Actually it did install and my computer started up with the OS 9 running.
I've got one of the last iMacs that came with 8.6.

I made my first ship yesterday, actually. It's not terribly good.. A cylinder stretched and pulled to make kind of a triangle shape, with engines at the back. I might post it if I fiddle with it a bit.. I had a terrible time spinning it and the engine flame, though.. I followed your tutorial, Jules, then glare realized that I'd been spinning my ship without engine flames, did it all over again, then had to go through and edit all of the sprites so that I'd have a separate engine flame and ship. Is there an easier way to do this??
(edit) Figured it out Copied and pasted the group into a new doc, ungrouped, deleted either the ship or flame, repeated. Thanks anyway! (/edit)

Well for you people using Strata, (Nibbs, Kate...) here's something you can make... It was done in Strata v 1.75+ so I don't know if all the tools still exist. Oh, and everybody forgot to mention Infinit-D, what gives, it's out of date, but if you get good at it you can do some amazing stuff, refer to some of the things (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/military/TigerLarge.jpg")Kyle Katern(/url) and Weepul 884 can do with it.
As for the Strata model, here's an image of it
It's very simple, the large back section is simply a cylinder, you don't need to even add the top mount if you don't want to. The eight barrels are simply duplications of the first one. Which is a cylinder with a boolean subtract through the middle of it. The center supprt pole and the two plates holding the barrel are simply more cylinders of various dimensions. The final piece, the base of the guns, is a boolean cylinder with another cylinder in the middle. If that goes strait over your head, just try and make it with your knowledge of Strata. Once you can build this as well, or hopefully better, then I can, you're well on your way to creating ships. Oh, and those textures are very simple, just metals.

I have stata. Now I'm stuck. I can make shapes but nothing more. How do I pull of push or pull the cube or whatever to change the shape? Is there a manual? Could someone post it or give me a link? I'm totally stuck.

If you search Google for Strata tutorials, you get quite a few results, but I haven't looked at any yet.

So I figured out that the only problem objects are ones that I have extruded and then rotated. I guess I should just avoid doing that. Oh and whats this boolian thing I havn't seen that anywhere in the program yet, maybe its not on the version from Ewan's site?

I've never used it, I've always used antimatter instead. I'm not even sure it still exists. But I would like to see what it does, as even Antimatter has it's problems.
Booleans arent in the version on my site. You need plus or above to use them.

I had pro, but I never figured out how to do the booleans, I could never select it in the menu. I never even new what It meant before reading this thread. My free trial period ran out, so I'm now using the version from ewan's site (Thank you for that ewan, it's very useful ) But finding out I can't subtract material is a real pain, it's put on hold one of my designs for a Carrier, but i'll get round it, it'll just take some time.

That's actually really quite good! Reminds me of a manta ray of sorts... Did you use premade textures, or did you make them yourself?
That's not too bad actually Kate, the texturing could do with a bit of improvement, but the general design's really quite cool. Stick at it, check out the image gallery to have a look at what can be done with Strata, and maybe you'll get some more ideas.
I'm going to have to agree with them, that really isn't that bad at all. You show lots of potential don't give up just as you're getting started. I havn't figured out smoothed shapes that well yet. Argh, I wish I could post a pic of mine(its not done yet, Strata crashing problems have stalled it) but alas I cannot.

The green is an alteration of the glass texture that came with Strata, and the aluminum and the weird ribbing are from Jules' site as downloads.
I've been messing around with Strata a little more today, and it's going better.. will post the ship here when it's done.

OK. Got around the problem and made lots of progress. Only got some final texturing of Auroran-esque lightning bolts and stuff to do then its done!!
Any way I could get a pic hosted to show it off, or do I have to wait until I make a spin and all that then submit it as an addon.
