why is opf the default? Nova uses mp3.

have a feeling that he meant 'and use it instead of the default'. Then again, I think you did too.

Ah yes, I was being unclear. I'm not a sound person, but I've never heard of .opf, and was wondering what it's default for. I then made the statement that Nova uses .mp3 as its default sound format for the opening music. Reading it now sounds like I'm asking why .opf is Nova's default, and then a sort of non sequitor about .mp3. My bad.

What you have to do is take a standard mp3 file, change its file creator to the Nova standard (ResEdit can do that), and rename it "Nova Music". Now you can drop it in the plugins folder, and it'll supercede the standard "Nova Music" file.

------------------

The creator code doesn't matter. It should read any file so long as it recognises the type code. (You can change a plugin's creator code to RSED and have it open in ResEdit when you double-click but still load in EV)

Yeah, you can use pretty much any mp3. iTunes encoded ones work just fine.

I have "Cosmic Castaway" by Electrasy as my intro music 🙂

The answer to what format of music Nova likes is not just mp3. I believe that you can use any format that QuickTime can play, but don't quote me on this.

i sincerely apologize for the "opf". i actually meant that to be of so it would read "instead of the default". this was a mistake on my part as i was rushed by my parents telling me to get off the computer already!

apologies again,

Hah! I quoted you!

Anyway, you are correct, all Nova does is pass it off to Quick Time to play. So in theory you could use OggVorbis if you got everyone to install the OggVorbis quicktime extension 😛

Yeah, let's just stick it in the readme so that nobody will see it...

I thought EV: Nova used mp2, actually... Anyways, yeah, so long as the file is named "Nova Music" (or perhaps 'Nova Music. ext ' on windows?), it will load, assuming Quicktime can read it. AIFF, WAV, SND, MP3, AAC... The list goes on.
