LI notices that he hasn't got around to doing some planned overhauls to his web board fiction ship, and departs from The Bar for a few days to get this thread up to date with his current EV status.
------------------ "Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea." - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Athena stands up and casually volunteers to take care of the bar while Cicion is gone.
------------------ Falling inlove is when he lays in your arms and wakes up in your dreams...
"Uh huh. Yeah, right. You? Bartender?" Athena swings around to look into the eyes of... "Hi." She chirps. "Where have you been?"
Zeta looks up and casually points out one of the bottles of Cherboney. Athena fetches it. "Out and around, getting other work done. Were'd Cicion go? He's pretty temperate when it comes to his bartending." Athena giggles "Oh, well. Someone accidently cut him off out in space." She pours a glass. "He'll be back as soon as someone gets the nerve to pick him up."
Zeta pauses shortly, and glances around the bar. "Where's Sundered Angel?"

Suddenly a sleek kestrel emerges from hyperspace, along with it's two-fighter escort. It docks with the bar and LI steps out. A stray asteroid flys by, and when it is passed the lightnings have disappeared, though smoldering wreckage is visible on the asteroid. LI seats himself at a table, looking very imposing in his Boba Fett helmet, when he notices the lack of lightnings patrolling outside whereupon demonstrating that it is possible not to look imposing in a Boba Fett helmet. He then trudges over to the counter and puts in a request to Athena for a Juri Juice to wash down two million credits.

Out of deep space, a fleet of Dropships come and, after letting the defense fleet know that we werent starting a war, drops a large pod (60 feet tall)
After a few minutes, it lands in front of the bar, and the pod explodes, letting a 'Mech walk out. The 'Mech turns on a device and shrinks to 6 feet tall, then walks into the bar
Tallgeese says hi, but is attacked by the bar's defense systems for bringing a black-hole making weapon into the bar. Tallgeese Decides after about 3 seconds to give it to Athena (the acting Bartender) and orders some uranium-238 (100% pure this time!)
------------------ Warning : Anti - Matter Weapons Detecte........
Hi Tallgeese, long time no see. Ugh. I'm trying to get used to this Diet Dr. Pepper. Ah, screw the diet. Athena, some Real Thing please.
------------------ Formerly-Rampant Human-Coded AI
Forget buying the dr. pepper Darkk Athena, get a keg of dr. pepper for Darkk Pays Athena an insane amount of gold Here Athena, go buy your own bar
Athena puts a few of the clean glasses away and serves Tallgeese his Uranium-238 and Lone Igadzra his Juri Juice. After getting a special drink, that Tallgeese order for Darkk, ready she handed it to Darkk.
The free drinks cease to circulate as a space suited figure walks into the room. Cicion removes his suit, dumping it on the floor. His robots scramble to pick it up. It is clear that he is not in as festive a mood as everyone else seems to be. Thank you kindly for your many valiant attempts to rescue me. My 02 was about to run out when a passing Phylydion fighter picked me up and dropped me off at the airlock. I'd guess I drifted about 3 klicks away from the station before I was picked up. Walks toward the bar. Athena wisely steps down from behind the bar. Once behind the bar, his mood seems to improve considerably and he slowly starts to relax. Any drinks you may have taken while I was out... He looks around the room, seeing several people cringing, and several more ignoring him. Suddenly, he grins. ...are on me. What the hell. Well, the Phylydion Stellar Navy design team has come up with a new craft. It's been designated the Thunderflash-class medium battleship, and will be easy to mass produce. The name comes from its combination of heavy weapons and quick speed and maneuverability. The first ship of the class, the Thunderflash, will be passing by the bar upon her completion in a few days.

"Hey Cicion! How ya doing?" Athena atempts to cheer Cicion up a little bit more. Seeing her efforts working slightly, she orders a Dr. Pepper.

Smiles as he looks at Athena. Oh, I'm doing all right. Getting a little bored, though. The Imperium hasn't had any missions for me lately, and training is getting a little dull. Other than that, I'm just fine. I'm expecting Garrion Retoe to stop by in a day or two. You remember Garrion? The PhylSec agent? He recently got back to doing agent stuff since the Vermillion Battlegroup fleet, under his command, hasn't had any missions lately. Matter of fact, the entire Phylydion military hasn't had much to do lately. We've basically gotten rid of the rebellion, and no other species has challenged our right to our space. I just hope Drion Nerec can keep the other Octicates convinced that the military budget should stay where it is.
He glances at Athena as he gets her the drink. Am I boring you?
Athena looks at cicion and with an inocent look she says, "Oh, no. not at all. You must remember that I went through the eliet Marines Core. I enjoy listening to this stuff." cicion hands Athena her drink. Athena nods to thank Cicion.
Pours himself a drink. Say, that reminds me, the military's made yet another subdivision of the Taeskors. They're to be called Taeskor Legionaries, and they'll be trained to fight as large-scale battle infantry. The Supreme Octicate will have four legions under his direct control at all times. It's rumored that one Taeskor legion will be able to take on three standard Army battlegroups, in other words, five times as many troops. They'll be our first elite infantry aside from Army spec-ops teams. Couple them with our new type of battleship and the general enlargement of the fleet... Raises eyebrows. Interesting that our military is expanding so much in times of peace. Like I've said, we've exterminated the rebels.
Leans down toward Athena and lowers his voice. It's rumored that the Greccha may have returned. In case you're not familiar with Phylydion history, two thousand years ago, about three hundred years after we came through the wormhole to this galaxy, an inefficient political system made the Nation of Phylydia, as we called ourself then, weak and plagued by internal squabbles. A conquering race called the Greccha scouted us out for a few years, then moved in to attack. They viciously swept through our dozen-world space and conquered us. For over four hundred years we were their slaves. But a resistance movement was always fighting. Eventually we started a fifty-year project, a construction project that took place in the hollowed-out core of a dense moon. Every Phylydion contributed, passing a piece of metal, a weapon, a tool, from person to person until we had a vast ship being built. Smiles.
That ship was the Phylydia. In fifty-five years, she was complete. Then, one of the resistance's agents "allowed" information about the moon to fall into the hands of the Greccha occupiers. The information stated that the moon itself was being turned into a weapon. A massive Greccha fleet assembled, flew to the moon, and started pounding its surface. The Phylydia, inside, used the bombarment as cover to blast its way out of the moon. It destroyed the Greccha fleet completely. It proceeded to fly to each of the dozen worlds and wipe out all Greccha presence their. The rebellion then became overt, and within weeks a fleet of ships had been scraped together. The Greccha probably could've mustered enough strength to defeat the Phylydia, but to do so they would've had to leave much of their territory undefended. They left, and within a few years we had drastically expanded our military and territory, due mainly to our new government, an early form of the High Octicon. It was at this point that the rebellion started. Several thousand citizens opposed the new government and simply left.
But anyway, after the Imperium was formed, we launched a retaliatory strike on the Greccha for the atrocities they had commited. We swiftly demolished their fleets and pounded their planets to rubble-in some cases, literally. Eventually we reduced their formerly thirty-planet empire to their home planet and its two moons.
However, we have no idea how many may have escaped during our attack. And their have been reports...Drifts off.
A dashing young Phylydion walks into the room in a black high-collared uniform. Garrion! Good to see you, old friend.
-You too, Traek.
Garrion bows elegantly, and his eyes catch Athena's on the way back up. His smile changes slightly. Cicion notices this and rolls his eyes. -Ah, who's the lady? May I try my hand or have you already charmed her beyond recognition?
Oh, give me a break, Garrion. You know I don't go after Humans. Glances at Athena. No offence.
-Ah, yes, that's right. Too bad for you.
Garrion takes a seat at the bar.
-Cicion, did you ever work for PhylSec?
No.
-You have no idea how much paperwork has to be done for a simple spy mission to be undertaken. Ordinarily I'd already be in suspected Greccha territory by now, but I probably won't be going for another few days. Glances at Athena and grins. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.
Cicion sighs. My apologies for my friend, Athena. He's rather...energetic and risk-taking. Probably what makes him so good an agent. Care for another drink?
HA! I'm back! Registration is finally up. I used to be MikeMTL but the server glitched or something and the password for my account got messed up (and, naturally, the E-mail for that account is missing the e in my name and sends the password to the wrong person.) But here I am. So what have I missed in the last couple days? (okay a month or two, whatever.)
------------------ Do I talk too much? DoItalktoofast? Do I ask too many questions? I wonder...
Well, you've missed some more inane babble about Phylydia stuff...
The thread seems to have slowed down quite a bit, and I doubt it will ever achieve the level of hilariousness of the first few pages again...
Annnnnyyyywayyy...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LoneIgadzra downs the Juri Juice and attempts to think of what would be best to follow it up with. In a few minutes he somehow stays coherent long enough to request a Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster.
Mixes and serves the PGGB. Good to see you fellows again.
Glad to be back. I'll have some cream soda please.
------------------ -yet another example of Mike's excessive ramblings.
WHAT? those drinks while cicion was gone...i mean out...i mean unavailable...whatever...were FREE?!? drat! i could have gotten some pretty good stuff...like grape flavored cream soda...or beef flavored coke... or free pangalactic garglblasters ...well...anyway, could you get me a chocolate milkshake? old-style-down-the-entire-bar thing ya know?
------------------ Captain of the SA.SC.Pern SA.SC.Pern=Shadowcat Alliance, Star Commander, Home port Shadowcat Alliance = merchant clan Star Commander = rank in clan
Abruptly Lord Commander Anic de-cloaks at the bar, glances disdainfully at the lack of variety of available drinks, orders a glass of Ethanol, drinks it in one gulp, and re-cloaks.
A shadow shimmers and tosses a cred chip on the counter..., and the moment is history.
------------------ Oh, so it is another bug hunt then...
Cicion rolls his eyes at the use of personal cloaks, and watches the fellow leave on the cloakfield tracker behind the bar.
(We have any drink you can think of, sir.)
