Welcome, Jade.
I am giving you access to all our techs, and our cool green paint for the aradas. I am also giving you a small base on raigar (This will be a shared system, but everyone thinks it's just azd). I "suggest" that you sttack our enemies in the north, hit and fades against strategic targets. You are, however, free to move about if you wish, as long as you do not approacg the meagh system. I cannot tell you why.

If that would happen to be the convoy the Odine stole from the Igadzra, it self-destructed, remember (see my post in the last page of the first "Reign of Chaos" message if you don't). If not, I don't see why the Miranu would have access to Voinian technology...

The various components of the IAS Triad near completion, the Phase Cloak now fitted, with just the supports and various weapons needing to be fitted. The armour cage is almost nearly ready, just waiting delivery of Igadzra turreted beams. The 3 long spines are now fitted, and are being intergrated fully, with extra buckyball armour coating them, and armour plates filling the gaps between them. Shield generators are being installed, with a full range of systems.

Work on singularity power plants for general use continues.

Research is started on a new fighter to take advantage of the new technology. It will be about twice the size of a UE fighter, using gravitonic engines, and intergrated gravitonic beams and mine layers.

Suddenly a convoy of Igadzra vessels entered the IA headquarters sysetm. They hailed the station,

"Hello Igadzra vessels," came the response, "why are you here?"

"We recieved your message requesting access to our turretted beam technology. We have the schematics on board, as well as half a dozen working models. We request permission to dock and deliver them to you. We'd also like to give the Voinians access to the design through the Technology Exchange."

-----------------

Work on the Igadzra Destroyer continued, accellerating due to the fact that the renegades had now been completely eliminated. Here are preliminary specifications (subject to minor change):

Speed: 300
Accel: 400
Shields (EVO scale): 275
Armor (EVO scale): 175
Weapons:
1 Phase turret
2 Neutron turrets (designs provided by Voinians through technology exchange)
2 Swivel Phase cannons
1 Meteor Missile launcher / 25 missiles or 1 SAE launcher / 40 SAE modules (alternate configurations)
1 turretted beam

Crew: 45
Other: Semi-fast hyperjump

Thunder, Igadzra have access to Neutron/Blaze weaponry. It is much better than either Neutron or Phase weaponry. Use them instead. Much better in a fight.

--The Eye is Upon you--
If you look long enough the Sun isn't that bright.

The IAS Triad is now complete. It is 14.3km long, 6km in diameter at the rear, 2 km in diameter at the front, and 18.6km long, 7.8km in diameter at the rear, 3.2km in diameter at the front with the armour cage outfitted on it. Each main spine has multiple shield generators outfitted, Neutron/Blaze turrets, Igadzra Turreted Beams, multiple launchers for Meteor Missles, SAEs, and RIMs. All weapons are in slightly recessesed slots, that can retract when needed, specifically when the armour cage is in place. The outer parts of them are heavily armoured, as are the massive armour plates between each spine, which are spotted with shield generators. Its main weapon is the singularity beam. This can be tuned from a quantum level beam, up to a beam 1km in diamter. At the smallest level beam, it can go straight through shields and armour, but being at the quantum level, it does not damage much. It can be useful to destroy or disable components neccessary for other ships to function. It also only goes the same distance as a phase beam. The biggest level, 1km in diameter, can only be obtained when all power is diverted from the engines. The usual biggest size is 500m in diameter. It has a great range, but power tapers off near the end of the beam. The damage is great, and can pulverise almost anything. The best defense against the beam is to stay out of its way.
The IAS Triad uses powerful gravitonic engines, which allow it great maneuverability, far better than any UE Omega class ship, and better than smaller warships in general. A side effect of the gravitonic engines are various gravitonic weapons. The primary ability is a form of tractor beam, which slows ships down, and impeeds their ability to escape. The secondary ability is gravitonic lances, which are best used against armour, their effectivness against shields not great. The tertiary ability is causing warps in space, allowing hyperspace to be entered extremely quickly. A minor ability is hiding the ships mass, so that mass detectors either think it is a much smaller ship, or hardly even their.
The IAS Traid has a Phase Cloak, which shifts the ship out of local space-time, undetectable by normal cloak detectors(and no one can make a detector till they see the cloak in action.) Gravitonic engines must shut down for 3 seconds before being used(they do work once the ship is shifted). The Singularity beam has to shut down for 3 seconds also before shifting. The energies needed are massive.

The armour cage is several components, made to fit snugly to the IAS Triads primary hull, and provide much greater protection. It has more conventional weaponry than the IAS Triads primary hull has. However, due to its massive bulk of armour(larger than that of the IAS Triads primary hull), speed is cut to only a bit above the UE Omega ships. Refinement of the engines is expected to improve this.
-------------
At IA HQ:
The IAS Triad orbits IA HQ, and activates its phase cloak. It vanishes from all sensors, its orders to scout enemy space.

OOC: Remember everyone, this will be the only copy of this ship, and that the IA lost a planet and station(an IA station that is) to get this. It is extremely powerful, but it does have weaknesses. What they are, I'm not going to say. However, its systems arent up to full strength yet, and they wont be till after its first battle. Where should be attacked I'm not sure. do have a slight idea though...

RMA

------------------

A note about the Heligun - About 1.75 the range of phase cannons, and they fire ultra
fast.

Arada Pilot, I'm certainly considering granting your request, but I still think that
since the U.E.S Hades was due to be out on my next post that it would have shields,
or its cloaking device - one or the other must have been completed, otherwise there
would be more than 1 post left before it was done.

Also, the U.E.S Hades is of extreme importance to the UE. How about - COMPROMISE HERE - we
say it was destroyed, but that the Tractor Beam was rescued, as was some small part of
the metal, as well as the metal not yet put on?

--------------------

The U.E.S Paladin returns to UE space and meets the U.E.S Excalibur. The U.E.S Hades
operation has been stopped, but 4 fleets of 100 UE Fighters armed with
Hirogen Blazes are on standby. Similarly, 80 UE Cruisers are ready to move any way, and
more ships of both kind are patrolling about UE space.

Each group of UE Fighters with Hirogen Blazes has a massive potential in battle. It takes
about 6 to destroy most warships, and they can cause more devastation than any other
fighter around <I think, unless anyone else has specifically improved their fighters>.

---------------------

The Heligun has another prototype available, this one using limited Pheragin crystals and
a rushed launcher. It is fired against a UE Cruiser - the cruiser charges at the station
that is armed with it <the Heligun is big> and is knocked back before it gets within
weapons range. The cruiser fires a 5 hunter missiles, and all are destroyed in rapid
succession before hitting the station, although the weak launcher seems like 10 missiles would be enough to get past - the launcher must be made stronger. This depletes the limited Pheragin crystals, but more are being grown quickly, at a rate of about 750 per post.

-----------------------

The UE stand ready, with STS arrays and cloak detectors around for protection and several
large battlegroups on standby. More UE Fighters and UE Cruisers are being produced at the
same time as the U.E.S Hades.

Once the following is ready the UE will consider attacking:
6 Raiding Squadrons, each with 125 UE Fighters in
3 Battlesquads, each with 75 UE Cruisers in, and 2 UE Fighter to each Cruiser not including fighters
The U.E.S Paladin and U.E.S Excalibur

-----------------------------
IMPORTANT!
The U.E.S Paladin has been fitted with the Hades' Tractor Beam, and will now take it's
place. Future plans for large ships include 6 Alpha vessels, and work on them will begin
soon. Alpha warships will be 2.5km long each, and will be armed with Heliguns.

Omega ships will also have Heliguns.

"I have a planet now?" Jade asked.
"Yes." the Azdgari answered.
"I shall continue work on the Seiken Aradas then. And perhaps a Seiken Azdara too."
"We will provide anything you need."
"Good, then I have one request."
"Yes?"
"A sandwich."

I don't what green ships. I want white ships - totally white, glimmering white ships.
That is the nature of Seiken vessels, that they are perfectly white, and shine.

And tell Samurai about me. He scanned my ships a while back. I considered having my
people blast him apart, but then I realised he was Odine.

Don't push me about the Odine. Tell them that if they harass me or my ships I'll
shoot them - simple as that.

And the Seiken Aradas are getting along well, and I'll begin work on Seiken Azdaras.
May I take 10 Azdaras from Raigar, which will fill the ASS Beatrix's bay up, as it
has room for 10 more?

Jade out.

--------------------------

2 more Seiken Aradas are ready, and some new advancements are being looked into:

Seiken Azdaras - faster, armed with a tiny Shock weapon and Seiken cannons when the
cannons are ready.
Seiken Cannon/Turret - phase range but more powerful, isn't as bad against armour.
Energy Ray - supplies target with shielding by sucking up fuel, can be used back and
forth without any shield loss between two ships. On Seiken Aradas and ASS Beatrix.

Note about Shock, Shock Break:
Equally effective against armour

-------------------------

2 of my Azdaras scout out the outlines of IA and Voinian space. They are attacked by
an IA Light Cruiser, as expected, but the ASS Beatix is waiting in the background for
it to come along.

"Move in. Shock - use shield energy again, and then break it down with phase cannons."

The ASS Beatrix charges forward, smashing the Light Cruiser with a fully powered Shock.
The target fires a couple of Neutron/Blaze shots, and then gets smashed with a Shock.
The shields on the ASS Beatrix instantly go back up again, and then a spur of the moment
command from Jade makes the ASS Beatrix use Seiken, and the ship remains frozen while
the Azdaras and the ASS Beatrix pummel it away.

PS: I'm assuming that a light cruiser is about the same size as a normal cruiser. Is
this true, or is it several km long?

Now stocked are over 5000 Pheragin crystals, and the growth rate is going up in a
typical explosive graph, with the growth rate already at 2000 a post.

The Heligun itself is complete. The first is placed in the U.E.S Paladin, and another
is quickly being built for the U.E.S Excalibur. The main part is not making the huge
cannons called Heliguns, but making the ammo. Each Omega ship needs about 15,000 each
to last for any good length of time.

Also, 25 new UE Fighters have been created, and 5 UE Cruisers, both of which will go to
the new battlefleets on standby.

---------------------

Economy status: Despite the U.E.S Hade's destruction, the UE are beginning to increase
their wealth from low to medium. The new ships are costing 1/2 of the money being made
spare, and the second Heligun is taking 1/3. Once the Heligun is complete, work on more
military forces will increase to 3/4 for a while until the first two Alpha ships begin.

Estimate of 1-2 posts for the second Heligun, and just so you know:
Every post 15 UE Fighters and 2 Cruisers are done on average. This time was a fluke.
2000 Pheragin crystals have been constructed in this post, and it will go up like this:
2000-2500-3250-4500-6000-9000-14000
After reaching 14,000 made per post the plants will have covered both Omega ships and
there will be no more room for expansion. At this point running out of ammo for the
Heligun will be nearly impossible. Also, this figure is shared between both Omega warships.

PS: Lots of Heligun ammo is expanded quickly. In a large battle as many as 10,000 may
be used per Omega/Alpha ship. Alpha ships reach max capacity at producing 4000 crystals
a day.

With the new base, Seiken Aradas are created very quickly.

10 are now functional. Work on the Seiken Azdara is going smoothly.

The Energy Transfer Beam (ETB) is not going so smoothly. It ends up working as a weapon,
as the target ship needs a special device called a Recipient Transfer Mobule (RTM) or
the beam will do damage. RTM's will take some time to build a prototype, and then can
be placed on all of my ships, as well as Azdgari and Odine ships.

-------------------------

The ASS Beatrix moves through Priat briefly. It destroys a couple of ships, including
freighters, steals about 100,000 credits, and then disappears before anyone can organise
themselves to fight back.

Well well well. You think that metal is usable? anything you found drifting in the wreckage is antimatter. (We used tachyon beams). Of course, you still have the unused materials, and the plans (you could use the materials to build a new beam).
Or, we could negotiate, and say that your ship was destroyed and we retreated and your ships gathered parts of the wreckage before conversion to antimatter (The whole ship would be consumed in a few minutes), but then I'd still have my viper, wouldnt I.

We have a new ally. it is jade, a skilled captain with much to offer. I am sending both of you the comm frequencies for each other so you can communicate.

New tech: Jade's sandwich
reload: 3 times per day
fires breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
tastes good.
Does 10 damage to throat if you don't like spicy food.

I send the prototype of the above weapon, with a chef, to jades base.

Sure, keep your Viper. You could do with it anyway.

All I want is the tractor beam. I don't care about the material, as much of that
wasn't even put on. Well, the hull metal was, but the actual armouring wasn't.

The second Heligun is completed. Work on the 2 Alpha warships has begun:
U.E.S Herione
U.E.S Climhazzard

It should take a while to have both ready.

15 Seiken Aradas completed now.
Energy Transfer Beam is starting to get along.
Work on the first Seiken Azdara is 1/2 complete.

And that joke about sandwiches wasn't funny!

Oh, KIWA, is it? Our game needs a MIRANU player - I heard Taylor was playing but he,
well, isn't. Someone needs to defend against my raids, otherwise they aren't any fun.

A Light Cruiser is about 100m long, and has all the latest IA tech. That includes the energy sheath, and buckyball armour. Buckyball armour would reduce the effectiveness of your seiken attack, and if it was needed, the energy sheaf would be activated, effectively stopping any attacks for several seconds. And as your attack needs time to recharge, it'd be able to put up an okay fight. Wouldnt win, but it'd be able to do some damage to your ships. And IA Light cruisers would never travel on their own, too dangerous and silly in this galaxy. You dont have to change your attack, but remember for the future.
The Light cruiser will probably be upgraded to carry a Turret Beam soon.
-------------
Research is now being done on a new IA fighter, and now also a much larger version of the Light Cruiser, to provide more backup for the IAS Triad, and possibly carry the new fighters. The fighter should be done soon(tommorrow), and the new Heavy Cruiser should be done some time after. It will about about 1.2-1.5km long. It will incorporate several components, with addon shells similar to the armour cage for the IAS Triad.
The Energy Deployment Field group, carrying on from its partial success with the Energy Sheath, starts research into using energy fields to increase the strength and durability of armour.

RMA

------------------

(This message has been edited by RMA (edited 03-30-2001).)

The first two Alpha warships - the Herione and the Climhazzard, are getting on
smoothly, if not with haste. Meanwhile, two projects are being looked into:

1. Increasing the Heligun's range <it was designed to outrange any other primary
weapon, but I have recently discovered that IA weapons are nearly 3 times the range
of normal ones, so the Heligun will be increased to marginally longer range>

2. StarLances - Large, torpedoes that cause heavy damage but aren't energy type. They
are cluster weapons, hitting with 1 large impact, then 10 smaller, then 100 even
smaller, and finishing in nanoscopic explosions that tear apart complex structures of
material. StarLances cause a lot of damage, much more than any previous UE secondary
weapon. STS missiles have a long range, but they lack power. StarLances also have
a fairly long range, about 4 times the range of hunter missiles, and they are fast.
The main problem with them is a slow turning rate and slight inaccuration in the
direction it fires.

StarLance will be fitted on all UE Cruisers, raising their overall strength considerably.
Omega warships WON'T have them, as they have now been filled to capacity, but Alpha
ships WILL.

---------------------

A scientist who isn't entirely sane looks into an idea for a new ship - many asteroids
latched together to create a total length of 30km. A hollow area inside would be the
living areas, and it would disable enemies, use biological weapons to kill off the crew
and then use a grappling hook to steal it's weapons. Thus, it would collect weapons
from enemies as it went.

The ship, A.K.A the U.E.S Armageddon, would be able to hold as many as 100 turrets.

The design, however, is so extravagant that the Ultima Project would have to be cancelled
to build it, and it would be tremendously slow. However, the armour rating would be out
of this world.

"Go stick your head in a toilet." Paladin replies to the idea. "But leave the idea on
my desk - in a month or two it MIGHT become interesting as a defence."

The Z.S.S. Gryphon was coming along well. The new fighters were wide spread and very popular.Half of the ZIdaras had traded in The Zidgar fighter bay for the Humrugar bay.The scientist were working hard to make sure the shields and armor fit On the Z.S.S.Gryphon.She had decided to call that class of ships Zidkasra. When she started building more she would give them only to the best pilots that she trusted. She thought about buildind one for the U.E. to keep. And maybe one for the mIranu too.

ENCRYPTED MESSAGE TO RIMA
I've heard about your work on the Z.S.S Gryphon. It sounds like it's a powerful ship.

Once the StarLances have been completed, would you like them on your ship? They're
non-energy weapons for the most part, and are very powerful - marginally less powerful
than phased rockets, but they can fit on your ship, and have an exceptional range and
speed, but lack slightly in turning.

StarLances don't have conventional launchers. Each one has it's own propulsion,
guidance and AI system. If you change the shielding to go around them, they'll also
be protected while they are lined up on your ship's belly.

Paladin out.

-----------------------------------

Paladin considers his next step. More UE ships are being produced, StarLances are
getting on well enough, and the Herione and Climhazzard are 1/4 - 1/3 complete.

He watches on a screen as he sees what would happen in a fight between the UE and
various other races. The fight portrayed is between 20 UE Cruisers and 20 Voinian
Cruisers. Paladin watches intently/

The UE Cruisers have blaze weapons, but the Voinian ships have many upgraded features.
The UE Cruisers DO have StarLances (on the game) and also some borrowed phased rocket launchers, though.

The Voinians are hit hard by StarLances, and later on phaed rockets, but they still excel
at close range. In the end the UE ships explode and the StarLances that are flying around
finish the Voinians off.

"And the Voinians are no doubt even stronger than that in real life......." Paladin mutters. "The StarLance won't be enough - we need to replace the blaze cannon......"

20 Seiken Aradas are now combat ready.
The first Seiken Azdara is ready, converted from Jade's old group of Azdaras, and
more will soon be converted.
The ASS Jade Dragon, Jade's former personal ship, is being coloured white and will
be equipped with StQ systems to make it a Seiken Warship.
Work on the Energy Transfer Beam: Almost complete. Will be done on next turn. Turns
out to be larger than first thought, and will be placed on the ASS Jade Dragon and
ASS Beatrix. Together they will be able to provide support to each other and all
other Seiken ships, and Azdgari/Odine ships too when all is ready.

----------------------

Jade considers some things. She decides she needs a proper base of operations. Then
she remembers F-25. It was a good place for a while.

She decides to continue raiding the Miranu and steal money and Aradas+Crescent Warships.. Once she has enough Seiken ships it will be easy to colonise F-25.

She decides, upon doing that, to remain to Alexandria.

---------------------
encrypted message to Arada Pilot

I plan to set up in the F-25 system once I have about 40 Seiken Aradas, 5 Seiken Warships and about 80 Seiken Azdaras in total. That's 20 more Aradas, 4 more warships and 14 more
Azdaras. I'm sending you the money for 14 Azdaras - I wouldn't want to keep on asking you
for more.

I will rename the place Alexandria for the duration of my stay there.

-----------------------

Jade also considers the Shock attack. It's an energy weapon, but it has potential for
something else. She realises that the force it hits with can be used to launch a matter
based projectile........

NOTE: Seiken vessels use StQ systems as secondary weapons, but they STILL HAVE PHASE
WEAPONS. So they don't constantly have to wait to reload.
