Paradign - Thank you for the warm welcome. A quick note, I will usually post any stories that happen to me in "Moments of Pride and Accomplishment". I will post regular updates here, but for any major battles that happen on this journey, find it in that topic. Why am I addressing this? I posted my story of my Dreadnought battles (yes plural, I'm sure you know what that means) in there. If you wish to read how I did, it's on page 6 or 7, or both.
Captains log - I forget the current date:
I've headed up to Miranu space, after a rousing set of events with the UE. I plan to aid the Zachit, and perhaps the Zidagar, since I am prohibited to make contact with the Azdgari. Up here, against Phase weaponry, I thank the Voinians for their Defector, and their Dospect Armor. I rarely see my shields up here in the North Tip. I've created a hybrid technique. It combines the running away of the Monty Python, and the "Spear" effect. This works particularly (sp?) well against other Crescent Fighters. I begin flying away from the planet, but I keep making fly-bys against my opponent, making a ladder shape. It's hard to explain. I took out a Crescent Warship the other day, at Outpost Zachit. Then, when I took off, I was met with 2 Aradas, and 1 Crescent Warship. Unfortunately, I was shot down, after a long battle. I took out the Aradas, and the Crescent Fighters, and brought the Crescent Warship down to 16% Shields. I was too hasty in this battle, thus it was my fault I died. I was VERY low on armor before I made the death run, and slammed into a SAD. I must learn to hold back and let the armor recharge before going back into the battle.

I hope there isn't a time limit for this challenge, because I'm only playing on weekends.
------------------ Giule out.
Giule :Don't worry, there is thankfully no time limit.
Well, today I am feeling preeety darn lucky. I got the first of the dreadnought missions and managed to live through it. I entered the system with a little over 50% shields to a fleet of voinians. My shuttle isn't the most manoeouverable craft around but I managed to get behind an asteroid field with 30% armor left. I decided it was now or nothing so I kicked in the afterburner and let loose. I sped towards the planet and realized that I was on a direct course to hit a rocket that would be fatal if hit. I pulled my own little trick I call "Up and Over", which goes something like this. It only works with rockets but it is especially useful in fighters thanks to their extra speed. You basically steer parrallel to the rocket, turn so you are not quite facing it and then hit the gas. The momentum the other way keeps you from just stopping and hitting hte rocket, rather you are pushed to the side and the rocket passes behind you harmlessly. Either way, it saved my rear and I'm sure will do so again during the fight w/ the dreaded dreadnought...

Progress Update:
I completed some some substrings in UE space: Anna Balashova, free Huron, and Paaren Station. I have also explored the Proxima Nebula, but can't continue to Ji until I get enough cargo space to take the Miranu back, so I'll probably get a second cargo expansion at the very end to finish it up. In the UE string, I've just allied the UE and the Emalgha. For the Zidagar, I've tricked the Azdgari into attacking the renegades. I've also picked up the Kirrim Prime ski resort missions. At the moment, I'm cruising around looking for the next UE and Zidagar missions.
------------------ P.S. I might fall behnd everyone pretty soon. Spring break is coming up, and I'll be going home from college for a week. I won't have access to a Mac other than my old PowerBook 520c, which doesn't have a big enough screen. On the other hand, if I put my pilot on a floppy and get an emulator for my family's PC...

I've just toasted the Dreadnought. I think there's a story about it in the MOPAA topic.
Am currently looking for Needle Jammer, Free Huron, and Anna B. Missions. I plan to complete the UE missions and be a rich man before I head to Miranu space. Good luck all.

AAAAAAAAA!!!!! CURSES! Being foolish today, I bought a new UE fighter and forgot the escape pod!!!!! I get hit by a stray rocket, alarms go off, I can't understand why the eject command doesn't work and next thing I know, I'm going to have to start all over again!!!!! AAAAUGHGHGHGHGH!!!

Well, today I decided to forget the UE missions until later and am heading into Strandless space to get myself a Crescent Fighter. I have the first mission of the Needle Jammers waiting for me as soon as I get back....Oh yeah, I have recompleted the Pareen missions wiht the new pilot since the other one got killed.

I still haven't done anything with the Zidagar in a while, but I'm working on freeing the Hinwar. My current mission is "attack Gualon Station." I traded in my beloved phase cannons for blaze cannons since I'm taking on the Voinians, and my cargo expansion gives me enough room for d'Erlon's marines. So I kill the Voinian defense force (it takes a while) and dock at the station. The marines disappear from my hold, but NOTHING HAPPENS, I still have the mission active. It's been forever since I played this one, does anyone remember what to do? I know you can't completely cleanse the system of Voinians, since more are constantly warping in and out. But I killed the fleet that warped in for mission purposes, so I should be cool, but I'm not. GRRRRRR! Frustration!
------------------ The last time I was on this board, the price of dumb questions was really high.
Well, today I realized that I'm not going to make enough money to survive raiding human renegades so I think I'll go into the trading buisness. Once I make a mill or two, then I am buying a crescent fighter and going after the Needle Jammer missions....I'll miss my UE fighter tho....
Stats
4 Blaze Cannons Three Needle Launchers 257 needles(for now)
It's wicked against the human rens.

Hrm, my guess is that you don't have all the mission ships defeated. The best way to do this is to attack and disable all of them before killing them off one by one, that way, you don't have to attack any non-mission ships....try this, it should work.
Well Poetic Justice , the UE fighter described above, won out agains a crescent fighter and it did quite well against the renegades. I defeated the rens and got the jammer and am on the final Free Huron mission. After this, I'll get rid of the needles and refit a rocket launcher before taking on Dreddy.
P.S. Am I the only one left posting here?

I always do, no luck though. But thanks anyway.
Greetings too you all. I will not be participating in your challenge, for reasons which will become clear once you read my sig line Anyway, how the heck do you get the Anna missions? I've even tried looking in the in the data files with EV Edit, and I still can't get it. Any help would be appreciated. Also, feel free to drop any hints to where major mission strings start, as I seem to be unable to find many of them. Perhaps I'm too distracted by my shipmate and long time companion. Best of luck to you all on your solo careers, and I hope the loneliness doesn't get to you all too much.
Good fortune, Slinky.

Emalgha missions.....duh Huron missions.....duh again Needle Jammer missions......coughmestorcough Anna.....is says she lives in the Talii system Dreadnought.......Mestor, me thinks
Anyways, I just finished the huron missions and the Poetic Justice performed beautifully destroying five renegade turncoats without any help. I have now upgraded to a crescent fighter with four blaze cannons and rockets. Die Dreddy Die!
Well, I no longer have access to my mac, if you want details, read my post in B&B.; Good luck all.
Well, I haven't posted here in a while, here's my current status:
Needle Jammer: Done Free Huron: Done Dreadnought: Done Establish Miranu Relations: Done Strand: Working with Zidagar, not finished. (Read on)
Ship: Crescent Fighter Ship Outfits: 4 Swivel Dospect 2 Extra Fuel Tanks 1 Fuel Scoop Sensory/ECM Enhancements Systems Upgrade Afterburner Cargo Expansion
On the Fluor mission, you need a minimum of 10 tons of cargo space. The Crescent Fighter has 5. I had to get waste my Systems Upgrade for the POS Zidagar. I am not stuck on the Chak mission (I forget what its called). About 30 billion Azdaras and their Warship counterparts, + about 12 Aradas vs Me. So now I am stuck on a mission, and a ruined ship. I did not backup my pilot either. :frown:

What the heck? I'll bring my fighter pilot experiences into the fray.
My rules: Ā Crew of one Ā No escorts Ā No Azdgari (It'd just be too easy in an Azdara) Ā Strict play
Let's see... that rules out Voinian ships. CF, maybe. UE looks good...

Yeah that 'Chak mission' is a pain at the best of times! In a fighter I think you'd have to be more than scared - I seem to remember getting taken out in a Zidara on that mission. You might be able to do it if you just keep running for a while maybe.. or maybe downgrade to normal phase cannons and purchase dispersal rockets? They'd eat up a few of the azdaras at least :).

Mission Accomplished...
Well, as proof that I have less of a life than any of the other challengers, I am apparently the first to have completed the "Crew of One" challenge. I flew a Crescent Fighter, and finished in June of 2159. In addition to the UE, Zidagar, and Nebula objectives, I completed the New Calcutta plague, the Kirrim Prime Ski Resort, the rescue Anna Balashova, Free Huron, and Needle Jammer mission strings. I did not play Strict, so the finish line for strict players remains uncrossed, and I died a warrior's death quite a few times, since you have vitually no time to eject. Anyway, I look forward to everyone else's results, and now I can resume work on my plug-in. Thus, Dave "Baby" Cortez (I got the name from a 50's musician, anyone heard of him?), pilot of the Crescent Fighter StarStrafer , hereby retires his vessel. Having saved up close to 50 million credits, he plans to take some time off before resuming his career as the captain of a brand new warship.
What did you do about the project evacuation after killing the Igazra? Did you buy a cargo expansion, or go back to UE space and get a Shuttle? By the way, how did you get 50 million credits?
