Qerid System
With the first station now finished, the Acarra had also almost finished the second station. Lythrawn knew that you could never have enough battlestations, and with limited ships to fight the Milky Way with, he had to make sure his defenses were impenetrable.
Troub System
The Pirates had suffered heavy losses to the Acarra and Coalition in recent days, and with their already small navy, they were quite weak and open to invasion.
As more reinforcements arrived from the Acarra coreworlds, Thrade tried a daring maneuver. He over half his fleet to Troub to eradicate the Pirate force there, and possibly march on to conquer the rest of Pirate space.
The Acarra warships jumped in, surprising the fairly small Pirate force, and pounding them with heavy long-range weapons before charging in themselves, shooting off lances of energy which turned fighters, gunboats, and frigates to molten metal within moments.
Then came the Legion Transports, dozens of them, all plowing through enemy fire then descending to the surface, where they began unloading thousands of Acarra shockwarriors. Due to the fact that Troub was a fairly small base, the Acarra swept across the planet, destroying any and all resistence.
Dazgari System
I am one with the force.... I am one with my mind.... I am one with the universe...
Vacar, the former Praetor of the Dazgari system, sat in his giant stone temple high on the top of the Mountain Talalosk. The stone was made entirely out of black rock, and served as Vacar's personal meditation center.
It was there, in the central area, surrounding by 12 large black crystal pillars, that Vacar practiced the art of the psionic force. He weaved countless patterns, experimenting with his mind, seeing how far he could extend his psionic powers. He created countless Kalej Lances, and it was rumored that he himself could project a Kalej Lance of such great intensity, on the ground, that it was more powerful than the space variant.
He was now practicing with drawing the psionic force from the very universe around him, bending it into a huge force he could control. As he chanted, trying to weave more patterns with this newfound energy, he discovered that the main problem with trying to do this was simply controlling the huge force that flowed through one when he tried to use the universe to do his will.
However, Vacar had learned that, with enough training and doing it over and over again, he could slowly, bit by bit, control the huge psionic wave more and more. It would take time, but he believed that it was possible to create a new energy lance with this power, a lance so powerful it would make the Lane of Kalej look simple.
Finally, exhausted, Vacar stopped for a moment, then walked off to his house to rest, contemplating all that he had learned...

In Dewe, The Shamtul were holding their own. The Shamtul were attacking blindly. A ship being Identified as a miranu class, suddenly fired it's Adaah emitter towards an attacking Ghalok, with results no one expected. The Ghalok took damage, and retaliated with a new fury- and a few other Ghalok suddenly pulled away from their own engagements and collected around the miranu class vessel, attacking it with everything. Soon, One Ghalok managed to puncture the hull. The others backed away, and the Ghalok began to consume the hull, and would have finished it if an acarra torpedo had not distracted it. Several Ghalok retreated to the edge of the system with unbelieveable speed, and harassed the Acarra command ship from afar with high-yield EMP blasts, slowly decreasing it's shields, and using glavir worms to take out any harassing fighters.....

OOC:I am not particularly happy of your critique of my gunners capabilities, but oh well. I was thinking of retreating anyways. ------------------------------------------------ Paul had long since left the battleroom and returned to the bridge. The battleroom was better shielded than the bridge, but the energy being supplied to it had been rerouted to the shields. Quickly typing in a few codes, he slaved all working Miranu ships to the Bahumat 's navicomp. He set course for the Mirava system. There were several ships in which the whole crew had been incapacitated by Accara psi-attacks, but these were now being controlled directly by Paul. Those that still had crew that could react, knew the reason for this course of action.
Retreat. All of the ships jumped out of the system. Several fighters that were still strafing the Accara troops and were on the other side of the planet actually performed hyper-jumps into the planet, sucking small portions of the planets crust into hyperspace and destroying the fighters. The largest subsidence created was half of a kilometer deep, and took out a landing transport, its Accara warriors, and a few plantations of Munb leaves. Some of the ships in the fleet had slugs on them.
As they arrived in the Mirava system, the ships with slugs were piloted via remote to the far-out reaches of the system. 100 Mechs had been produced so far, and these were loaded onto a freightor for the trip out there. Their small engines could not bring them to the ships with any great speed, but they would leave the freightor as it approached the ships. Paul paused the production and waited to see what effect they would have on the slugs. If they were inneffective, they would be discontinued and work on other projects begun.
The rest of the fleet that could still fly didn't need many repairs. All of the crewers that had been attacked by the Accara had recovered mostly by the time they reached Mira, and could repair their own ships. Paul viewed the new Disruptor cannons, and watched several test firings. They went right through shields, and ripped a meter wide hole in a block of metal with a shield projector and power generator secured inside. Several politicians and military leaders said that the Suicide Warships could be employed agaisnt the Accara to great effect. The scientists had a better idea.
They had seen footage of the torpedoes used by the Accara, and thought they could produce something that was on par with them, but had different effects. Instead of the regular ion or chemical drive, it would use forced photons to propel it at speeds close to the speed of sound. Several new stocks of anti-matter had been secured, and these would be used as the warheads for the torpedoes. A special drive they had been fussing with in their spare time would project the torpedo into subspace and hyperspace, while it still existed in midspace. This made it nearly impossible to turn, as it would expierience three time the g-forces and stress the hull and drive. Since it existed in subspace, midspace, and hyperspace, it would do triple the damage than a torpedo that existed in midspace alone. It was dubbed the Forced Particle Drive Multi-Phasic Anti-Matter Torpedo, or the Photon Torpedo for short. It was going to be pretty hard to develop, but not so hard as the disruptor cannon. --------------------------------------------- The Heavy Freightor Ares Trust exited its in-system hyper-jump about a kilometer from the 'infested' ships that were holding position on the outskirts of the system. Four ion engines had been welded onto the hull of the freightor, pointing down at a 90° angle to the main drives. In a maneuver you would only expect of military ships, the freightor engaged its two forward engines and brought its bow up as it turned its drive engines off and opened up the lower cargo bay doors. When it was pointing straight 'up', it engaged the last two ion engines and turned them all on full thrust, flinging the Mechs out of the hold and at the ships. They quickly engaged their engines and sped toward the ships. On a command from the Bahumat , a message was sent to the ships to open their cargo holds. The Mechs slowly approached these openings, weapons ready. Dewe 2 Coalition Warcruisers with a Squad of fighters jumps in and begins to engage the Acarra ships one by one taking out whatever is closest to them staying defensive mainly going on the Attack to take out stray ships away from formation being carful not to hit any slugs. the Acarra lose only 5 ships in this manner so far but only 3 Coalition fighters have been lost due to the Acarra focusing on killing the slugs.

Hyperspace, between DSN7294 and Ariane
At last, the Poch-based Ultra-Slow Hyperspace Observation Vehicle (USHOV) jumped, or rather crept, into the hyperspacial link where Grunadulator's lost carrier lurked. The carrier was limping home from the Huron battle between the Confeds and the Acarra when its hyperdrive melted.
Shamay, captain and lead scientist of the USHOV, monitored the long, multicolored tendrils of the hyperspacial "tunnel". By now used to the sometimes bizarrre perceptions of reality inside hyperspace, she ignored that her feet seemed to be stretching down to another continent, and that her nearest officer, in the adjoining chair on the bridge, looked to be 50 meters away. Some spacefarers went insane when they were conscious in hyperspace; hence the Poch Miranu, with their notorious hardheadedness, were the ideal crew for the hyperspace vehicle. Most normal hyperspace-faring ships traversed the links so quickly that the perceptual distortions were not even noticed.
While negotiating what seemed to be a thousand-meter tangle of violently orange, white, and blue spaghetti, they finally located Grundy's ship, the carrier Goodenuf. There were still life signs on the ship, although main engines were off line. "Hail the Goodenuf " ordered Shamay. It took several tries before the Goodenuf acknowledged their hail. The problem seemed to be that the Goodenuf 's perceptions of time were faster - so the USHOV had to speed up its transmission speed to communicate. Finally, "Who...are you, and how are you able to move normally in here?" came the plaintive reply. "We'll explain later. Admiral Grunadulator has hired us to get you to Eltor. We're going to try to tractor you through the link to Ariane for repairs." "I don't know that we can help you much. Most of our crew are insane or catatonic from the perceptual overload. I'm a Poch Mercenary, serving as 3rd officer. Go ahead and try to tractor us out of here."
Cautiously ( no one had ever employed a tractor beam in hyperspace before), the USHOV attempted to tow the disabled ship. However, the tractor beam kept "slipping off", as the ship's apparent dimensions changed due to the relativistic fluctuations in the link. Finally, the two crews decided just to evacuate all personnel from the carrier, and also to bring in the holo footage from the Huron battle with the Acarra, so that the Confederation could learn how they were defeated so easily by the Acarra.
After several nerve-wracking shuttle trips, all the carrier's personnel were crammed aboard the USHOV. Many had to be sedated in the USHOV's medical bay. Then the USHOV set off for Eltor.
Eltor, two days later
After Grunadulator welcomed back his crew from the unfortunate Goodenuf , he went with his senior staff to review the holo footage from the battle.
Mamajama received with satisfaction the 1 million credit payment for rescuing the ship, and said goodbye to Grunadulator, and thanks also for the fleet of 1 Defender, 7 Carriers, and 5 Haulers to defend Poch.
She also reviewed a message from Saraine, inviting her scientists to work with the Dark Angels on developing new technology. Perhaps the USHOV scientists could be of use on the DA's singularity project she thought.

Her message console then lit up with an incoming transmission. Her lead scientist on the slug research project, Bomphur, absorbed her attention, with his account of the Battle of Dewe. The transmission contained footage from the battle at Dewe, and showed that the slugs were more than capable of taking on the Acarra. It also showed the brave charge of the Poch Mercenaries, while protecting the drone ship which had deloyed the slugs. One third of those mercenaries, her own peole, friends and enemies from her home planet, had been killed in that battle. Mamajama grieved their deaths, and vowed to revenge them.
However, far from being a non-sentient animal which could be used as a bio-weapon (her original plan), the Slug creatures appeared to be a sentient, and hostile race with their own grudge against the Acarra. Therefore, rather than bio-weaponry, an alliance was to be considered. However, how does one make an alliance with someone whose wants to devour the brains of you and all of your crew?

Bomphur, I thank you for your courageous deployment of the slug creatures at the battle of Dewe, and congratulate you on your miraculous escape. I would like you to continue research with the slugs you have in captivity. As you are also aware by now, these are sentient beings, and should be treated with more respect than we have been doing. Don't let them eat any of my crew, but upgrade their living quarters. If they have needs that don't include Miranu brains, meet those needs. Have our best alien language specialists work on establishing communication. Try to find out exactly how they are able to devour the Acarran shields and armor, and what their history and grudge is with the Acarra.

"Hmmm, the SILO production is complete. That's a relief." "Problem is, within a short time they're going to be obsolete." Raven pointed out. "We'll find something to replace them." "We always do." Raven replied.

MOD: UE Admiral, there's no way you could have gotten to Dewe that quickly. Sorry. Your ships just aren't that fast, and the battle wouldn't have lasted long enough anyway.
Dewe System
The Acarra charged the slugs head on, firing off all their weapons at once, tearing through flesh and slug. The Command Ship engaged the Ghalok that were attacking it, quickly crushing them with its huge armament.
Now outnumbering their slug foes, the Acarra continued to pummel the slugs with all they had. Dozens of torpedoes would smash into one slug alone; the very force of the explosions tearing it apart.
Scouts now became useful. Their psionic disruptors proved to have some sort of temporary disabling effect on slugs, and were know to actually kill smaller, baby slugs, frying them almost instantly. Swarms of scoutships flew past Zareak and Ghalok slugs, hitting them with what little firepower the scoutships had. Meanwhile, the other large warships also plowed through the shamtul, firing off hundreds of psi pulses. Any ship that was disabled and started to be eaten was destroyed, usually killing the Shamtul that was feeding on it.
The Acarra continued to push the Pirates back, forcing them closer and closer to the planet, dozens of ships falling in moments. The battle did not look good for the Pirates, until a reinforcement fleet arrived.
However, no sooner had the fleet entered the system, then it was suddenly hit by five different energy lattices, tearing through its formation and destroying and damaging many ships. Then came a wave of warp disruptor torpedoes, destroying many more of them, before the actual Acarra fleet charged, destroying all but three of the reinforcement ships.
Slug Research - Nemnel System
As the remaining captive slugs continued growing, constantly eating dead and live grivians, one Miranu scientist decided to try a new experiment. He put Munb leaves in the brains of one Grivian, and caused an unexpected result.
The slugs immediately swarmed the brain; ALL of them. The brain was devoured in seconds, and the scientists were puzzeled why the slugs seemed to like the leaves so much.
As the slugs began to reproduce, they suddenly realized that the smell of the leaves was similar to the smell of a female slug when it released special scents into the air to attract male slugs.
The leaves also seemed to start a growth spurt. Two slugs started becoming Zareak, and three others started growing into Ghalok. They grew quite fast, continuing to reproduce, and continuing to eat like mad.
During the attempts to try and figure out their language, the Miranu scientists noticed that they seemed to be able to communicate with each other via body signals, a weird sort of 'clicking', and some other unusual sounds. They made no sense, and so the Miranu kept listening, trying to unlock the secret to contacting the Shamtul...

OOC: Slugs don't grow on trees, UE Admiral. You'll have to look around a long time for them, and even I don't know where they are exactly; ask Red.
The Acarra charged back into the Shamtul line, blasting away the larvae easily, then pummelling their center line with heavy artillary. Their front line was collapsing, and they were now outnumbered and mostly outgunned.
The Command Ship actually rammed through some shamtul, crushing them against its huge shield grid. The Shamtul were forced to fall back, and when they tried to counter-charge again, the Acarra came around their flank, causing them more damage.

Espilot was surveying the bridge controls of the Quetzalcoatl , when he had an idea. Most ships' power is derived from a single main generator, but if seperate functions on a ship, such as shielding, engines and energy-based weapons each had a seperate generator, they would be able to operate more effenciently and perform much better. He'd have to tell this to Kennel.
Espilot arrived at the R&D; facility, going straight to Kennel's office. "Kennel, I just got a rather interseting idea...."
The multiple generator idea would only work on larger ships lke Carriers, Trebuchets and Zidagras, but it would still be that much more power for the fleet. He arrived back at the shady dockyard where the Wraith Shadow was parked. Inside the cargo hull were now some bricks and larger cement blocks. He would practice on these. Jumping into the cockpit, he blasted away and headed for the spot in the NT Asteroid Belt where he had been training.
Vice Admiral Kalej was now in control of the Quetzalcoatl , and was admiring the sheer power of the vessel; no Zidigar vessel alone had as much firepower as this ship, and it was now outfitted with a large number of the new Anti-Matter missiles. And ensign came up to him and said "Sir, we've received a message from our scientists working with the DA. They said that the Singularity Generator research is finished." "Excellent! And with this new multi-generator technology, our capitol ships will be even more powerful. OOC: ESPilot, that's what we did in RoC III, but as you have a full research count, I was just reducing the amount of posts required for the research to be complete.
The scientists, having finished the Generator, were herded out into the sunshine for some R&R.; Blinking in the natural light, Raven's assistant Raiessa summed up the general mood of the group: "C'mon, we've got a Shield system and a Beam to finish. Let's go back inside." There was a general murmuring of agreement, and they trooped back into the research center, where they split into two groups, to work on both the Shields and Beam.

Espilot was in his Arada's cargo section, focusing on the brick before him. Bending spoons was at first challenging, but levitating a brick seemed impossible. Slowly, the brick started to shake a little...It rose barely a millimeter. Espilot's head was starting to hurt, and it was getting worse as he tried. The brick suddenly rose a littler more, and a little more, but then, the pain had become to great. Espilot blacked out.
"Sir?"...."Sir? Are you there?" "Unhh....My head...what? What is it?" "Admiral, sir, this is Kalej. The Anti-matter synthesis research is complete. We'll be producing our own anti-matter now." "Excellent, excellent...What about the singularity research?" "The Singularity Generator has been completed, and the researchers are now working on Singularity shielding and the beam itself." "All right, sounds good. Now, try not to bother me again." "Yes sir." Epsilot closed the channel, holding one hand to his head. "Man, this psi training hurts. I guess Zidigar weren't really made for this sort of thing, let alone a sixty-four year old admiral. If we're going to start working on those psi emitters, we'll need a real example of psionic potential...But I don't think the Azdgari would be willing to give us one of their people...that's it! The maps!" Espilot set in a course for Meagh. He was going meet with Red'chigh himself.
As Espilot came to the Azdgari border, he activated the sensor cloak. As long as he kept away from the planet, he wouldn't be spotted. He noticed there were more Azdgari warships along the border region of space. And ESPilot, sorry, but it would be pretty much impossible to do anything with psi for the Zidagar. You need a LOT of training to even start to use the psionic power, and Zidagar have almost no psionic powers at all.

Finally, the Pirate fleet was totally destroyed, and the Acarra warfleet quickly took control of the system. With Troub in their hands, it was just one more step towards the complete domination of the Coalition Pirates...
Omm System
After the victory in Troub, the fleet there moved back into Huron, and then attacked Omm after recieving 30 more ships from the empire.
The Acarra fleet slipstreamed into the Omm system to find a fairly weak Pirate force. They charged forward, creating an immensely powerful energy lattice which tore through the Pirate fleet easily, causing mass havoc as the Acarra turned around and blasted the enemy fleet with all they had. Some of the first upgraded Wolf Starcruisers were in the fleet, and proved quite effective with their extra shielding and weaponry.
Muid System
Without warning, a huge Acarra warfleet of 90 warships jumped into the system. Launching an equally large swarm of fighters, they descended upon the Azdgari ships without hesitation, annihilating the first wave of Azdaras with a huge barrage of hyperfield torpedoes.
As the colossal Command Ship Apollyon led the charge, wave after wave of warp disruptor torpedoes were fired, neutralizing ship after ship. The Azdaras, though they outmaneuvered the slightly slower but much much more powerful Wraith fighters, could not seem to out-duel the quick Shrikes as they flew about the system, blasting away with their powerful weaponry.
Finally, after much waiting, the Acarra would attack their primary target; the Azdgari.
Mirava System
As the Miranu Mechs began boarding the ships that had been boarded by the slugs, with all of their crew dead, Benden waited anxiously to see how well the mechs performed.
As soon as they entered they were ambushed by dozens upon dozens of slugs. Several mechs fell, but many more slugs fell, and soon the initial area was secure on the ships.
As the mechs slowly made their way through the inner portions of the vessels, they continued to meet incredible resistence by the slugs. On one ship, however, the attack was disasterous. There so happened to be several very large slugs onboard which were able to tear apart and eat the mechs easily. Though soon all the other ships were taken with moderate or light losses, that one ship was still a blood battleground. The slugs were simply taking out too many mechs, and finally the Miranu were forced to destroy the frieghter with heavy weapons fire.
Overral, though they had suffered losses, the mechs worked quite well, and were definitely better than standard ground troops.
The Wolf Starcruiser
With the upgrade on the Wolf Starcruiser complete, the Navy was beginning a total refit on all their starcruisers. The fleets attacking the main section of the Milky Way were outfitted first, then came the rest of the empire. Supplies were also being stored up in preparation for the refit on all of their command ships.

Paul watched several recordings of the battle in the outer system, and decided that the mechs were a worthy resource. Half of the Mechs had been destroyed, so there were only 50 of them left. The smaller and medium-sized slugs were a good match for them, but the larger ones had to be taken out by several Mechs. The scientists who had also reveiwed the battle suggested adding more rockets, or upgrading the Gatling Phase Cannon to a Lysew or Neutron Cannon. The ships were currently back in drydock, their hulls being patched and the crews being readied. The ones that had been able to make it back here had all been ones that weren't disabled or had taken heavy damage. All others had been destroyed. The Accara took no prisoners.
Work was progressing well on the current projects. Almost 2000 uprooted Hrekkans had given a hand with building the Station, and had dropped its build time considerably(-4 Posts). However, the Photon Torpedoes were going to take a while yet. A High Council meeting had been called to discuss the budget and how the surplus should be spent. Paul had spent one fourth of last quarters surplus on paying mamajama to sterilize a planet. This quarter he was sure it would not go to such a futile action. ---------------------------------------------- The High Council Debate Hall was rather large, being three stories high, five hundred feet long, and five hundred feet wide. All Miranu citizens were welcome to attend, and there were seats around the High Coucil's table to accomodate them. Several large screens and speakers were set up about the room so people could watch from the very back. The table itself was a work of art. Hand-hewn from a single Yakishi tree trunk, it was an immense 20 feet in diameter, and five inches thick. Seated around it were representatives from every Miranu world, and the leaders of the Military, Science, Trading, and Foreign Relations departments. Paul was representing the Military branch.
All of the leaders spoke up. Many asked that the surplus be spent on ships or planetary shields. Others said that it should be spent on food for the poor or aid for the sick. Some, even in this time of crisis, asked that the money be spent on increasing trade. After all was said, votes were cast as to where and how much money was to be allocated. The Military department got 100 Million credits. The last 20 Million went back into the economy.
The meeting ended, and Paul left with his newfound wealth to go to the shipyards. Versai Corp. Shipyards always had around 20 Ares Crescent Warships in the dockyard, fresh out of the shipyards and with all of their outfits, minus the fighters. They cost about five million each. These were purchased with the surplus from the budget. Three days later, they were slaved to several command ships and placed in fleets.
Looking over several intelligence reports, Paul saw that several governments had formed research treaties. Seeing this as a good idea, Paul called up some old friends.

Espilot entered the Meagh system. His ship's IFF code registered him as a simple trader, and he asked for docking clearance. After being accepted, he quickly landed, and asked the local Azdgari military overseer where to find Red'chigh, saying he had an important meeting. Espilot was trying very hard not to show his teeth, which would obviously give him away. The overseer was skeptical, but he answered, and Espilot went as quickly as possible to the headquarters. He soon found himself up against a high-security locked door. "Well aren't we the clever ones...what could an unbreachable door possibly be doing here , at the Azdgari's military HQ?" Espilot mused. He looked the door and the surrounding wall over. Smooth as glass. Maybe it was password protected. He then saw what he was looking for; a passerby officer, and his rankbars obviously signified he was high up on the military chain. "Excuse me sir, but what's the password for this door? I'm running late for a meeting with Red'chigh..."
