Thanks once more JTH. I have played through EV:N a few times, and I have finished the Fed, Rebel, and Vell-os storylines. My friend has also finished the Fed and the Polaris. If I am correct, the Wild Geese storyline should count, right? I know I haven't played through the entire Bounty Hunter storyline. I made a new file on ARPIA. I don't know why that is happening, but oh well. The ships are very cool, though.
Oh, dude, you should do the Polaris and the Auroran storylines...they are very good. I played five of the six major storylines (never could get the rebel) and I also, played the wild geese to completion (that is a minor as is the bounty hunter)...I don't know if I ever finished the whole bounty hunter line.
Anyway, my point was, don't bother with the hide/spoiler revealing stuff. Almost everyone on here has had extensive experience with Nova. I don't think you need to worry about spoilers. When you come to the Dev board it is more like we are engrossed in spoilers and the workings of the games.

I am trying to do the Auroran... it is sooo hard at the duel. Even in a Manticore. (There you go, I've just proven my namesake. My Vell-os and Fed files I also have Manticores on.)
The Rebel storyline is achieved when during the Fed mission in where you retrieve the counter-intel team trying to get the Fed councillor. If you choose yes, you'll continue on with the Fed storyline. If you say no, you kill the c-intel team and the councillor tells you to leave Fed space into Rebel space.
The Polaris is somewhat awesome as well, but I haven't worked on my other computer (I use Polycon on an old computer and the newer one has the Original EVN) in a long time. I'll eventually finish that.
On the other hand, I'm still accepting ideas for ships, planets, outfits, and the like. Post your ideas here if you got any, please.

So in the dual do you have trouble, not killing the person? Because I think they had disabling torpedoes or something and I just bought a load of those. I got them down half way and hammered the missile button. I think it took me five or six tries, but that was along time ago (most of my EV: Nova playing happened in the first three months of release).
@guest_swithich_-, on Jan 17 2008, 02:11 AM, said in Escape Velocity: Eon:
What do you do now on Nova then?
@Kom: Okay in a manticore the line should be easy..... the first few duels are for killing and proving your worth.... dude your in a manticore... ion cannons.... then add missiles to actually kill them or a blaster or 3....
Later in the line you only have to disable: get rid of the blasters or don't use the missiles...... (ion cannons do the job.....)
On topic: For weapons make any pirates or shady factions you have (can't remember their name/s and don't wanna reread the story sorry) have disabling versions of any weapons available for public use (this make sense?).... they could weigh a little more and be illegal or w/e but it would make joining the pirates/shady faction so much more fun (think of a T-head lance that only disables but does the same damage..... then x4). Plus I think that would be easy to do (is the a button you click to say disable only)?
I wonder if you can make a weapon the drains your oponents fuel and gives it to you... how useful would that be when you have no fuel on an unhabited planet. Plus it would make pirating fun because the ship can't hyperjump away..... or how about putting that as a planetary defence weapon... the planet drains your fuel so you can't run and has its fighter/allied defence balst you to smithereens....
Good/helpful ideas?

Working on getting restarted on development, first part, get a computer that can run nova again. <_<
I think your beam weapon or energy stealer is a good idea, just need to see if it is possible.

The Abomination mission is where I have the problem. I am using plugs and I still can't defeat them... any help? I would allow help on that on the thread. But if you do, maybe include it with some ideas, please?
The disabling idea is pretty good. Since the only thing pirates do is either destroy or plunder, that would be a great idea. About the opponent draining idea, I'm not so sure. I only know you can use energy to activate beam weapons or the like.
As a planetary defense weapon, that weapon would be good. Guess I'll have to have a reactor then to recover that energy.
The fuel sucker would need to work like this:
Weapon: Planet-type, guided, no damage, count 32767, high speed, high turn, invisible sprite.
AI: has a PD beam
PD beam: Planet-type, high energy use, length of 32767, one damage point, count 1, reload equal to that of the weapon. Black beam.
This way as the weapon is planet-type, regular PD can't hit it, and the beam can't hit regular missiles.

Funny... I created this thread to get some ideas for ships, planets, outfits, and the like. Turns out I got other stuff, but I'm not saying that's bad.
Oh well. I would accept any ideas about the above. And about those, I thought of some ship names. I'd like some opinions on them. Their names are: Igale Bomber Locust Titan (derived from the Revenant ship picture...)
As I said, I'll accept ideas.

I like the ship names. Good stuff, can't really recall the Auroran missions in detail, do you have rail guns by any chance...you know a few 200mm or 400mm?

I'm so pleased that my fuel sucker works/was a great idea!!!! :):):)
Ahem Sorry... If i recall the abomination mission is the one where you again have to prove your worth and only disable..... easy: leave Heraan and after burn in a direction.... the abominations jump in and fire all their missiles at you but all miss because your out of range... fly back in and pick them off one by one....
Carrying on my fuel idea: make a missile version.... that only attacks the fuel and drains it (is this possible?).... if this work or with the beam version go attack polaris ravens.... they can't damage you because they have no fuel (keep turret/missiles on them it to keep it at nought fuel) hopefully bingo.... a disabled raven that you attacked full on (pat on the back?)
Mission wise: make a mission where an alien ship has a huge devastating laser but requires fuel.... the only way to defeat this is to use the newly made beams/missiles drain it's fuel and then move in for the kill....
@ the names bit: Titan has been used again and again in the Anthema chapters.... so I'd ditch it
Hope I've helped....?
You cannot make a target vessel loose fuel by shooting them, nor can you gain energy other than from fuel regen outfits, refueling on planets, and requesting assistance when you're empty. Hence, a fuel drainer is impossible.
how is 3000 supposed to compete with THAT?!

God Damn it! why?????????
Okay I've got a new idea is there anyway you can stop people leaving the system with some sort of jammer? carrying on the theme of being cruel to innocents.... stopping anyone hyperjumping out would be sweet.... plundering ships at will.... or having this as a defence for a planet.... (you can't leave and the allies can attack you....)
good idea?

what??
@undead_shadow, on Jan 18 2008, 03:02 PM, said in Escape Velocity: Eon:
Also impossible. Though you can prevent reinforcement fleets from entering into a system with an outfit.
That means I can't make a laser that can shake the screen... crap.
Anyways, I'll give bonus points to anyone who can figure out why I thought of the ship name Locust.
I was wondering, JTH, is it possible to make a weapon use energy as well as shield and armor strength?
In a very tricky fashion. Have the shot drain fuel like normal and fire a 1 frame shot that explodes and deals energy damage, but no mass, submunitions into a 1 frame shot that deals shield piercing mass damage with the same stats, and then submunitions into the actual shot.
don't shield-ignoring weapons kill shields in one blow?
If they did than the Thunderforge would undeniably be the best ship in the trilogy because of the Triphammers.

Krypt pods take three shots or so don't they?
I'm pretty sure shield-ignoring weapons don't drop shields to zero...although I'd have to go back and test to make sure. From messing around, though, I'm reasonably sure that if you attacked a ship with a shield-ignoring weapon, and then switched to a regular weapon, the regular weapon would have to eat through the shields before it could do damage to the hull.
