some help for SP making a perfect EVO-EVN converter.

Yesterday I found a TC of Override I didn't even know existed. I've never heard anything about it, Its called Galaxy's Edge, It actually alters the Game engine to add some really awsome effects, I have never seen anything like it. But here's the thing, it could easily be ported to Nova, several alterations made to the engine made it similar to Nova, such as the changed landing interface. I remember seeing some screen shots of EVN when it was a plugin for Override, the landing interface was just like this, exept that the buttons were lined across the top, not the bottom.

Here is the download link:(url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/GalaxysEdge.sit.bin?path=evo/plugins&file;=GalaxysEdge.sit.bin")Galaxy's Edge(/url)

Note:Even if it won't work for the converter tests it's worth playing.

Hm!

I don't have time to fire it up right now, but I peeked into one of the files, and it looks quite "T" (as in "Total"). The descs seem well-written and interesting.... According to the "About" text, it's by Peter de Blanc, and Skyblade was one of the testers.

I always peek at files before playing, and I just couldn't find the shipyard pics, all I could find were these long thin pictures. Then I played and discovered that he had altered the the game somehow and made it possible for Override to display those long pics. Same with landing pictures. Its annoying what he did with the missions though, there isn't a mission computer!

I played this one for a bit, quite a while ago, but got rather bored before too long. Yes I guess that from an aesthetic viewpoint and for sheer impressiveness in coding, the changes they made to the interface were pretty cool. However, the design of the galaxy was not helpful.

Basically it was supposed to be 'more realistic' so about 90% of the systems are uninhabited and with a blank map it's pretty hard to find, well, anything really. And all the ships seem very similar IIRC. Thankfully they made fuel recharging with solar panels really fast but you still have to make long journeys blind.

On top of all of this, I played it on a PC emulating os 7.5, and EVO required about 80000kb preferred memory just to launch it.

But having said all that, I would definitely now give it a go if it was ported to Nova :).

IIRC? The thing I found most annoying was probably the shuttlecraft with one jump of energy, and yes, fuel is called energy just like nova.

If I recall correctly....

Yeah that's quite interesting. I seem to remember that they intended the shuttle in Nova to have only 1 or 2 jumps' energy - there seem to be quite some comparisons here.

Actually I remember in 1.0.6 the shuttle craft had two jumps of fuel.

in fact, there are alot of similarities, I don't remember all of them at the moment though........
