Is there a way in Nova to increace the ammount of space avalible to text displays? I keep having landing, bar and outf descs chopped off at the ends and it annoys me. Is this in the intf resource somewhere, or is there actually a max limit to how long a desc can be (I have one at 7k right now but it's for a misn)?
Also, what resources are required by Nova at start-up? I've copied about everything that I can think of into my TC 'Nova Files' and I still keep crashing at startup. Usually involves the creation of sprite 500 from a cicn, but that cicn is in my version of 'Nova Files' so I can't track that one down yet...

If you're on a mac open up res-edit and copy the corresponding DITL resource from the EV Nova app into your plug. Then you can resize all the different parts of that window. You can resize the whole window using the DLOG resource of the same ID. However, if I remember right there was a limit to the length of descs in EVO - not sure about EVN though.

I take it you're on Windows?
One of the bugs in the current release of NOVA on Windows is that the descriptions get cropped off. This will be fixed in the 1.0.8 release

Actually I'm a C=64 user, but Nova won't run on mine so I am using a mac. :frown:
I've been all about macs since '92. I can't even boot a windows box.

If you download Mission Computer, It says in the desc box the maximum characters for a landing description, If that's any help.
Also, someone on here made a group of files called 'absolute minimum' which contained everthing needed to start up Nova. It's quite useful. I think it might be on the addons page under utilities, or you could just have a search of this board.

Absolute Minimum was .zip ped, so the resource fork was corrupted, at least it was here.
Unless we're talking about two different things, Absolute Minimum on the add-ons page is in .rez format. It doesn't have a resource fork.

Oooh. I can't remember what I did, but I definately have it on my mac. There may have been a mac version posted in the thread, or I might have un-zipped it on my PC then put it on my mac. It was a while ago, so Im sorry, I can't remember it very well. But I definately have a version of absolute minimum on my mac, and it works, it's what my current TC is being built off.
While this thread is here, I ought to mention that on a Mac, there is one planet description where the text is too long for the window (pretty sure it's Sirius II). There may be more, but I haven't noticed them yet.
Is there a way to change the font to one that is smaller (on a Mac)? Or maybe "condense" the text style to bring it all up into the box?

Sirius II it is. Also, there is a typo in the description of Resolution (spöb ID 432), it says "Herran" instead of "Heraan."

I know about resource editing, etc. But I was wondering if I had to modify a lot of other things besides that to get a larger room for text, such as the pictures, etc.
OK, shoot me then: what does .rez do? ResEdit says that it has no resource fork and putting it in Nova Files after changing the type/creator codes does not help anything. MissionComputer also will not open it.
If anyone is wondering, getting David Aurthurs' Plugin Converter has fixed this. Thank you.
Sorry, I knew that the .rez thing, somewhere in my brain, was the dos format for nova files, I am NOT used to having to deal with windows things. ------------------ Drinking causes hangovers. I will uphold Ma'at. Shemsu Hor.

Hell, I'm using a 9 year old 8500/200 running Jaguar to make my TC on anyway. I wouldn't know what to do with a PC if it was free (besides scalp the HD and sell the rest on eBay). Not being anti-pc, just an old-school mac user here.

You may have to rearrange a few things or make the whole window bigger to make room for more text but other than that all you really need to do is make the text area bigger.

**They can all be manipulated- however, be careful that you do it right, otherwise you'll get unpleasant results... In EVO it was relatively easy, but in EVN there is so much more going on it's really difficult... plus, they give you so much more room for text it isn't terrible necessary.
