This is a topic I first brought up here: (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum8/HTML/005021.html#")EVN: Override port for Win question(/url) , and have subsequently decided it was better suited for this forum rather than the Override board. Basically, both the EVC and EVO ports for the Nova engine seem to have incorrect values in the CompGovt field of the misn resource. (Much more so in Override than EVC). The mistake is that the values reference the index numbers of the govt's, rather than the RID's that Nova wants. (I understand that this was correct for the earlier versions of the engine). It's not clear to me whether this is a problem with the Port Authority tool or simply an oversight by the individuals who did the ports.
I wouldn't exactly call this an 'undocumented' difference between the engines, but it was slippery enough of problem to get released in the official ports. Hopefully this will be corrected in a future release(?). This problem does (IMO) severely effect the scenario if proper legal rewards (or punishments) are not being applied.
In the other thread, Dr. Trowel brought up that different editors displayed different values in this field when opening the data files. As I'm a pc user, I can't check these differences myself. Hopefully someone will find this info to be of some use.

Yep. Though, EVC only had 7 missions out of range, while Override only had 10 in range.
Wow. The silence from the community on this issue is deafening. No one even cares to tell us if we're wrong about the bug. If we are right, a lot of veterans of the Crescent and Voinian Wars are losing out on due recognition for their bravery and service.
I'd email soviet mikee if I had his address, but it doesn't seem to be listed.
Does anyone know if EVONE is likewise generating or hiding incorrect CompGovt numbers? You may have to check against the plain-vanilla ResEdit templates to be sure -- check the Override board thread.

Ha! Yeah, I suppose there have already been sooo many bug complaints with the ports, one more isn't gonna get any attention.
Well, If I can figure out how to fix this, I will put it in NOverride, my upcoming graphic replacement and general upgrade plug-in for the NOVA port of OVerride. If I cant figure out how to do this then I may see about getting someone else to do it for me and giving them full credit in the relative documentation

I finally made the obvious connection between this bug and the recurring complaints (e.g. (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum26/HTML/016399.html")here(/url)) about mission-less "intermissions" in the strings of the EVO port. I hadn't been bothered by these "breaks" in my own playing of the port, and had thought they were the same as they had been in the original game -- but now I suspect that the lack of government rewards is slowing down other peoples' progress more than I realized.
Exactly. It's nearly impossible to accomplish all 3 of the main objectives. Maybe not impossible, but you'd have to kill a ridiculous amount of renegades to get anywhere.
Edit: Does anyone know if there is a designated topic/forum/arena to bring up problems with the EV/EVO ports? There are a few other things that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere.
