My Nova starts up, loads and shows the first screen. However between 5 and 30 seconds later either while I am on the main screen or once I have hit enter ship the whole screen goes black and I have to restart my computer. I just tried a debuglog but I cant get anything out of it not sure if you can. I am using mac os 9 If not thanks anyway.

Try removing all those plugs and seeing if the game loads without them. If that works, add them in one or two at a time and see which one crashes the game. I suspect that the problem is that one of the plugs has an improperly-made shän, or another bad graphic.
(EDIT)After looking at that plug-in list again, what is "multi-cursor" supposed to do? It sounds slightly more suspicious than the rest of the plug-ins, so you may want to try just removing it first.

Took all plugs out, still crashed.
Multi-cursor just makes the crosshair in-game multicolored instead of red.
I am going to try downloading the latest version now so I will see if that helps.
EDIT: Is the latest version of Nova only for Mac os X?

I'd say, try fixing all those errors. Redownload EVN for the music file, remove all the plugs, and repost the debuglog. I think that those errors are probably due to the

conflicting with each other - it certainly looks like a bunch of areas are getting changed repeatedly and improperly.
(edit) Again, post the debuglog after removing all plugs, so we can see what is really going on. In stock Nova, none of those errors should be occuring.(/edit)

(edit3) Wow, I love that edit button... anyway, just got to say, wow to all those mods. I mean, putting 5 turrets on a Mod Starbridge? Geez. I normally stock my ships up with guns (primaries) instead of missiles and the lot, but still, on a ship that size, isn't 5 a bit much?(/edit3)

Ok here is the debuglog for the nova with out plug-ins they are newer nova files than the last one these are for version 1.0.9. It still crashed after this. I then removed all of these data files and just put in absolute minimum and it now runs fine. There is just nothing to do in the universe now.

sigh sorry to tell you but you have downloaded an outdated version of Nova! I believe, for the Mac that is, that the latest version of Nova is 1.0.10.

All versions of Nova run on both OS 9 and X. Where did you manage to find 1.0.9?? Regardless, upgrading to 1.0.10 probably won't fix the problem but it's a good idea anyway. Your second log shows it got further before crashing - if it got that far it may be the firewall issue. Was the crash identical in both cases?
There was a slight difference between the two versions, the Nova 1.0.9 didnt fade to black when it froze. Well when I get home I will download 1.0.10. I didn't do that yeterday because in the descripion on the plug-ins page it only mentions Mac os X.
Try disabling the firewall if you have one. Every time you start up Nova it checks for updates and a firewall might interfere with that.
Or just try hitting "enter" when it goes black. Worked for me when I had the glitch, can't remember how it came to disappear.
Wipe the prefs?
First of all i suggest not to have so many plugins at one time{beacuase it messes around with numbers that sometimes shouldn't be messed with} After removing the plugins if it still crashes save any pilot files that arn't so messed up up alot by plugins. reinstall nova and register again{hopfully you still have the code to register} then put your pilot files back and it should be fixed. it worked on my windows so it should work for mac.
hope it fixes your problem if the other ideas did not work.
I'v had this problem a lot. you have entered some number wrong. it wants a number in a certan range (for exampel 0-255), and you entered one too high (1255), wich crashes the game. also, your log indicates that stuff lacks descriptions. use the desc resources.
