Coldstone has suffered from some unresolved bugs for some time, and with the release of Panther it seems that all games built with Coldstone also do not work correctly. As such, we are sorry to announce that Ambrosia has withdrawn Coldstone and Pillars of Garendall from sale until further notice.
We are working with Beenox to resolve these problems, and are doing our best to ensure that we can provide updates to all our customers as soon as possible.
Customers who have ordered Coldstone and PoG already, please bear with us -- we are burning CD's for you as fast as possible and will also be sending you a pressed CD with the updated copy as soon as we have it.

Wel, it makes sense since you have a product that the author apparantly isn't willing or able to fix. I certainly hope that Beenox does at some point address the bugs and incompatibilities.

Thanks for the info. Grrrrrr. I am beginning to really get annoyed with beenox. All they need to do is give the source code to another company. They can't be bothered about losing the income as they aren't bothered about updating it

In my opinion, a petition is the wrong way to go about getting beenox to update their application. A lawsuit would be better. Everyone here has a certain amount of money invested, and an untold amount of time.
Start small, get bigger. Sign the petition, we'll have 75 sigs (plus, the petition is free... the lawsuit costs money).
If the petition has no effect, then I'll ask my dad about the prospects for such a case (he is a lawyer in general, though not specifically for this type of thing...)

Well... I would... but I can't. I have absolutely 0 control over the petition after I make it. I can't even really end it. It just stays archived until it's inactive for a certain time. Then I might get an email... (not sure about the final ending part). But there is no way to make any changes to it including adding/removing sigs (if you could add sigs it would be really stupid ). Sorry. :frown:
P.S. Out of curiosity, why do you want your name removed from the petition anyway?

Probably because she does not wish to become involved in any sort of spam campaign, or perhaps in a public lawsuit against Beenox. If Debra wishes/ed to take legal action, I'm more than certain that she can make that decision personally.
Although I did sign the petition, I do not endorse the use of it as spam. I believe that Beenox should take the time and effort to update Coldstone to fix the outstanding issues, and to retain compatibility with OSX - I just think that spamming is not the correct method to obtain any goal whatsoever, nor would it make Beenox look more favourably upon any communications with the community, or with Ambrosia if they start to receive millions of copies of the petition, or any other complaints or other documents.
My view? For the moment, leave it in Ambrosia's hands. They have a very good service reputation (at least to me) and are looking into the issues now. I'm sure that Beenox and Ambrosia are both aware of the petition, and of the dissatisfaction in the community. Rubbing their noses in the facts isn't the way to get things fixed.

I have a lot of faith in ambrosia getting updates to Coldstone and PoG as soon as possible. I think you should send the petition AFTER we get our next update from Ambrosia. I have asked David Dunham to email me as soon as he gets any more news so that I can post it on the CRC (the chances are that it will already be on here). Lets let ambrosia sort it out. They have taken the first step by stopping selling CS and PoG. Remember that this will mean lost income for ambrosia as well as Beenox and they wouldn't be doing this if they weren't on our side. If we do get an update that fixes the major bugs in CS then maybe we could ask NICELY for some new features. But if we did we would have to start small. For example, start with some basic formating for dialogs (Bold text, fonts, sizes etc) and work our way up to whole new features. If we break the ground and get 1.0.3 out then we have a slight advantage. Then we could help beenox see that, if they put some time into developing CS and try and make a PC version, it could be a very successful program and make them a LOT of money.

The only thing that I agreed to when I signed the petition was that the petition would be sent. Anything else is misrepresentation.
We have had replies and information from Ambrosia. I do not understand the need to bug people (including Ambrosia), spam, demand compliance, send more than a petition (which I expected to be sent before now or at this time), or sue anyone, nor will I be a part of it. I do not understand why some people on this board seem to need to demand from David or Tom when they have been giving us information.

If I have been reading through this topic correctly, nobody has said anything about using this Petition as a method to sue or spam anyone. If I have been misreading it then please take my name off of the petition also.
Dampeoples, I disagree. A lawsuit would not get us anywhere. The only thing it would achieve would be making Beenox and possibly Ambrosia to greatly dislike this community. Besides on what grounds would you sue them under? False advertisement? They had no way of knowing that Coldstone would not work with Panther until Panther was released. Now that that has been acknowledged Beenox and Ambrosia have stopped the sales of PoG and Coldstone until this problem is addressed. A bug fix can not be achieved overnight, especially one of this magnitude. Look at it from the programer's perspective it isn't just that there is a small glitch of spells not casting properly. The entire program that Coldstone builds doesn't work. It could take a long time to find such a bug. My impression of the petition was to remind Beenox that we are still here and want Coldstone to be fixed.

It was damnpeoples that mentioned a lawsuit. I think that people are just getting agitated. We have asked for bug fixes for ages though we have heard nothing (from beenox, ambrosia almost always reply). Now that there is a really big bug ambrosia have posted there intentions on the board. I think that most people are wanting more info a lot faster. I think we all have to remember that it is Beenox we are dealing with here. It is like getting blood out of a stone
