Would anybody care if I updated my Shipbuilder's Guide to Infini-D to be compatible with ID4.5?

Ah, OK good... That was what I was planning on doing. Thanks for clearing that up.. ::feels like an ass::
Don't feel like an ass, it really was unintelligible.
On a somewhat tangential note, I find it really painful that the most popular 3D program around here hasn't been updated since 1999 or so. Has anybody moved on to Eovia's Carrera? If so, what do you think of it? They're offering upgrading pricing for Ray Dream users, and I'm thinking about taking them up on it.

You can't, Infini-D is no longer available, sorry. The company who bought it got bought by another company, which went out of business. Or something, I've lost track.
You could try eBay.

I've tried Carrera, but it might as well be a totally different program.. the controls are completely different so I'd have to learn to use it all over again. Since I already knew how to use Infini-D 3.1 I just upgraded to 4.5 and figured I might as well wait to learn yet another graphics program until i start with Maya and suchlike in college, with actual manuals and instructors
BTW, if anybody's interested in the ID3.1 version of the Guide, I uploaded it to my site (finally) at (url="http://"http://www.fascinate.us/specials/specials.html")Fascinate.us(/url)
I for one would be very interested in seeing one... I recently got me a cop f ID 4.5 and cant figure out how to use the bloody thing!

Alright, spiffy. I've begun working on changing the old guide to be used with ID4.5. I'll try to get it finished within the week.
Ewan: good luck, ID 4.5 can be very easy to use sometimes, and other times a real pain. Dont even go close to complex splineforms for at least 3 months!
Divals: is it a guide to how-to-make-sprites or how to model the whole dam thing?

how to make sprites, though it does give a few tips on modelling and texturizing.
in that case, check my tutorial, in dreamwave studios: (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/sprite_tutorial.html")http://dreamwave.evu...e_tutorial.html(/url)
This is basically the same thing as mine but less detailed and condensed into one page. (edit) except for that spin 2.0 thing.. i'll have to check that out. looks like a real time saver (/edit) (edit again)And BTW - i wouldn't trust automatically made masks if i was you.. if an area of a ship is in shadow the program sometimes thinks it's part of the background.(/edit)
the spin 2.0 saves a lot of time
Im checking out how to solve the problems with shadows, by now, all i do is put some really weak light, so it doesnt blend into the background

you might want to check out the (url="http://"http://www.fascinate.us/specials/specials.html")Shipbuilder's Guide to Infini-D 3.1(/url) for my solution to that.
ye gods, I'm turning into EVula.
