was 1.0.2, before I found this site, and the EV community. When I found all these people, I downloaded the new version. The graphics seemed completely different, then I discovered Magma...

I didn't fully appreciate MAGMA for EV as I did for Override... MAGMA was really needed for Override, where as the EV version just wasn't quite as impressive. I personally think some of the ships were ugly.

The MacAddict Magazines all come with a CD. You'll need to find an early copy. I believe I pulled mine off their first disk ever, "The Super Phat Disk." You'll probably have the most luck looking for a CD dating back to Summer '96.
In the meantime, If I have a chance, I'll sort through my old MacAddict subscription stacks and see if I can't find a copy.

that would be really cool, if you could find it for me, otherwise i'll head over to the mac dealer.
The only ones that reverted to the pre-1.0.5 look were the Confederate ships. When I asked Matt about this several years ago, all he had to say was "That was intentional".
David, do you still have a copy of 1.0.5b1's sprites?

Are you sure? I have different versions of the Defender, Lightning, and Clipper as well, and I seem to recall a modified Shuttle, although I don't seem to have it anymore.
