I am making a new ship, and I need some website names that have textures and tutorials. I have pixels 3D 5 and strata 3D 3.0.2 ( I can't use strata though because it won't let me register. :frown: ) Also does anyone know what happened to Dreamwave Studios? Thanks

If you are on a mac, you can download a preferences file from Ewan's Lair which will make it registered... they closed down the rego website, which sucks. If you can't do that (because you're on a PC) then download the latest version of Strata and use that... you can still rego the later versions, can't you?
Hmm... anyone have linkage to Ewans Lair? Jules?
Someone'll know.

I don't think its worth while looking at. Last time I checked (two days ago) the resorce pages of Ewan's Lair were blank white. You will have to talk to Him about it.

I really doubt you checked about 2 days ago since northernswamp has been down for about a month and Jager says it wont be up again until he's finished moving house The (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/ewan/")evula.org site(/url) has a build up but I've stopped updating it for the moment. I have my own domain and webspace now and when I've finished building the main site I will be hosting el3 there.
I have a real life guys and a 50 hour a week job, and thats only my main job... A few of my work mates and I are starting up a business of our own setting up networks for people and a bit of graphical design. Im afraid that I cant devote every minute of my days to putting this stuff online.
I have uploaded the pref files to (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/ewan/strata/")this location(/url) though so you can get it running. When the file has been uncompressed, open up the "prefs" folder and put the whole "Strata Preferences" folder into your OS 9 Preferences folder. When you run Strata it will say the program is registered to me, but you will be able to get it running

Now I'm confused. The site I was at had el3 at the top. It was mostly white and it had a wierd, but cool, silvery picture behind the el3. Isn't that your's? I even used the feedback thing to send a message that mentioned the lack of anything usefull, did you ever get that?
One last thing, could by any chance put Strata itself up with the prefrence files? I never got it and it is exactly what I need.

Yeah, they're both mine Once NS went down, I decided that I would move back to evula.org hence the site you visited. Unfortunately I never had time to finish it and soon after I got my new domain so I decided there was no point in finishing it until I got my main site finished. el3 will be a subsiduary of my new site (macfire.net) once finished. All I really have to do to finish my site is remove my java scripts to an individual file (rather than having large javascripts defined in each html file. Once I figure out how to do that then it will be uploaded and working and I will get back to making el3 again...
I would upload strata for you but my evula.org account only allows 20Mb and I cant fit it on there Do you have AIM? I could try and send it to you via that...
I really need to get some kind of simple texture depot back online... I have a huge stash of textures sitting idle on my HD. I've received various requests that they be made available again.
The thought of re-viving Dreamwave on a much smaller scale has crossed my mind several times. I simply don't wish to make any promises before I'm certain I can devote the time it requires.

(url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/downloads/textures.sit")Texture Bundle(/url) 274 textures and decals - 29.5 megs
This is my personal texture file that I decided to upload for your enjoyment. Some of them are old and pathetic while others are very useful (many of these were available at the Dreamwave texture depot). The names are all very disorganized, but I'm certain you can find something useful. The majority of them are in .pct format.
Simply give credit where credit is due should you put them to use. Enjoy.

Thanks everybody for the help.
Jules it won't download the file... it just shows a whole lot of text... could you or someone email me the file at landpcagle@cafes.net ? thanks again
oh and buy the way I do have a Mac (oh yeah!)

Hey, there's a Pepsi machine in the textures pack! Was Blades planning a "graphical upgrade" for the "Strange Asteroid" plug?
Edit: silver_wind, try doing ctrl-click on the file on the web page, then choosing "download file" from the pop-up menu. That may give you a file you can open with Stuffit Expander. If not, you may need a more recent version of Stuffit -- Jules is supplying a "sitx" file, which is a newish variant of the compression format. (The Stuffit Expander 5.5 on the Mac I'm on at the moment won't open the file, either.)

Unfortunently I don't, would email work?

Jules: Send the file to me via AIM (my sn is azn playa94087) and I'll try uploading it to my server and give it a semi-permanent home. My privacy preferences are set to automatically accept any Send Files from people on my buddy list. I've just added your sn "ecc160" to my buddy list so you should be able to send it to me anyways if I'm not actually there. Thanks.
thanks Dr. Trowel, that was my problem.
Do you guys find strata 3.0.2 hard to use? I tried making a few ships but they all looked bad. Also is lightwave easy to use... just curious. I like pixels 3d 5... it's pretty easy to use and has a good interface.
Jules: do you use strata to make your ships... the one on your site looks awsome.
Lightwave is much harder to learn (for most people) than a program like Strata. Download the demo from (url="http://"http://www.newtek.com")www.newtek.com(/url) if you want to try it out. I didn't find Strata that hard to learn. But I had already done some 3D. The first program is always the hardest to learn. You just have to stick with it.

You might say that, but I think that the second is the hardest. Often it has a different aproach to modeling, after using strata vision , not strata 3D, I couldn't use mechinisto, even though its a pretty cool program. I had gotten too used to Strata Vision's method of modeling.

Unfortunately not... I can only send like 2Mb max via my Uni account. However, this is inconsequential
I just upgraded my webhosting to 250Mb and all I need to do is wait till it gets added to my domain name (should be sometime tomorrow). Then I will upload Strata to the new el3 downloads folder on the server. After that, the process should be easy...

As above, no need - but thanks anyway!
