Why all the underscores in Coldstone?

Is there any reason to use underscores? They just make things harder to read and type as far as I can see...

Possibly due to the Windows compatibility; as I recall, PC's don't like spaces (or at least, older versions of Windows didn't like them).

This was my thought too at first, but then I did some digging around and I've changed my mind. If spaces in names are a problem, why is there a "Players:Skill Tables" folder? Or "Locations:Location Pics"? Plus all the maps, locations, and items are named with spaces rather than skills... It would seem very odd to me if Coldstone had no problem with spaces in file paths X, Y, and Z, but couldn't handle them in file path A. My best guess at the moment would be that the underscores might simply reflect a habitual naming scheme of Beenox's artist?

I would expect this as well. Either that or like many things, they started with one method, then changed their mind later on and didn't go back to standardize...

no but really you might call it a habitual habit of the developer's but it is a common convention scheme and one devised in order to inspire users to rise to said standard of organizations hence the project file and the browser that will not dip below one level

this structured methodology is aoround and infact ari feldman released a structured naming convention thang pdf a while ago concurrent with CGe's release(check idevgames.com) this method has rules etc, its good but really doesn't matter because as far as i know the files are turned into raw data and merged with the executable and the file paths become localized (similar to a web archive file) and i'm not completely sure (perhaps some one with a decompiler can check) but i believe that the resources recieve numbers just like any oldstyle app, this probably happens concurrently when the game converts/interprets all of your silly pict files into simple PNG's(this i know for a fact and is one one of the last pages of the userManual)..well either way PNG' have more options... ( end ranting ) but either way the engine completes several foolproofings when building your game and i wouldn't be surprised if it assigns a cold number parallel to your affectionate file names as one of those processes
