haha, for the last time skyblade, you never asked ipvicus to stop!!!!! Maybe you said that you were bringing up the question to mac, but never stop. Had you really wanted him to stop, you could have posted an OOC post in the actual bfs topic saying so instead of in the discussion topic which you assumed that he would look at just as often. Ah forget it, the whole point was to take dreden, thus eliminating all dreden players, and before the hc were right on the capital's doorstep. Since that obviously didn't work out, I'll concede victory to the Dreden.
If my capital were under attack by a fleet 163 percent bigger than the defense fleet, I would have said "damn, we're screwed, good job" If the attacking fleet wasn't that much bigger, I'd bring up some points. Forget it though, oh well.
Skyblade, why would it take 5 months to get EV Webstory started?

It's going to take five or so months for EV Webstory to get underway because of my time restraints. You guys are really making this webstory hard, however, so I'm thinking about cancelling the entire project. If you are just going to regard my info as a bunch of garbage, then I have no intention to go on with additional webstories.

We're making it hard? The only reason it's so chaotic now is because of the lack of strict guidelines and rules set out in the beginning. I was hoping that your expertise could allow you to set fair rules and restrictions in your next webstory, but if you don't want to do it, oh well.

There must be a fair comprimise to come up with. We could give the aliens victory, and then do what Azdara said and go from there. After all, the Dredens goal is to get back to the Milky Way, not destroy the Aliens.

Funny, I would have thought it "common sense" to defend your capital first and foremost, especially when the rules offer no way to control the outcome of the battle if you dont.

Okay dokey. First of all. We are all friends here(I hope ;)), so quit with the put-down comments. Second of all, it's just a game, win or lose, you're still going to live to see the sun again. This is what I propose. Since we seem unable to work this out ourselfs, we go and get David Arthur to decide, that is, if he wants to. If he doesn't, then we can let Mac decide, because he is generally very fair. I like the David Arthur idea because he, not having been here any of the time, and not having favorites, will make a logical objective decision as he always does. Also, wasn't David Arthur originally going to be a mod for this? We sure could have used him. Any other ideas?

First everyone is upset because there are too many rules. Now everyone is blaming me for there not being enough rules. This is getting totally absurd, and no matter how much I try to balance things out, someone gets angry. Perhaps I should just retire from BFS... If I'm really as stupid as you guys think I am, then what's the point of going on? My job as a moderator was to make sure things stayed in check, and part of that was requesting what the heck the defending player should do when their capital is under attack. Is that asking too much? Does that really sound all that stupid? Guess so.
Take care of yourself. I hope I can some day start EV Webstory, but I don't know if I'll have discovered this new version of "fair" by then.

I never said that I thought that the rules were at fault in this game. I just think that you made up for your strategic and tactical mistakes by making up new rules to protect yourself. I have read Lidell Hart's History of the Second World War extensivly, especially the parts concerning Rommel's campaigns in North Africa. It strikes me that in those campaigns some of his most stunning victories happend when the Brittish commanders were somehow cut off from vital points in their defensive lines and unable to command the battle; while one of his most dire moments came when his tank (or jeep i forget which one)was disabled and separated from his forces. Fourtunatly for Rommel the British overestimated him so much that they didnt attack when the time was right. My point in this? It's very nice to say that you would have left an elite commander at dreden (and elite troops) but in this game its up to the real people to fight the battles, and to be there to fight them. You weren't there, you easily could have been, but instead of admiting that you were outplayed you whined.
I belive you said yourself after the Battle of Verdica to RC that you "always tried to make things unfair to your enemies." It's a bitter drink to have to swallow yourself isn't it? (edit)Oh yeah and the reason we would have gotten to pick our defense fleet is because we actually had commanders insystem. The reason we attacked Dreden without your input was that you didnt have a fleet commander present, in every past battle in BFS III (and probably II) where there was no opposing fleet comander insystem the attacking fleet chose the defense fleets. ok, I've been a little out of touch recently, and I don't really know what's happening. Where is my fleet and what is its status( I don't know if skyblade moved it or not)?

We aren't making up new rules, at least not totally. What's going on is that, like Skyblade was doing earlier, I assumed a certain amount of common sense when I wrote the rules. Again, what the hell would the point of "no one post battles when attacking a capital" be if I didn't intend for the defender to have a say? Just amke things harder for the attacker by making them go twice? That makes no sense.
Anyway, here's an idea I came up with to try to make things more fair for the Aliens:
Consider that if the Aliens were successful in capturing Dreden, that would yield a huge influx of new territory. Since a lot of posts in the main topic have been off or void lately, I suggest postponing the page 10 income (which is just around the corner) for all governments until after the battle of Dreden is over. For this interval, the HC and Dreden will be prohibited from attacking anything but the Alien capital in Sentarus, to keep them from taking advantage of this. This would mean that, if the Aliens can take Dreden before their own capital falls, they get an immediate influx of big money, to rebuild all fleets to a respectable size. I'd even let Ipvicus take temporary control of everything in the post he won at Dreden (assuming he does), move out all fleets and the Capital from Sentarus Prime to another location. This would give the Aliens a significant new lease on life, and the extra income might actually allow you guys to turn the tide. Basically, you'd get your put all the eggs in one basket shot all over again, but possibly with greater potential rewards. if that isn't fair to you, I don't know what else I can do, aside from looking at the system captures done in the meantime. I could see revoking the Dreden captures, perhaps, but I think Carno's and Rak's would mostly be legal. Also, the latest attempted attacks before you picked your defense fleet would also be void. Carno, that means you. I know you want to attack, but you can't yet, and that's all there is to it.
(edit) Added to this, after looking a few things over, the captures of Masada and Camden wouldn't really have worked, so you Aliens keep those. The Main Dreden fleet excepting Skyblade's section will stay at Deus, and the HC fleets will be at Exerd. That's about how far back they were when you first attacked Dreden, so I think that fully restores your initiative. (/edit)
Also, spl_cadet, I don't care if you're the Pirate leader, you are not a mod. There's a special exception for you in the rules about mods. As far as I'm concerned, Asriel is still the Pirate leader anyway, you're just controlling fleets in his absence.

(Note - if anyone besides spl_cadet wishes to argue with this, let me point out that his last stats quadrupled the real number of Styx fighters for no legitimate reason. Beams don't matter when you get hit with Missiles,)
(Note2 - since spl_cadet implied that the defense fleet fought to the end, and the stats seem to reflect this, Darven is now controlled by the HC. Main reason for the changes is that spl forgot to include damage done to his fleet before the Interdictors were forced to flee.)

A) WTF is that supposed to mean? You don't have any money to buy a Pioneer right now anyway. What makes you think you have that kind of authority?
Actually, you don't really have to worry, as I'm considering freezing the Milky Way Galaxy temporarily for related reasons, but my previous points stand. Don't necessarily expect that I'll wait for you to post before doing anything though, especially since you have no funds now anyway.
