If anyone has has an NPC (animation and graphics) for deer, fox and squirell, PLEASE let me know. I have a game which requires these animals (and bunnys too if you have them). I would give you credit and of course a "peice of the action" (if I get real lucky).
Thanks for you time, people.

I do, but it's not for free I'm afraid. I have a deer so far, but only walking. Am working on other actions, as well as the doe. Can do bunnies and probably squirrel. Not sure about the fox. I'm sorry that it's not for free, but I think that if I do quality work for 2D gamers, and put in the hours it takes, they should pay for it at what I consider to be a really reasonable price. I've decided to release all my stuff for commercial use without any strings attached, just credit. You buy it, it's yours to use in your games. uhmmm the only thing i can think of is if you have myth 2 you can use the extractor app someone posted a while ago on myth mill, and run it to view the animations in game, study how they did thier squirrel and wolf and try to make your own squirrel and wolf into a fox. this way you can get a feel for what is needed. i dont think it would take very many animations at all to make them walk, and you only need to make half the animations then you can flip the graphics and use them for the other 180 degrees........

Myth was created by Bungie. Bungie is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft has the money, time, and demeanor to prosecute for copyright infringement.
If you steal graphics, even if you alter them, you are violating copyright. Since Albader is intending on selling his product, this would be unadviseable.

Question: Is it illegal to use them as a guide or reference? I mean, not trying to duplicate it, but just seeing how they did it for a starting point.
------------------ You know you live in Arizona when you see someone driving with oven mits on.. and you think they are clever.
uhmmmm no, bad stark. i said use the extractor to VIEW the animations, STUDY and try to make your OWN. """this way you can get a feel for what is needed.""" not copy what was needed.
"""STUDY how they did thier squirrel and wolf and try to make your OWN squirrel AND wolf into a fox.""" aka use a physically similar creature to make YOUR OWN.
i didnt condone copying etc and the software extractor is officially recognized legal software posted on the MILL for making bungie plugins.
its how ive learned to do everything. figuring out what people did before me and doing my own spin. id liek to try and be original in some matters but magically figuring out everything on your own is just brain hurting.
looking at art and teaching yourself technique, aint nothin wrong with that unless you think you must be taught everything by a official teacher so it isnt stealing its "learning". same thing they teach you at college. watch nature videos, disect animation. play a video in slow mow and draw every frame you see so you can store it subconciously and reproduce on demand.

It depends.
My understanding is that if you use a picture, even if you alter every pixel, it is copyright infringement.
If you solely look at it, and then start a new graphic in your paint program and draw everything yourself(ie, not copy/pasting the pic and then altering it massively) then it should be fine.
But don't take this as gospel. When money is a factor your best interest is to consult legal advice. Yes there is a cost, and yes it is upfront. But it will certainly be less expensive than if you mess up and are sued.
To Deb; Thanks for the offer, but at this time, my money (retirement) is tied up in living from month to month. Do you accept payments based on sales? What price am I looking at for each? (walking is fine)
To the rest about using an application to view and make my own. I have no (<--Underlined ) artistic abilities. (i.e can't draw a straight line without a ruler - and still need help! ) I wish I could do that, make my own, but I really can't draw and I know my limitations.
On another nore: You people are great! Thanks for your assistance.
Albadar, I'm sorry, but it took me a long time and is taking me a long time to do the work necessary to have the kind of creatures I need to use in my own game, which are deer, bunnies, etc. As you can see on the web page, the deer is $17.
(url="http://"http://www.danillitphil.com/graphics/index.html")http://www.danillitp...hics/index.html(/url)
I'm building my graphics now, so there's not much at all up on the page. Of course, people who don't care about other people's property could steal the gif images of the deer walking that I have on the page, but good luck with the other 7 directions.
I don't really want to enter into a contract with other people and gain a piece of their games. The possibility of bad relations is tremendous in that kind of situation. I just don't want to deal with it.
I wish you the best, and I hope your game sells tremendously!!

Well, It sounds like we are needing the same kind of files. OK, You want to be paid and get the credit too. How soon for the other animals you are making for your game to appear on the web site? I like the looks of the deer, and I'm looking forward to the rest as soon as you are able. I had no idea you were going to have trees there too. What a great bonus! I'll look forward to your response when it gets here.
Yes, trees, flowers, animals, anything I can. It takes a great deal of time to make the files, so check back from time to time on the website. I'm hoping that I can get most of the animals done by the fall. I'll switch from making my maps now to making animals and to build that website.
It's simply business. But at least I've released everything for commercial use: you buy it, it's yours.

Ouch, that's really late. But I gues I have time to add a few things that weren't revelant to the game play- into the game. They will add "depth" to the story line but I really was hoping you were faster than that. "All things come t those who wait." I'll just stand in the corner over here, and wait. OKAY? But don't rush on my account. Ohhhhh; elms and maples and oaks - oh my!
Okay. I'll simply put the animals up on top of the ol' priority list. I still don't know about the fox, but I'll try.
Meantime, I'll go ahead and put up more trees and stuff that I do have ready. Can't get to the animals until tomorrow anyway.
(edit) You should know, perhaps, that the price of things vary according to the effort it takes to make it. The deer was pretty tough, so the price is pretty high in comparison. As you see, for instance, a set of 6 trees of one type is only a dollar.

But now that you have a buck done, remove the antlers and make smaller and BOOM! You have a doe. Then you have two for the price of one. Well, you know what I mean. (Yes, I know that sounds easier than the real process.)
Then you have two for the price of one.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! You're SOOOOO funny!
If you can get your hands on some 3D software you could easily find free 3D models on the internet, and it wouldnt take any skill in 3d modeling, just render them in a few different views/positions etc.
I could probably do it for you. no charge but a copy of your game would be nice! I could use a project like this to develop my skill, i hope to make a game eventually.
