The Azdara has amazing shield recharge. Defender...doesn't.
The hawk probably has the fastest sheild recharge in the game, pity you can't fly it.

It's shield recharge doesn't plain stink, though. It beats almost every ship in the game. Besides, if you fly it right, the Defender's speed will keep it out of harm's way.
