Never mind the old plug size limit, AAC -- zipping or stuffing will probably bring file size down a fair bit, and that station (or planet-type ship, I'll guess) has got to be the most elaborately strange object I've ever seen inserted into the game. Plug! Plug! Plug!

Voices = funny! (Even though I did have to consult with someone considerably younger than me to learn what "Invader Zim" was. I gotta watch more cartoons. What a sad thing to say. Yeah, well -- inanity is the spice of life. )

Keep those experimental brews bubbling, folks. Don't forget your safety goggles....

Ah. A good time to be had by all. It's been a while since I've been involved in coding plugs, but I do have one old unreleased plug that qualifies. In fact, this one's probably better to install in the plug-ins' folder of a friend's copy of Nova (hopefully someone with a sense of humor).

It's called Nova Joke, and after playing for a bit, you'll probably figure out what it does.

I also call a record for smallest file size - it's 4KB compressed.

M_B_S: I opened your plugs in NovaTools/ResEdit, covered my eyes with my hand, then peeked through my fingers.... I got most impressive/baffling glimpses of your work! It looks supremely wacky! Truly, a pungent plug in the best sense (scents?) of the word.

B-JB: Big, big ditto, with an extra ladle of hot caramel for resourcefulness. And yes, 6 resources of a kind are allowable, as I mentioned a while ago. I've now revised the rules at the beginning of the thread to reflect this.

G_S: When I opened your plug in NovaTools/ResEdit (edit: i removed a refrerence to DA's PC-to-Mac plug convertor here -- I didn't need that program to use your plug), it reports that "This file needed minor repairs and is now OK." I'm wondering if something got deleted or corrupted in your plug, but I don't know what to ask you in order to check. I'm hoping this won't give to much away: is STR# supposed to include no strings? Let me know if I should email you more detailed info to help you figure out if there's something wrong here.

Orca: So the tongue shuttle will be showing up in this thread, then? Good! Just a thought: would it be funnier as a Tongue Viper? I'm not sure, but the razz might show when "Be Happy" Class Fed Vipers launch from their carriers. You could track down and change the appropriate desc resources....

Eh. 'Sallright -- but thanks for checking! If you aren't using any graphics and you are only talking 13 or 14 descs, I'm not going to complain. AAC went over the snd resource limit (6), but I didn't say anything because his plug was very narrowly defined in any case.

Of couse.... If you could find a way to stay within the official desc limits, I wouldn't complain if you added some PICTs to your missions, as is done for the misn-acceptance descs for the repeating bounty-hunting misns in Nova. Nova uses 200 X 200 pixel images; you could have up to 6 of 'em. Assign the PICTs ID numbers that aren't otherwise used in the game (e.g. something between 2320 and 3998), and enter the number in the provided blank in the desc resource template. I haven't played with this feature too much myself, but it has obvious comic potential.

Luke: Awww. Well, if nothing else, I'd say this thread shows that there's likely to be an audience waiting for your plug when it does come out.

And just to make your resolve to back out a little harder to stick to, here's something I was already thinking about: unIess there is great hue and cry, I will be accepting late entries. If you enter after the voting starts you'll be able to start collecting votes at that time, though you'll be at a disadvantage because early voters won't be choosing your plug.

Oh, and voting will be in a thread over on the EV Nova board, to maximize readership. (Had I said that already?)

I think we're at 7 entries now -- not bad....

Making a plug-in out of all my childhood experiances, I realized, would take too much time and effort for this contest. Therefore, I bring you: A modification to the raven, which is supposed to hippie-fy it! (complete with multiple colors and a peace symbol!)

I tried making a mission string out of it, but that didn't turn out too well (i.e. it had a billion spelling errors, and was lame), so I just simplified it. It's a pretty lame photoshop edit, and the Raven changes colors as you turn... but, its hippie for sure.

There is no link, because I can't host it (I don't think that PhotoBucket will take sit.zips). That's up to Dr. Trowel.

I wasn't able to play the Zim voices one though, because my Mac's "classic" mode didn't like the .sea file...

The 12th is upon us -- last call for on-time plugs! It looks like voting will start tomorrow, barring baklava baksheesh....

Amazingly, I do believe that all entries so far are inter-operable. Authors: Am I right?

Once I got my combat rating up to "good," I was able to simultaneously ferry both presidential candidates from somewhere around Formalhaut. The Republicans and Democrats didn't attack each other as I'd hoped ( :frown: ), but they did do a surprisingly large amount of accidental damage to each other and to themselves. Crazy politicians -- always shooting their mouths (and guns) off without thinking of the consequences!

I'm wondering if I should re-package the entries for the voting -- put all those under the 1 MB limit into Mac plug format, .bin each one to make conversion for PC easy, and then put the lot into a single .zip. Does anyone think that sounds worthwhile?

It's called Kamikaze. The constant bombardment with soap operas made these humans desperate, turning them into kamikaze fighters.
The idea was going through my mind some time ago, but I never got around to create it. Thank you, Battle Doctor, for giving me a reason to make it.
I used some nice sounds from Barrack and created the sprites myself, using Poser4 and C4D.
I think it's funny. And I hate soap operas. They make me all confused
It's 336 KB in size, and I think it also fits all other conditions.
The plug can be added to the standard Nova game, as it occupies resources that are not used in the game. Compatibilities with other plugs is not granted, however. I hope this is not required because atm I neither have time to download every other plug nor change mine again, as I am in a hurry right now. Sorry.
