Once I got to the evacuation mission, I left and did everything else. Then I had to unload most of my weapons and get a second cargo expansion to evacuate the planet. I then carried on with the Ji exploration to finish the challenge. I don't have quite 50 million credits, more like 47, but they just kind of accumulate over the course of the game, because you don't have much to spend them on, other than fuel, since you can't upgrade your ship much or buy a new one.

StarStrafer - Hmm....it seems you have almost the exact same ship as I. How the !@#$ did you beat the Chalk Mission? (Chak )

UPDATE:
goomeister currently has about half a million creds. He is aiming for the mission to get the systems upgrade so he can have the space to put shield capacitors on his ship. He's probably going to head on down to UE space for the cloak.
Ship stats:
Name: Soulblighter Type: UE Fighter
Outfits: 4 Phase Cannons 2 Fuel Tanks 2 Fuel Scoops 1 Dospect Armor 1 ECM System 1 Ziddie ECM All the scanner upgrades except the NPD 1 Escape Pod

Check out "moments of pride and accomplishment," the story is there.
Status Update:
I have now FINALLY completed the Strand Central Objective. Read about it in "Moments of Pride and Accomplishment". I will now move towards finishing the UE Objective.
How's everyone else doin?
OK, I'm takin' up the challenge -crew of one -no escort -no azdaras -strict play
BTW: What IS monty pythoning? I need to know before I can accept.
How do you complete the nebula objective?
------------------ -Remember: The only good Voinian, is a dead Voinian
Well, I'm still struggling with my own personal pennance... using nothing but Shuttlecraft and Krait. I actually had to 'upgrade' back to my shuttlecraft, because I found I couldn't do a damn thing with the Krait. It only has a two jump range and no cargo capacity whatsoever. I have yet to find a planet which sells cargo bay expansions, that I can reach within my puny range. I would have managed it, but purchasing the Krait wiped out my cash reserves so I couldn't get a scoop. When you have no cargo space at all, building up your cash is very hard.
In my Krait I hyperspaced one time, and my jump path took me through a firefight. They weren't even shooting at me, and it took my shields down to 2%! This in a ship without armour... trust me, and trust your instincts: the Krait is a very, very bad ship indeed.
More from Captain Singleton soon!

The Nebula objective involves exploring both the Proxima and Ji Nebulae. I don't want to spoil it, but I'll tell you the government involved is the Miranu.
Monty Pythoning is getting just out of weapons range of a ship chasing you, matching their speed, and opening fire. That way you are constantly hitting them while they don't even shoot.
VA- You bought a KRAIT?! And I thought strict play was crazy. None of us has anything to prove, stick to the UE or Crescent Fighter.

I'm not playing strict... not that it would have made any difference, since I haven't been shot down yet. But yeah... I'm trying to see if a Krait can, with enough investment, be turned into a decent ship. The biggest problem is equipment space; you have to sacrifice fifteen tons to get yourself a cargo bay. Then there's the 2-jump range... sigh Good luck, people!
Hehe, a Krait. I was thinking of buying a Krait on my Crew of One pilot, but I know I wanted to complete it.
I'll bet that thing is fun to fly around. Not fun to do anything else. Am I right?
BTW, is it REALLY cramped inside?
Hmm I think you'd want to go do the Zidagar missions really soon - although a systems upgrade might not even be enough to 'decentify' it!
------------------
I don't think I'll say no to Monty Pythoning, because I'm seriously not that good of a pilot. BTW, I just had a great brainwave. With the strands, join the Igadzra. Then disable and board a zidagar fighter and use it for your ship!!! It's the only way to get a zidagar fighter, and they're GOOD, especially with those phased beamers.
Challenge accepted: -crew of one -no escorts -strict play -play w/ Igadzra
Actually, I'm changing my challenge. I'm going to play with the Zidagar, because then I can equip a phased beamer on a souped up UE fighter.
-crew of one -no escorts -strict play -Play w/ zidagar
Capturing a Ziddy fighter... they never disable (as far as I know) so how are you going to acquire one by underhanded means?
If you could capture one while working for the Igadzra, it would end up with a plasma siphon as well as a phased beam. Wow... almost a half-decent ship! You'd be permanently short of fuel, though.
Good luck, Captain...
For tips with a fighter, roll back a couple of pages to my Tactics: Message any good ones topic. It includes that trick mentioned with a CW using shield recharge, and it works agaisnt anyone without rockets.

Progress Update:
2/3 Done with this challenge, I have just completed the UE Central Objective. I also have completed the Strand Central Objective. Off to the Miranu I go! Read about a few battles I experienced in MOPAA 2
I was wondering, what is the central strand objective, and how the heck do you get it? And while I'm at it, what is the UE central objective? I've got about 3-4 mission strings I know about to go before I'm lost again, and I would like to do something big. If someone could list all the major mission strings somewhere, I'd be grateful.
I upgraded my Scoutship to an Arada recently. Slightly harder to put on the modifications to make the seats recline, but putting on the drink holders was easy. By the way, anyone know what any of the alien races actually look like? Or why none of them seem to care about you until you wander into a bar? You'd think first contact would be slightly more dramatic.
Anyway, best of luck to all you loners out there. I suggest you stop by the "nightclub" on Telnan. It's a few miles from the spaceport, due west. It's the perfect spot to go after being alone in space for months.
Good fortune, Slinky.

Come on, Beefpile, I'm rootin' for ya! I hope SOMEONE else finishes soon, because I'm beginning to worry that I play this game far too much, if such a thing is possible.

Okay, I've started up! Executor 30-day trial reset :). In the first session I attempted to try a pilot on strict play, which I've never done before - I lasted about 10 minutes before realising I should really have put an escape pod on my shuttle....!
So I started a non-strict one, under the name Dashy Ripper.. an obvious ripoff! He now pilots a Krait, called Crate, which has just the 1 blaze cannon aboard, along with 2 cargo expansions and the usual weightless items. It's a scary ship to fly - especially when it takes several attempts just to leave the Iothe system in one piece :).
Anyway, Dashy has rescued the Voinian defector, in a shuttle earlier on. He has almost finished the Paaren Station missions, and is not looking forward to the rescue mission at its end! In the meantime he has been to see the Miranu, which almost lost him the game - with only 2+1 jumps of fuel to play with he very nearly ran out of credits on the way back to UE space! But that passed, and FE even felt that he could be trusted with some of their cargo bound for Outpost Gamma, on his return! This in turn led to the offer of missions to help destroy munitions convoys belonging to the Voinians - in the Obron system - of which Dashy has so far survived one.. only having to take on one Interceptor and a disabled Supply Ship. The Interceptor did in fact get a rocket into the Crate, which should really have been its last - but it sat at 0% armour and didn't burst into flames. It also didn't start recharging - 0% armour = 100% armour for a Krait so it couldn't reactivate the shields. This didn't go down too well with the crew (of 1) but with a little fuel from a passing UE Destroyer, and a little more from a disabled UE Fighter, the ship made its path back to Outpost Gamma and Dashy received a nice reward, extensive ship repairs and another mission to Obron, which he'll likely take on tomorrow. 11:30pm here.. and it's nice to be back :)!
(quote)Originally posted by StarStrafer: **By the way, where do you get the reclining seats? I got the cup holders, the child safety seat and the CD changer (wasn't cheap, though) but I can't seem to find the recliner upgrade (I bet it's Miranu).;). If you really want that, look around the northern Miranu spaceports for a scoutship with "Wolverine II" engraved into the hull. I may upgrade to a more beefy ship sometime soon (having 10M comes in handy).
By the way, the dominating thing does work. The defence fleets only go for you, not your escorts. I took control of the renegade base near South Tip Station. Could someone explain how bounty hunters managed to follow me into the Ji Nebula?
And no, I'm not participating in the Crew of One challenge. As soon as I made enough for a scoutship, I headed back to Earth to pick up my darling Kinandra. She's my life-long companion, and I couldn't leave her behind for long. We've spent many a night drifting in deep space together, and I wouldn't trade that for any amount of glory or credits.
Good fortune, Slinky
P.S: At that "nightclub" I told you all about, ask for Leetah
