Can we please keep this friendly this time? Oh, and just a question, what happened to the "iLock" message?
Now, back to the topic at hand:

I wish it were that easy. It was added through a stamp action to an original PoG map. I will continue to play with it, and see if I can reprodue similar results. I'm a little short on time now, so it will have to be later.
EDIT: Well, I converted the BMP to a PNG, and it worked. Only problem is, all of the blues were a LOT darker, so it was really ugly. Also, I found that if I tried to use the BMP with 16 bit color, it was really messed up. Finally, one of my testers reports that the BMP appears as a black rectangle and there is no image. This one really confuses me, as I can see it as clear as day, color-matching the PoG water perfectly (unlike the PNG). So, any ideas on this?

This is the weirdest problem I've ever heard about ? not that I haven't been away for a while. Why don't you let us download a .sit file with all the images so we can look at them ourselves?

I deleted them all... They originated from a PSD, though, so I can recreate them... The BMP works currently, though, so there is no immediate problem.
EDIT: The BMP apparently doesn't work on the PC (how funny). I converted the BMP to pict and, having an idea changed the color to 16 bit. CS says 32 bit is supported, but I've heard bad rumors. The 16 bit pict works fine and I'm glad that it has been resolved (hopefully, the tester hasn't tested the graphic yet...)
I can open PSD files. Please make it available for download so I can look at it; it might be something simple.

Coldstone "supports" 32-bit in that it will load and use 32-bit images; however, it seems to be incapable of displaying anything more than 16-bit onscreen during the game. Your 32-bit images will thus be downsampled to 16-bit when you play, quite possibly with ugly results:
(I promise I'll update the bug list... some time :))
Also, about the change in brightness on your colors when you switch formats, have you looked into the matter of color profiles in Photoshop? It might be that you've got Photoshop's gamma set strangely.

I may be a bit late with this comment, but the dark PNG problem is one I have had to live with :frown: Adjusting the lightness to +30% (this is in photoshop, may be different elsewhere...) seems to make my graphics appear almost perfect. It's a pain in the arse though...

To quote myself from the original thread;
for example photoshop v5(not sure if this has been fixed in later versions), saves png grapics darker , shifting the value to a lower percentile. attempting to save save as save a copy as will not solve the problem. The image will still be drawn dark. The solution (there are more than one but...) you must open the file in Graphic converter, select all, copy, and choose new picture from clipboard (apple+j). Save the file which wil be named 'from clipboard' with the proper extension/file type from the drop down list (checking off the 'set type from extension' box, saves you time and allows you to simply type .png). You now have a perfect translation.

to add to the Graphic Convertor workaround, it's my experience that GC doesn't handle layers well, so be sure to flatten your layers first, your mileage may vary though

Does that speed up performance? Also i thought CGE flattens the map upon compiling ?
I find that not saving in Photoshop or other graphics applications for the game the best for me. I use Snapz Pro 2 and save in pict files.

I was referring to flattening the layers in Photoshop before converting them in Graphic Convertor, the last time I opened a (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/dampeoples/.Pictures/stark.jpg")picture (of our beloved moderator)(/url) with layers with it, it didn't handle the layers properly.
random: I don't care what anyone says i'd ride that motorcycle into the ground...i have no color inhibition as long as its matching.
Debra: I agree screenshots, do tend to work best even when using Graphic converter you're still likely to lose some of the hue value. (url="http://"http://ellrx.web1000.com/rmateam/index.html")See the extremely vivid dress on the woman on the left, which took me 4 days to get just right and still i lost some of the color(/url)
note: users of MeshWork when dragging clippings from the preview window you will lose some of the resolution/bits...in a sense i think it grabs the image as a 16 or 32 bit, again use a screenShot.
dampeoples: I've never had an issue with unflattened images, partially since the png format requires that the image be flattened first.
note2: Pict images can include a alpha channel however it will cause a color permutation, red yellow, white becomes sky blue...etc. it'd be cool except the fact that you forfeit the masking....because white is now blue.

yes, i was referring to using Graphic Converter to make a png as opposed to Photoshop, since Photoshop's default file format is .psd, and the last .psd i loaded in graphic Convertor (with layers) didn't display properly. either way, it was just one of those, 'I did that, lemme try to save you from it too' tips
