    RE: Creating .rez Files

I'm trying to create plugins for a game called No One Lives Forever. NOLF's plugs for the the Mac and Windows version are in the .rez format. I tried using RezConverter to convert some text files into .rez however that didn't work (when the files came out they had lost all their data). The only other way I know of to create .REZs is to use the Rez console that comes with Apple's XTools. I've looked into it, however I was unable to figure it out. If anyone either knows how to use the Rez MPW console or knows of an app that can turn any file into a .rez I would greatly appreciate your telling me. Thanks.

No matter which .rez format you are referring to, the only source files it works with are Mac resource files. RezConv can turn any resource file into a Contraband .rez file. As for the Apple Rez format, it is somewhat deprecated, so you would have to look at the MPW or Metrowerks CodeWarrior docs. I can't think of a solution off the top of my head.

    RE: singing the praises of {}

I love the idea... but I fear the engine changes would be so extensive that it would warrant a release as EV 4, which we know probably won't happen. We can hope though!

RE: Tool for converting plug-ins to windows, now available

I guess it's better late than never... I just think the timing is a little odd, since the major plugin editors have had this functionality for close to a year now.

From what I can make out, at least, EVONE's implementation is correct.

    RE: spaceport problem

Solution: It turns out that the copy of the SpacePort editor/plugin distributed with pb2.6.1 is faulty. Sorry about that. Please download the new version from:
    (url="http://"http://www.ariossoftware.com/files/evone/SpacePort261.sit")http://www.ariossoft...pacePort261.sit(/url)

and place the unstuffed file in EVONE's Support/Editors/ folder, replacing the one you have in there. I am working on updating the full distribution to include the change. Thanks for your interest in EVONE.

    RE: spaceport problem

Good news: I have been able to replicate the problem. I should know why its not working soon. Don't bother updating the system (unless you want to, of course) because I see the problem on 10.3.3.

    RE: spaceport problem

Hmm, thats a problem. Registering should not affect it. I am looking into it. In the mean time, what OS are you running it under?

I just thought of something. Navigate to <EVONE Folder>/Support/Editors/ Is there a plugin called SpacePort in there?

SpacePort converts EV and EVO plugins to EVN. To use it, open the EV/EVO plug in EVONE and choose Tools->Convert to EVN... and follow the on-screen instructions.

    [ANN] EVONE 1.0pb2.6.1 Maintenance Release

Arios SoftWare has released EVONE Public Beta 2.6.1. EVONE, the Escape Velocity Override Nova Editor, is a complete plugin development environment for the Escape Velocity trilogy by Ambrosia Software.

The 2.6.1 release fixes many bugs that found their way into the recent 2.6 update and also adds scroll-wheel support throughout the application. This and the addition of Finder-like keyboard shortcuts in the main window (Enter, esc, and Command-<Arrow keys> ) greatly improve EVONE's user experience.

    What does it require?
Due to its use of new Carbon technologies, EVONE is only supported on Mac OS 9 or later, and Mac OS X 10.1 or later.

    Where do I get it?
EVONE is available for download at the Arios SoftWare website at:
    (url="http://"http://www.ariossoftware.com/products/evone/")http://www.ariossoft...products/evone/(/url)

EVONE is a $10 shareware application. If you plan on using EVONE, please register and support Arios SoftWare and the Macintosh shareware industry.

[ANN] EVONE 1.0pb2.6: Frame-Level RLE Editor

Baltimore, MD -- March 4, 2004 -- Arios SoftWare announces the release of EVONE Public Beta 2.6! EVONE, the Escape Velocity Override Nova Editor, is a complete plugin development environment for the Escape Velocity trilogy by Ambrosia Software.

    New in This Release
Continuing in EVONE's tradition of providing unique, advanced features, this version includes the first frame-level RLE editor available on the Mac. EVONE's RLEBuilder allows you to easily edit every aspect of rle8 and rleD resources, providing live frame, mask, and composite previews as you go. Change the size, color depth, and number of frames with a click of the mouse. Generate masks based on a color! Import and Export frames to a number of formats!! And preview everything by clicking the frame you're interested in or watching it move at up to 30 FPS.

Among the other countless small changes and bug fixes in this version is a revamp of the main window interface. The smaller size and more minimalist display will increase productivity, putting the controls you really need at your fingertips.

    What does it require?
To the dismay of emulator users, and due to its use of new Carbon technologies, EVONE is only supported on Mac OS 9 or later, and Mac OS X 10.1 or later.

    Where do I get it?
EVONE is available for download at the Arios SoftWare website at:

Fortunately, I have never lost any code. The one time my HD flat-out died, I had backed up the day before. But you have to understand, I backup so much because losing even 100 lines of code would be devestating - it is almost irreplaceable. I have lost websites and fonts and such because I am nowhere near as careful about them. My current problem is how to backup my applications folder because I don't have a big enough second drive 🙂
