hi everyone, i used to have a mac 5 years ago and i loved playing EV and creating new ships. now i have a windows machine, and i just got EV for windows. i was wondering if there is any way to make new ships on my windows machine. i dont even care about the graphics, i can just use the sprites from one of the ships already in the game, but i want to give the ship my own specs. does anyone know how i can do this? thanks in advance!

(Leaving Mac bias out of this post)
There is no way to create or edit a plug as of yet on a PC, because of the fact that all of the Escape Velocity games rely on a resource fork, and there are no PC editors to work that. Darn, huh?
I suspect, that eventually, someone will create a PC editor. Until then, you'll just have to wait.
(Or, if you're nice to someone coughme I'll do some stuff for you. Email me requests.)

but if i were to make a ship using ResEdit on a mac, i can use the plugin on windows, after using that converter that is included, correct?
That is what they tell us.
Apparently, the file needs to be encoded as a MacBinary in order for it to work with the convertor, but otherwise, it will work.

Get Ballisk II from somewhere and Res-Edit from (url="http://"http://www.resexcellence.com/")Resexcellence(/url) and you can edit using res-edit in emulation. You may also want to get NOVA tools from somewhere - I've heard they are useful.

No - you'll have to use a Mac emulator.

Is there any information available about the .rez file format used by the Windows version, or, if not, could that information be released?
Not at this time, but DA has been working on a windows version of MC, but that will not be for a while. For ships specifically, I am working on something along those lines, but I am still playing with .bin formatting.
Fiddlesticks. I guess it's just me, the Nova Bible and a hex editor for now.
Edit: Gah! I hate when people switch between byte orders. At least it seems I figured out the basics of the format.
