Alright, allow me to set a few things straight:
First, I am not seriously considering a lawsuit (It's hard to be sarcastic in typing...). That would be ridiculous and have absolutely no chance of accomplishing anything. As for using the petition as spam, why would I spam it? I intend to send it once by snailmail and once by email (linking to it). I am not going to send it 500 times and demand they do anything. If I send any text in my petition at all it will something along the lines of:
Quote
Dear Beenox Inc.,
For a long time now the ColdStone community and those awaiting games being made by it have been wanting an update to ColdStone. When OS 10.3 was released, the games made by ColdStone stopped functioning completely. The intent of the enclosed petition is to bring to your attention, directly, that the those who signed the petition want this fixed, preferably soon. Please read the petition and look at the signatures it includes. All we ask is that our games work with the latest Mac OS.
Respectfully, Michael Diamond
I'm basically restating the petition without spamming or making any attacks or wild demands. The petition's only goal (well this petition ) is to get ColdStone working properly in OS 10.3. That's all. If any other goal seemed to be intended or any other means (spamming, for instance) implied, let me assure you that it was misrepresentation. I do not want to spam or attack Beenox, as getting them mad at us will not encourage them to update ColdStone. If anyone wants to use the petition to do that, make your own.
EDIT: A "gramitical" error

This is how I use sarcasm:
GrahamVH states sarcastically "Yes, a lawsuit would be perfect in solving this problem".
People will understand your sarcasm better if you do that.

I'll do that in the future.
I know that the panther problem is the main priority though I think that Beenox should try and fix the save game problem in 10.2 for the next update. Or is that fixed in 1.0.2?

There is no 1.0.2 - that's the problem.
(Unless you're talking about the "built with an unregistered version" bugfix, which as far as I know has no official version number, and does not in fact fix the 10.2 save game problem.)

The Panther update? What about the other problems, you know, like the whole list that Glenn has? What about the beta list, the one with the last entry (unanswered) March 20th, 2003, by me. Before that, it was Mr. Bledfast the 28th of December, that was unanswered as well. What about the no-save problem in Jaguar? That makes PoG hard to play. Heck, I can't even update to Panther and play it? I'm an artist, not a programmer. I need this application to work for me, not a list of excuses. We've got a lot of time invested in this, over half of it waiting time.
The way I understand it, it's all on Beenox, as they need to finish their application. This leaves ASW and me (and you too)in between a rock and a hard place.
Guess who I care about?

All of what you say may be (and probably is) true, but if we scream at Beenox or start a lawsuit we won't get anywhere. The petition is a way to peacefully bring the facts to Beenox: Over 50 CS users have upgraded to or plan to upgrade to Panther and they want CS to work in 10.3. If Beenox releases an update to fix that issue, then it's a start and we can go from there.
I'm not saying i'm going to sue anyone, I'm saying the petition is a waste of time. Beenox is well aware of the snake oil they're selling.
I have to ask. If beenox CANNOT fix the CS engine then would it be possible to re-write it in Java. From what I understand Java is very similar to C++ plus it is fully cross platform so we would never have any problems with the engine not being able to work with an OS.
I think that the 3 things that bug me the most about CS and the ones that need fixing the most are: •Panther bug •Saving in 10.2 bug •Map preview in OSX bug
Pilky, it was written in realbasic which is why it has so many problems.
In either C++ or Java there would be none of these bugs. Java is a very flexible language and could be used to write ColdStone, but I don't know enough of it, nor do I have the time to make another ColdStone. If only...
ColdStone was written in RealBasic, It would be possible to recompile it using an newer version of RealBasic if we had the source code, but Beenox would have to release it to us, and given how they have treated us so far i would say the chances of this happening any time in the near future are VERY slim.
Of course someone could write a similar engine in java, or any other language (actually java probably wouldnt be the obvious choice for this) but it would take a team of experienced programmers, and no one's gonna do it for free.

Pilky I believe i solved the OSX Map preview bug (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum48/HTML/002299.html#")http://www.ambrosias...ML/002299.html#(/url)
I tried to fix the map problem though it wouldn't work.
And I always though that the editor was made in RB though the game engine was made in C++. If it was all made in RB then someone might consider making a program like CS in Java or C++ by using the Apple Developer tools. I would if I had the time to learn either language. The only hard thing would be trying to make CS files compatible.
Hi everyone. I feel that now is not the time to send the petition because Ambrosia has recognized the problems and pulled the product. Debra if you find a way to get your name off the petition can you please email me at Pedrith@hotmail.com.
Thank you very much.
I'm curious to see where this will all end up.
Ambrosia has recognized the problem from the start and responded to our emails. From what I've heard, emails to Beenox have been ignored and Beenox is in general being uncooperative (well nto talking to us). The petition is targetted at them and won't show up in Ambrosia's mailbox, physical or digital.
I still think that it would be best for everybody if beenox handed over the full source to ambrosia. That way ambrosia could find someone to help them develop it. Who knows, Apple may be interested. It'd surely be a selling point for macs. The easiest computers to use with the easiest way to make games. Can you just imagine how cool CS would be if apple developed it.
<drooling>
Pilky, please, it's just not going to happen that way. It is their property and whether or not they are willing or able to fix it, it is still their property. This has been asked too many times now. If you want this thread to remain open, please back off on that thought. ~RD

They have the source to all the other games they publish, so why shouldn't they have the source to Coldstone? Wasn't it Ambrosia who put out the 1.0.1 update? How could they release that without haveing the code?

The same reason they released Coldstone. Ambrosia did not build Coldstone nor did they create a patch to Coldstone. They only distribute Coldstone and the patch for the same reason a store that sells computer games doesn't have the sorce code for the computer games it sells.
the engine is pure C++, the GUI front end is RB this is why you recieve C++ style error messages.the front end communicates and write instructions for the engine.
The engine is a plugIn to the frontend. You give the front end files it writes events and organizes and lists them, Then it bundles it all up into a data file for the engine to read at runtime. The engine never changes.
This will fix a lot of the problems such as crashing when clicking on things etc. But it is uncertain if it will fix its overall compatibility with Panther. Despite the fact that the engine never changes and the module does ever so slightly, Panther has broken rock-solid applications.
