All right... I ve posted a topic earlier about beta games and received some iinterested answers... so I decided to upload what i've done so far on my game... I can't say it s a beta or alpha or even gamma... I could say that the game is about 5% in progress... but for those interested (like me) in what the others around here are developing, you'll be able to have a glance at what I m doing... The purpose of this is not beta-test, just showing what I m working on, and have external advices on it so first, here is the download link (OS 9 and OS X): (url="http://"http://kamashin2.free.fr/DarkRising.sit")http://kamashin2.fre.../DarkRising.sit(/url)
A few words before you try it: some of you will recognize the main character as being Reid from Tales of Destiny on playstation... this is temporary only... I just needed a character to try making my own animation, but I m still waiting for the drawings of my main character.... same goes for some musics: the worldmap music is taken from the King Of Fighters 98 roms, Melodie is from the anime Noir and the music in the cave is from Kenshin OAV... this is just temporary... I don t intend to use what's not mine... allright... Concerning the game itself, be aware that it s a very early stage... no NPC yet cause I m waiting for the graphics... no monsters for the same reason plus I have yet to create the battle engine following the tutorial on turn-base mode one last word: on the worldmap, you ll see a small area named Test... this is a teleporter to a test map that has nothing to do with the game itself, it s where I test things, like new animation and os... currently, this test zone is for animated water... I try to create a water animation cause I think it s strange to have static water like the one given with coldstone... allright... no more blabla for now... just try my small beginning of a game... AND PLEASE, TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF IT: my e-mail just in case... : kamashin@free.fr THANK YOU !!! (I think it would be great if other people would do like me... put online what they have done so far, not regarding how much advanced is their game... just put what you ve made... I d like (and might not be the only one) to see what others have done)...

hey kamashin, u mention a turn base engine tutorial? how does that work or wheres it at?
------------------
for the turn base tutorial see: (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/ellrx/info/index.html")http://www.geocities...info/index.html(/url) on the page look for ?DF: TurnBased combat in coldStone, 12k , 4 pages, detailed/advanced this is a pdf I havn t tested it yet so I don t know how efficient it is, but it seems pretty good... tell me if you try it before me
Really cool. I like your world map and the bryce movie. Did you make your world map as 1 picture, or multiple pictures? Did you create the map completely in Bryce or did you just use a graphics program to splice it together before placing it in coldstone?

By the by, if you have any issues with the PDF's content please contact me, i'd love to fine tune it and make it as easy to use/understandable as possible. Thank you. (url="http://"mailto:ellrx@yahoo.com")mailto:ellrx@yahoo.com(/url)ellrx@yahoo.com
Excellent game!!! The graphics are spectacular! However, you need to do a bit of work on layers so that the player appears over/under the right objects. Also, some of tiles need to have their access blocked/unblocked. The music is actually pretty good. I'd ask the owners if you can use it. I suggest you create some rudimentry quest structure so that we have something to do!!! It looks like a great game is in the works!

thanx for the replies to the turn based question.
i liked the game. fun great feal to it. dont like the begining bryce graphics as they seemed very dark for the feel to the game but the character and the buildings seem very fun. i love the characters graphics, very old school and cool.
well, thank you for all your answers as someone asked a bit earlier about the worldmap, I just created all the tile based on the original ones given with Coldstone... the tiles are 32*32 and took me some time to create but I somehow like the result if people are interested in it, I can do just like wim and put those worldmap tiles on the net so that you can use it (this will depend on the number of people asking for it... more than 2 and I ll do it ) so far, I couldn t inject the story in the game though the storyline is almost finished because I m waiting for the graphics for my NPCs, monsters, items and so... so right now, I m building the places... when i have the graphics, I ll add the NPCs, and the monsters, and thus Ill be able to add the quests
ah by the way... about the dark graphics mentionned by DJ :)... in my game, you won t be the hero who will save the princess and the world from the evil guy... you are the evil guy and you will have to be bad, steal all the items of light and hide them in dungeons, find your own dark equipment, kidnap the princess, and try to dominate the world... but of course, there will be lots of annoying hero who will be willing to defeat you... though everything may seem a bit serious right now about the game, being the evil guy should be seen as a joke and the main caracteristic will be the fun about this game... (well I ll try to keep it funny, even if your on the dark side ) Your bad guy won t be very serious... I m working on what happens if you win the game... since it s something you never see in any RPG (when you lose against the evil forces, you only see a continue or score screen... you don t see what happens...) so I have to figure a "bad" end, but something not too serious again

Thankfully it only took me what, a week and a half, to get it figured out? I'm sure if I had been around for a year or more without knowing how that I'd feel really dumb...
ah very cool twist on the bad guy player. good stuff, hope yu can pull it off man.
