The Officers Club Bar #5

I think that bit with Joveia was an attempt at some subtle advertising.

Gee, d'ya think so?

In fact, I think that at times you are so troubled, it troubles me. And maybe it even troubles other people. But I can't really be sure. I don't know because I'm not them, and I don't know what they're thinking. So in the end, I'm only confused and more troubled. Ah, life....(/url)

I was in on the first webstory for a while, it was pretty cool. Then I left for the weekend, got back and broke my ankle - it put a damper on things. There was altogether too much going on for me to get back into the story. It was fun while I was doing it though.

Joveia, do like Pharris did, don't set anylimits or define things, just let the people wing it. That's why the other one took off so well and so fast - just made it up as it went. I think that defined rules could allow for a more structured webstory, but if it's loose and there's freedom, a lot of people will join because it's so easy.

Yeah, but posting once or twice a month kinda sucks. You start on a thread of some sort and then go back to look a week later when you have an opportunity to post and it's nowhere where you thought it might be. Not bad, but can be frustrating.

I would post more but work and lack of bandwidth happened. It sucks to be on the low end of the internet food chain again.

Yeah, I feel your pain. I have been on the low end of just about everything computer related since '97. Power Mac 6500 - 275 mhz, 128 mb of ram. 50 meg (megs I think) system bus. 33k modem, faulty internet connection. Bad hard drive. Cannot attach files. Cannot bookmark webpages. Cannot download directly through AOL. Cannot connect to battle.net or join gameranger games without freezing. Have "Mature Teenager" internet setting, so I cannot even find out if I can get cable! However, I can post on the boards and complain to you about it, so thanks for listening.

You obviously don't remember the days of the hehe thread in the Trash Talk forum. Dear god, it was... indescribable. You have no idea.

No, I did peer into the hehe topic at one point. Something about lizards is all I remember. It must have been mighty funny though, because it had like 300 posts when I got here back in November.

Hehe was awesome, but then a certain person (not mentioning any names, you may be able to figure it out for yourself) sorta came in, brought their own characters, killed the other characters, started doing Hehe in a less random, more trying-to-be-funny-and-failing style, and went rampant with it for quite some time. Now it's in its death throes. (Hehe 2 is, at least) I suppose this shows how, when the rules are unspoken rules, somebody will come along who is oblivious to them all around him, and just sorta screw everything up.

"Vampiric chickens are spiffy. Bak bak bak ARRR!"

Personally, I think my 'thankyou citizens' and 'more posts than views' topics were inspiring. However, I was actually around when 'hehe' was there. Unfortunately, I never posted.

Oh, yeah, I realise my mistake. But really, most people would invent totally silly weapons and defenses. If you're neighbour invents a weapon/defense then you have to one better right? Eventually, the whole power structure gets screwed up, and it becomes a bar except with longer posts.

So my solution was to forcify things a bit. But the RPG has reached a new crisis point, and I believe it's solution lies in my original problem when I thought of the RPG. Should I create a new one, I guarantee it will be better simply from a simple alteration in it's pretext...

Dude, the "more posts than views" thread was AWESOME!
I wish that the mods would let us get away with it, but to them it's condoning MASSIVE spamming.

And I do mean massive. With a capital Massive.

"Well you know, when you don't do it right it doesn't take as long."

That's "capital MASSIVE". All right, I've let my bar rot for too long. Let's get back in business! Wipes off the 2 inches of dust that have accumulated on the bar and starts cleaning up the rest of the joint with help from his robots. Okay, then. Pours a drink for himself and warms up his drink dispensors.
