'Posing' A Question

Okay, I spent some of my time in Poser recently, and I have come across a question that maybe someone here could answer.....
Where is the light source and camara supposed to be if I want to export out the walking animation pictures to use in Coldstone? i know something similar to this question was asked some time ago, but I was not arounf for the outcome of the answer. It would really help me out if someone knew. If not, thanks anyway.

In Main Camera, set xorbit to -30. If you set the Focal at the top of the main camera to 334, you won't get a taper. (edit) oops, for people, you'll WANT a taper. But for straight objects, you won't.

I was just spending some time today to see if I can make the light globe NOT rotate with the object. So far, no luck. Just set the lights in such a way to make it look good. And make sure you set the background to white.

Have you tried multiple light sorces? Try one on each side (total of 4) off the top by 20 degrees. That way - if they rotate, big deal! (doesn't -30 give you a 60 degree angle?)

Just trying...

i created a ring of lights and added it to the library so i can use it again and again. In the library one can add a new item. Works in poser 4, should also work in 5.

Does the library ring of lights adjust to the angle of the figure? Or does it remain the ring however the figure is posed?

Either way, wouldn't the character be surrounded by light, stopping shadows on the character?

Not quite. When you turn the figure, the lights follow and the character's side facing the audience can go into dark.. I've fooled with it, and the lights still follow the character, but I've just made a library light set that lights the way I want it no matter which direction the character is facing. Thanks for the suggestion! Saves a lot of time.

could you be as so kind enough as to email that library file for me? I can't seem to match it up on both sides as well as I hoped, and not knowing much about Poser doesn't help either. Thanks!

Um....why not select Hip or Body on the character and rotate that? That leaves the lights fixed, which seems vastly preferable.

BTW, John Malis has a new Dwarf model created for RPG use....it's at DAZ now.

That's an idea. I hadn't noticed that the lights don't move with the critter. I tend to use SnapzPro2 to take pictures, and rotating by the hip moves the critter out of sync. That's why I tend to use Main Camera for rotation. Thanks for the advise.
