Well, according to Macavenger, the planets will not be ready for a few days, and so you can't begin the alien missions for a few days.
I have made a minor plot change, or addition, or whatever you want to call it. I'm going to have about 1/3 of the galaxy (not quite a half, so that the G.A. still has more systems than the pirates) conquered by the pirates. This, I think, will be a big improvement.

Actually, I'm working on that a bit now. Just sent you an e-mail, since I'm not sure how much you want revealed here, so go check it.

Ok, I replied. This can be revealed: Evildrome and the south-eastern pirate worlds need to be linked each to one of the hypergates, and the hypergates each to an alien system.

Check your mail again, I don't think I have the hypergates...
Somehow, in the process of making the new galaxy, I lost those systems. Probably the copy+paste part I mailed you a ResEdit file with the fixed systems. Just paste those into the already existing syst resource in resedit. But don't replace the whole syst resource, just paste those in and click yes if it asks to replace.
I have given several systems in the East to the pirates, as well as some to the south a couple to the west. It's more of a large conflict now than just a small problem.
Wow, I just made my thirst post in a row in my own topic. I'm having a conversation with myself... how pathetic
Skyblade, I named a new version of the Torpedo the Skyblade, or the Skyblade Torpedo. I needed a name, and your handle popped into my head. You don't mind, do you?
Well, OS X seems to be at least partially fixed (it runs now, but still goes into occasional inexplicable weirdness because of some setting we have that it doesn't like), so I should be able to (hope) work on this for the next few days. Plan on it maybe tomorrow, probably Wednesday, maybe Thursday at the latest.

I certainly don't mind. I'm quite honored.
Funny you chose that name, though. I called one of my outfits for my own EV plugin the "Skyblade missile" years back. Just seemed appropriate...

Alright, cool. I may make it the Epsilon Torpedo and the Skyblade Missile instead, but I'm not sure yet. Skyblade sounds more appropriate for a missile, the way you had it.
Macavenger, did you get the updated systems that I sent? And if so, did you get them to work?
I'm going to create a briefcase, I think. That way we can all upload our latest versions of the plugin so we don't have to worry about emailing them to everyone.
Oh, and I'm sending an email right now, ares1...

Yes.
I'm not sure how much time I'll have to work on it today, but I certainly will have some time by tomorrow.
Ok, guys, I have realized something very, very bad.
I had never thought of this, but for the Pirate missions we are going to want them to conquer the galaxy, and the same for the G.A. That means creating alternate Spobs for every single Spob either in the standard universe, or in the alien universe.
I don't know anything about this, but to make a planet go from one gov to another, don't you need to make the mission make a new planet visible, and another planet dissapear? Therefor, have a copy of every spob that you would want the gov to change? Erg... That will be a huge undertaking. Or we could have this plugin end in a draw, leaving it open for a sequal. Or we could them make peace at the end and go their seperate ways, or something along those lines...
Or is there another way to change the planet attributes without creating a duplicate and editting that to appear later? I'm not even sure that I know what I'm talking about. Ill open up Final Battle in ResEdit and see how he handled it.
It's all about the VisBits, baby. You get those working and you'll have a beautiful plugin.

The only way to change any attributes of a planet or system is to swap the entire system including its planets with duplicates.

David and coreycubed are correct: you will have to change the affected systems and the stellar objects they contain, and you will have to make use of visbits to bring it about. But the process is more dreaded than dreadful. You can do it. Hey - even I can do it. As with other plugmaking goals, it's best to start small.
There is a great chapter on this very thing - How to use VisBits in a system - in the so-helpful Beginner's ResEdit Guide for Escape Velocity , which I bet you have on your hard drive right now.

Alright then. Whatever you want. After all, It's your plugin.
Pirate missions which allow them to conquer the entire galaxy? Ouch. Your plugin sounds like it will take awhile before being completed...
In my plugin, the game starts out with the Pirate already in control of 1/3 of the Galaxy and just a littlle less than the Rebels had. It would be a lot like FInal Battle- with 2 groups trying to eradicate eachother. You decide which to fight for, and it will have to have some conclusion. If it ends in a draw, or something, how interesting would that be?
Do you have better suggestions? I'm a little skeptical of my plan, too.
I don't think that I can replace every single planet. That's too much for me, or my team, to do. I would like to get this out some time. Is there a way I could end the plugin in an interesting way without having to have every planet conquered? I imagine an "Everybody made peace and lived happily ever after" ending would not satisfy the average EV player.
And, yes, I do have the Resedit beginners guide on my desktop. Litterly. It's the EV bible but I can actually open it....

Simple, yet good plot.
You could always end your plugin in such a place as to create an introduction to a secondary plug...
