Just wondering how long everyone has been playing this game? I discovered it in early 1998.

I believe I first downloaded EVO in May '98. And then I started playing it. And thought it ruled

I first played it as soon as it came out. Very soon after that, I had Hector steal many, many credits. I stopped playing after that.

I played it a few weeks after it was released (just like EV). But unlike Escape Velocity, I didn't like it all that much... Plastic graphics and the style of the game just didn't fit my taste. I hardly touch Override anymore, and play EV every now and then.

I got it right when it came out for the first time on a Mac Addict CD when I first got my mac. I played it for a long time, and got a hacked code to stop hector. Then I stopped playing. After a couple weeks after I reinitialized my hard drive, I decided to reinitialize my life as well, so I decided to pay for it, anyway, I didn't like having my relatives see that I didn't pay for it, either. I've played it ever since, at least 3 hours a week.

Well I started playing it probably January of 2001 - that will be last year tomorrow (Happy New year!) I probably logged about 200 hours on that game throughout the year and I've done pretty much everything in the game - done all the major strings, a lot of smaller ones, made a lot of money and gotten a little bored. Right now I'm doing some simple plug work for Ares, I've made a few and am working on a larger one. I'm really getting bored with EV & EVO - Nova better get here fast!

I think the better question would be how long have you not played EVO. I haven't played it for over a year.

Since the day it arrived it was my baby. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
Why am I never on the boards if I'm such an ancient? Schoolwork........more and more and more....
:: puts on a face:: I dunno what you all complain'in 'bout. EVO has the miranu Gunship and Arada. That makes all the difference. Its much longer aswell and offers much more possibilities. The only thing i can think of that made the first game better was because it was the first in a line. I loved the first game. It was such a change from all the other games I'd played. It had that mystical nature about it, sorta like Diablo had before the second game was released. The first day I captured a Rebel Cruiser with my Kestrel cus they hadn't let me buy them yet..I sent pictures to all my friends. Then I played as the Confeds and abandoned all my Rebel loving friends. EVO and the dreadnought though.....my my my...oh the stories i could tell.

Well, if by how long you mean when we first got it, I downloaded it the day it was released.

Same here. I stopped playing around a year ago and have only recently started again. Got one of my friends to start again, too The main reason I'm playing EVO again is to help me refresh my piloting skills for when Nova comes out. Too bad most of the "tactics" I used against the enemy seem to have been eliminated in Nova, but a quick trigger finger and lightning fast reflexes never hurt.

I get more than i need of those from an overabundance of Super Smash Bros. Melee playtime.
I have been playing for a year and a couple months. And super smash melee rocks!

I haven't played it in about 3 months. I only play to try new plug-ins. I got the game the first day it was released. Loved it, played it, and killed it.

How long have I played EV:O? Not nearly long enough.
How long have I not played EV:O? Ohh...coming on a month now. A record, since my Mac broke. Usually I'm back to it to start a new pilot file, usually using a pilot file editor so I can get right back into the fray straight off, every few days or so. Then there's the monthly attempt at a plug-in, and the weekly new plug-in to test and find it doesn't work...
Happy Holidays, Esponer

I played it for the first time right after it came out.

I got when it came out on MacAddict's CD, as I wasn't able to download it, seeing how my Quadra 700 didn't have a modem...

I havent played scince I stopped using my Mac (ugh betrayal betrayal) but im getting something like Basilisk soon (mac emulator) and then Ill make some plugins but most of all play Nova =P
Can't remember exactly when, but I'm pretty sure I only played EV classic after EVO was already out... it was a chance discovery in a boring summer (and I mean December :)) holiday. I was on an LCIII with barely even the minimum requirements, but played through EV once and then through most of EVO several times... it really wasn't kind to the computer, which took about 5 minutes to load override!
Then didn't really play for a year, as I got a PC (sorry), and could only face trying it again so slow, about the same time the following year, which was '99. Then the next time I played it was January this year, shortly after which I found this place, and emulators.. and have been playing both games quite a bit since, with no intention of stopping soon :).
