Now cooler sounding!

<quote= ME>:Notably I plan on making a TC, once I get the story down cold, and I'm sure I can beat the Alien Cruiser (EVC) without hacking the datafiles, and once I can get a graphics guy on my side. The idea so far is that the Aliens return while the Confeds are trying to beat up the Rebels, and nearly (continued in next post)

This kid's life from just before that point to the Shattering(another idea) will hopefully end up a preamble of some sort. The Shattering is what happens when a bunch of scientists on Ruby try to "break out" of the universe they're in, and end up shooting to blazes the universe they're in and end up breaking it into several mini-verses, which is the basic point of my TC. I got the idea of "the Shattering" from looking up "gravastars" on Answers.com, and the kid with the hammer by clicking on a link for "list of fictional weapons" and then clicking on "hammerspace"(all at Answers.com{NO I AM NOT AN AD GUY:}).

Anybody out there?

I saw someone standing behind the corner...

/me resists the urge to get Qaanol's form and check all the boxes.

"Danger, Will Robinson!"

Um..

Is this serious?

My eye is twitching. Is this a joke?

I am inaugurating my return to the boards with a three-letter acronym...

wtf?

When you see a description made from not of this planet, I guess he done more than smash the EV universe, he smashed the reality of this thread too, hehe.

What was the leading cause of death due to my post, conjunctivitis(pink-eye) or overdose of mirth(death by laughing)? :)(No hard feelings)

Anyway, the idea of making a TC I am serious about, but I want to feel myself a competent player, and I won't feel like that until I can Beat the Alien Cruiser without cheating, and get the ideas for my TC all organized into something coherent. Anyway, a couple months ago this would not be so realistic (I had ideas that probably wouldn't work with the engine). So, two questions.

How do you beat the Alien Cruiser without cheating?
AND
Is it possible to have more than 16 types of roids?

Get a fast ship and load it up with primary weapons. A tractor beam also helps. Stay behind it so it can't get you with it's beam and just pound it with your primary weapons.

No.

Escorts can help throw it off, too.

Edited because my grammar and spelling had been thrown way off. 🙂

It's quite easy to defeat the cruiser, if you know the proper way to go about.
First, I would assume you have the cloaking device. Get a ship with lotsof fuel and jump into the system where the cruiser is, and cloak immediatly. Usually, A rebel cruiser will be present when you jump in. Since the aliens are programmed to attack only you, just sit back, and watch the good ol' rebels do all the work! 🙂

This guy can't be serious.

Maybe I ought to add becoming competent at EVO to my goals before the TC. Anyway, I'm going to put a few more ideas up here, but one at a time (so I can see that's it's this they're criticizing and not that). The first to be put up is the idea of some kind of warriors hunting forklifts and lawnmowers(you heard me right). The idea is that instead of it being some silly weapon, it would be an adversary for gaming enjoyment. Please state your opinion below. Also I have another question or two:

1. Is it possible to make a player "force-land" on a spob?

2. Is it possible to put up a sort of "fence" in a system to prevent a player from going from one side to the other(including the wraparound)?

Oh, and thanks for helpful replies about the Cruiser.

1. No, though I wish there was
2. Not really. In theory you could make giant spobs that surround the system with negative gravity. I'm not sure how well that would work though or if negative gravity is even possible.

the negative gravity idea probably wouldnt work well, because if it's too low, a ship can get through, but any higher and ships start being shot as far away from the planet as possible, seriously restricting your movement (happened to me once, happened when an idea i was testing glitched, and the planet's gravity ended up -36000(because of the glitch), where when my escorts jumped in they got shot backwards at extremely fast speeds. )

What if you tried combining relatively low antigrav with deadliness? Incidentally, did you ever find out what the glitch was?

for some reason it automatically set the gravity to -36000 when i exited the resource. it seems to sometimes do that with spobs often, commonly with the 'spob is deadly' option

Well the highest you can set it is 32767. Higher than that and it wraps around to negative.

i didnt exactly remember the number, i just remembered it was somewhere around -36000, but it was probably acctually -32767
