What's the differenc ebetween the downloadable demo version of CS and the full version? I mean, does the demo have all the things the full version has except, you cna only use it for 30 days or something?

The demo is a 30 day version with only a few of the graphics, sounds and music files that come with the full version on the CD. You can also not compile a release without it coming up with a message saying that the game was made with an unregistered version of Coldstone. The demo is also version 1.0.1 but the version on the CD should be 1.0.2.

Ok, thanks for the info. πŸ™‚

30 days? It is not! I had mine for about 90... strange...

The thing about it is that you can spend as much time as you want checking it out, but you are breaking the license that comes with it when you extend it past 30 days.

Also, the demo version of Coldstone limits you to only 40 different events. This can be quite a crimp in a full game.... if anyone manages to make a decent, in depth game with 40 or less events, then I want to know how they did it. πŸ™‚

Well, you could make a game of connect 4. That's always a time killer.

If anyone manages to make a game of Connect 4 using Coldstone, then I will, without hesitation, give them 5 (five) karma points. And, in an even more impressive sense, if you can do it with 40 (forty) events or less, such as is the demo restriction, whether or not you are using the demo, I will double the reward to 10 (ten) karma points.

Anyone up for it? πŸ™‚

It's basically a puzzle/concentration game. The playing 'field' is a grid of holes, in which you drop coloured tokens, coins, whatever. The object is to line up four tokens in a row, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. You play against a computer (or human) who has the same objective. Thus, you try to block their moves, whilst making your own, and trying not to screw up. πŸ™‚

I'd love to see something like this in Coldstone. If I was sufficiently motivated, and had the time, I might try for it. At least, as a player.vs.player game. Might be possible. πŸ™‚

I was working on something like this for Visual Basic early in the year. I was using a 3x3 grid and a 5x5 grid, AI and player vs. player versions. I couldn't figure out how it would not end in a draw most of the time.

Insert profound thought
or clever witticism here

Well, that's the only problem. It would really only work properly with two human players. Unless you could have the AI set at different difficulties.

So... No one ever made connect four with the demo? Shame that.

The original topic is pretty ancient. Please create a new topic instead of expanding such an old one. As it is, I do not know why you made this comment. Connect Four WAS made with Coldstone. I see no reason why it should be made with the demo.
