EVONE PB 2.0.1: PICT viewer, bug fixes

The first maintenence update to EVONE Public Beta 2 has been released. The update includes a brand new PICT viewer with full copy/paste support and fixes all known bugs. As shown by this update, please report any problems or bugs you encounter in the program. They will be fixed as soon as possible.

The update requires the full download of EVONE Public Beta 2. Upgrade instructions are included in the 2.0.1 archive. Both the update and full release are available here:

That is next on the list! It is currently in the planning stage - me looking at the capabilities of the SpriteWorld engine and deciding what it should be able to do. This is also the time when I figure out how in the world I am going to fit the whole editor into a single window. As seen by the syst and galaxy editors, this is sometimes a difficult feat. (The single-window limitation is self-imposed, it by no means reflects EVONE capabilities.) All feature suggestions are welcome!

Quick note: the editor will also be able to edit standard 'RLE ' resources, in case someone is making a SpriteWorld game. The three formats are identical, Ambrosia just chose to call them different things based on bit depth.

Does the PB2 download include this update? I don't feel like downloading two things tonight 😛

The full download of EVONE PB 2.0.1 is now available at the aforementioned link.

Also, I'd again like to welcome any and all feature requests for the RLEBuilder plugin. The currently planned features are as follows (everything can and will change, this is not definitive):

Editor:
- Ability to edit each frame and import graphics and masks for each frame separately.
- Batch-import capability from sequencially numbered files
- Batch-import capability from pict "matrices" (the EV/EVO format for sprites)
- Ability to set the depth of the sprite (EVONE will be able to dither-down a 16 or 32 bit version)
- Ability to create masks given the color to make transparent

Preview:
- Custom frame rate
- Custom background color
- Ability to step through one frame at a time

What kind of tools will there be for the REL8/RELD editing?

I keep on getting a File "FSpOpenDF() Error" message. Then it quits. I am using the latest version and Mac OS X (10.2.6) . It didn't do it in the earlier version (PB1).

Interesting, you'll have to explain more: when does this occur? What do you do? You may want to post at (url="http://"http://forums.ariossoftware.com")http://forums.ariossoftware.com(/url) to get better support.

As for rle8/D editing, I do believe that is what I explained above. Technically, they are all nothing more than RLE sprites, with different names, so when I say RLE, I am talking about 'RLE ', 'rlë8', and 'rlëD'.

Sorry. Didn't read carefully.

The problem happens whenever I open a plug up. If I drag it onto the icon when its not open it alerts imediatly after it loads the plug. If I open it first, it will give me a few seconds. I don't think its the plug becuase I tried 2. Also, shouldn't there be a field in the spin editor to say whether the graphics are picts or rel8/relD?

Ok, this will be looked into. In the meantime, try something for me: Use EVONE to create a new plugin and then save and open it again. Will EVONE open its own plugins for you? Also, what system are you running?

Yeah, the spin editor really should tell what form the graphics are in, but it is the most worthless editor EVONE has (it is no better than a template). When I finish the RLEBuilder, I will re-do it with a preview and everything.

It only happens to the files not made by it.
