Well, now that Panther is out, I suppose that this is the time of trial. Has anybody bought it yet? If so, does Coldstone run okay? Does it still have the infamous Jaguar save game bug? Does it have any noticeably new bugs?
Oh, and if you get a chance, go to (url="http://"http://apple.com/ca")http://apple.com/ca(/url) and see the Panther countdown timer go up! (this may have changed by the time you read this).

I've been trying out the demo under Panther, and am running into problems when I launch even the demo. The screen fades out, the music starts, but I'm stuck looking at a black screen...
Problem with Coldstone/Panther? Or is it a problem with RealBasic/Panther?

Welcome to the boards, Gozar. At this point it's still too earliy to know, but people are looking into the problem. Of THAT you can be sure. Did you try to run Pillars of Garendal? Does it do the same thing?

I tried Cosmic Memory and it gave the same problem. It didn't matter if I ran it full screen or in a window, I just don't get any graphics. I emailed Ambrosia yesterday, hopefully I'll get a reply soon!
p.s. I'll download the POG demo now and see what happens.

No game made with Coldstone works with Panther. not even the build version. They will crash on startup.

I think that there is now an urgent need for an update to coldstone We need an organised mailing spree on beenox asking them to fix this. Whos with me. Nobody. Thought so

I'm with you! I just sent an e-mail off to Beenox about it.

Maybe this will help us... (url="http://"http://www.petitiononline.com/csos103/petition.html")http://www.petitiono...3/petition.html(/url)
Don't hold your breath, you wont get any reply. Even David Dunham (Ambrosia) does not get a reply from Beenox. And speking of which: did anybody mention this to Ambrosia? They will not give you a reply either, but maybe they might realize at one point that they have enough reasons to actually stand up and do somehting about it. Maybe this is that point.
But I signed the petition.
One Question: did anybody test compiling a game under panter and then testing it?
------------------
That's the problem. CS doesn't run under panther. :frown:
ah, I have misunderstood it then. Thought the games did not work.
This is getting better and better, isn't it

Actually, the coldstone editor works fine, as far as I can tell. It's the actual game engine that doesn't work (like when you launch from the editor). I have tried to go into a game and it only shows a white screen, (in POG, it's black). Since this is the wave of the future for OSX (and all Mac programming), it needs to be fixed.
But didn't Gozar say...? Bah, whatever.
EDIT: We now have 9 signatures for the petition, keep 'em coming. If you want to sign and are too lazy to scroll up ( ), the address is: (url="http://"http://www.PetitionOnline.com/csos103/petition.html")http://www.PetitionO...3/petition.html(/url)

I signed. Seems a bit odd that I'm the only person who signed who hasn't bought Coldstone yet. I think that I'll spread the news about the petition to Ambrosia Banter and Just Games.

I signed it. I hope that Beenox will comply with the demand. Please everyone sign this!! This is incredably imprtant to the survival of the Coldstone Game engine.

I too, obviously found problems with getting games to work in 10.3.
I also find it interesting that if you go to the new Ambrosia Store that Coldstone is not listed as a product under the Utilities section.
Does this mean Ambrosia and Beenox are letting Coldstone die? Let us hope not; a friend of mine briefly looked at Coldstone and said he couldnt find anything better on his Windows system, and for quick development and ease of use I havent found anything else that comes close on the Mac.
If Ambrosia and Beenox are to let Coldstone languish, maybe they would consider turning Coldstone into opensource, so that the Macintosh/Open Source community of RealBasic developers support future bug fixes and the like.
Not to throw a damper on your efforts.... If you don't have WELL over a hundred owners to sign, you probably will not achieve anything but a few chuckles from both Ambrosia and Beenox. Why would they spend the time updating something for only a few hard core owners? (Now I wish I was a quality programmer!)
who says that the people that sign it have to be coldstone programmers? People that play games made with coldstone are also affected. Is this petition mentioned on the PoG webboard? They are affected as well. I'm sure that ambrosia wont just stand back while two of their products just lay there and die. Post about the petition on as many forums and mac gaming sites as possible. I have posted on the XvsXP forum which has over 380 members and the Proboards support forum which has over 25800 users. I have also posted on the iDevGames Forum as well as sent it in as news to iDevGames. It has been posted on the CRC forum and I am going to put it in the next Issue of the CRC magazine. We need to get as many people to sign this whether they use coldstone or not. They are ultimately the target market for our games and so they will be affected too.
Please change the petition chaos so that anybody can sign it. It is the best way to get more signatures. ------------------ Pilky (url="http://"http://www.mcubed.cjb.net")M cubed homepage(/url) (url="http://"http://www.coldstonerc.cjb.net")Coldstone Resource Centre(/url) Cheesiest film line of all time "Flash I love you but we only have 14 hours to save the earth" from Flash Gorden
