Reign of Chaos - New RPG

BattleDoctor's convoy of Supply Ships and Frigates arrives at IA HQ with all technologies requested by the IA (armor, neutron, meteors). The captain in charge of the fleet gets promoted to admiral and becomes the new ambassador to the Imperium Alliance. He has this message with him on his datapad:

<message, light encryption>
To: RMA, IA and Thunder, Igadzra
From: BattleDoctor, Voinian
(Greetings, Imperium Alliance. Here are the requested technologies. If you accept, we look forward to forming a technology exchange with you. And to the Igadzra: We look forward to the completion of the turreted beam. If it is finished in time, I may have a use for it.)

Time to finish up the outfitting on the Odine Viper. 18 more Ion Turrets have been added, giving it thirty total. Another Tachyon Laser has been added, giving it three.

An Odine Council of war is being held.
"Greetings, my good comrades. As you are aware, everyone in the entire galaxy has assumed a position against us, except for our friends the Azdgari. Their number is great, but they are not so technologically advanced as the mighty Odine. We must strike, whilst we have the advantage!"
"But it would be foolhardy to meet so great a foe head on, even with our newly built supercruiser. We must be like the Shadow, staying in front, or behind, but never on top. We will capture or destroy their supply Convoys, harry their warfleets, and raid their planets. We will use our cloaking to our advantage, to gain tactically advantageous positions in combat, and to retreat if there are too many enemy ships."
"Go now, my good comrades. Our first target will be the Igadzra. prepare your vessels."

Work on the V.E.S. Voinia in the Isled system is going well. It is more than halfway completed now. Once completed, tests will begin, but due to the lack of enemies close to the Voinian Empire and the need for resources, tests may not be very thorough. When the V.E.S. Voinia is complete another ship very similar to it is scheduled to be built.

---------------------------------------

Scientists are having a bit of trouble with the new space mines. They can't figure out where the engines should be positioned, and what kind of engines to use.

---------------------------------------

An accident has occured in the Pokoren system. While bringing supplies to the station, a ship accidentally hit one of the mines. The ship was destroyed, and the project foreman's ship (which was very nearby) was heavily damaged. Construction will continue, but a new power system (what the ship was carrying) will have to be shipped in from Durala.

--------------------------------------

Igazra and IA technology has begun to be integrated into the Voinian fleet. Retrofitting efforts have just begun, but they are progressing quickly because at the moment we are only integrating shields onto most of our ships. Most, but not all, new warships will have the new shields implemented on them. The V.E.S. Kelmaon is currently being refitted with new shields, and it has been set up to be able to accomodate different turret systems.

A military official entered Thunder's office bringing a report. "Prime Minister? I have a report containing important information on military projects."

"Thank you, commander." Thunder replied, taking the report. As the commander left, Thunder began reading. The report went as follows:

--Secret Igadzra Military Communique
--From: Heads of military technological development and military technological research
--To: Prime Minister Thunder

We are happy to report, Prime Minister, that the designs for Voinian Armor and Meteor missiles are compatible with our systems, and have been integrated onto about 25% of our fleet, with retrofitting continuing as quickly as we can. The armor amounts to around 275 units on Igazras and 40 units on Igadzra aradas. All new ships will be built with the systems as standard.

The base on Reban IV is now complete; we have a research facility and a training base safely concealed in caves beneath the surface, as well as a small settlement on the surface to provide supplies and support for the subterranian facilities.

Development on the Turreted Beam is progressing quickly, we expect to have a working prototype within the week. The plasma siphon is a different matter; it's more difficult that we expected to make this theory a reality. Expect major delays with this project.

We have not yet heard back from our diplomats sent to the IA, though commerce with IA ships in our space has increased greatly since the alliance was formed. It seems our civilian population is almost enjoying this opportunity to come out of isolation a little bit.

But though you may find this slightly macabre,
We prefer your extinction to the loss of our job."

Sorry I've been away.

The Verahl crystal was a failure, but I'm going to rush the following posts together
as I was away.

--------------------
The U.E.S Excalibur, 10 km long, is now complete, with the Dark Matter Launcher.

I'm half way through the U.E.S Hades. 9km long, which is heavily armed with phased
beamers, phased rockets, and STS missiles, as well as a huge number of phase turrets. It
also has a VERY powerful tractor beam, capable of stopping the enemy from moving much at
all.

Within a day the three ship will have a total length of 33km. 🙂

I have made these technologies:

Dark Matter Launcher
Launches a sphere of dark matter forward. The dark matter travels about twice the distance of a phase cannon without any guidance, deleting anything that it passes from the universe, and indeed deletes the universe itself in that place. The sphere is two kilometres across, and after travelling some distance it apparently collapses, to form a black hole after a few hours. The Dark Matter Launcher takes one game week to recharge, the equivalent of two or three posts.

----------------------------
ENCRYPTED MESSAGE TO RIMA
What's the situation, to put it briefly?

The U.E.S Excalibur is combat ready, as are the STS launcher arrays on all UE planets.
This will give the planets an added power - there wasn't enough room on any stations.

Once the U.E.S Hades is ready I'll come up to Zidagar, take back the U.E.S Paladin, and
fight the Odine in the shadows with STSs. And if they assualt with their most powerful
ships I'll hit them with the Dark Matter Launcher and incinerate them - a weapon they
don't know about at all. 🙂

----------------------------

REMEMBER, THE VERAHL CRYSTAL WAS A FAILURE!!!!

----------------------------

The 4 UE Supercruisers are capable of incredible hit and run tactics. They use excellent
cloaking devices, and as a reminder can detect all but Odine cloaks. And the Hades will
be ready in a while.

Together they have a massive number ofphase turrets, and some of them use other weapons:

ALL HAVE STS MISSILES, WHICH ARE VERY FAST MOVING
THE U.E.S EXCALIBUR HAS THE DARK MATTER LAUNCHER, WHICH CANNOT BE DEFENDED AGAINST, BUT
TAKES AT LEAST TWO POSTS TO RELOAD
THE U.E.S HADES <incomplete> HAS A TRACTOR BEAM THAT HOLDS ENEMIES IN PLACE. 🙂 - tractor,
and then use Dark Matter! 🙂

----------------------------

BATTLEDOCTOR: Lately we haven't been fighting. Absolutely no money of mine has gone
into new ships - it has all gone into these supercruisers.

I've stripped the UE worlds almost bear, too. We have almost no money left. 🙂
We can just about afford the U.E.S Hades, and then we're in trouble. The UE will have
to sit back, keep their Supercruisers out of serious trouble, and work on their money
situation. Also, body parts from UE Carriers and Destroyers have been used - we have
almost none of these ships left, as they have all been scrapped for Supercruisers or
normal UE Cruisers.

SO NO-ONE GO SAYING THAT WE HAVE CARRIERS AND FIGHTERS! ALL THE UE USE NOW ARE UE
CRUISERS, UE FIGHTERS, AND THE SUPERCRUISERS. SOON ENOUGH WE WILL DESIGN UE ARTILLERY
WITH STS LAUNCHERS, BUT FIRST WE NEED MONEY!!!!!!!!!!1

To: Paladin, UE
From: BattleDoctor, Voinian
(You are well aware that we have made a non-agression pact. I am wondering how much cooperation between us there will be on certain matters, since we are not fighting. Apparently, Odine agression has picked up considerably recently. The Igadzra have already had a few groups of ships destroyed. If the mighty Igadzra are coming under fire, anyone could. It could be your people next. Or mine. Thus, I need to know how much cooperation I can expect from you and your allies in ridding this galaxy of the Odine threat. Please repond in a timely manner.)

----------------------------------------

The designs for the new fighter class are complete. The new fighters will larger than any existing Voinian fighters, but they will still be able to be carried shipboard. They will use the extra room on them to improve in every way. They will be faster and more maneuverable, about as much so as the UE Fighter. They will have relatively weak armor, but strong shields. At the moment, they will only carry cannons, but secondaries may be added later. These craft will be known as Heavy Fighter Mk.2's.

---------------------------------------

The design for the V.E.S. Voinia has been upgraded considerably.

--------------------------------------

Okay, Paladin, I have a problem with all these supercruisers you are building. You are building them way too fast, and you couldn't possibly have the resources to build 4 in a row like that. I think it is unfair that you get to do that, and I think others will agree that you are making these ships far too fast.

Sorry, Battledoctor.

Henceforth the U.E.S Apollo doesn't exist, and the U.E.S Hades is further behind
in construction.

But remember - the Supercruisers are stronger than Dreadnoughts quite a bit. The
V.S.S Voinia is probably on equal footing with it.

ENCRYPTED MESSAGE TO ALL NON-VIOLENT PARTIES
All of you can trust me completely. I am also considering making the following
agreement:

I will not see any of my UE vessels engage the IA until the Azdgari and Odine are
as dust. After that, we ALL agree to see our forces home before we disengage the
treaty.

Fair?

ALSO, AN IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL PLAYERS AND INDEPENDANT VIEWERS:

WHEN THESE FORUMS BECOME LARGE, IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO DO ANYTHING, SO I'M
STARTING A NEW FORUM ON THIS TO MAKE LOOKING AROUND EASIER.

Also, the UE have 2 Supercruisers now, with the non-existance of the U.E.S Apollo.

The U.E.S Hades is being planned, and the tractor beam is 33% complete. The actual
ship is 0% complete, but ore is being mined for it.

Now that Voinian technology has been recieved, new projects can be begun.

Researchers of the weaponry devision start to look into ways of improving the neutron technology, as it has a higher base rate of damage than blaze tech. Initial studies show great promise.

The Energy & Mass defense division is looking into layering Voinian armour with buckyballs, in an attempt to increase energy absorbtion and explusion. It is working with the Energy Deployment Field group on other methods also.

The Energy Deployment Field group is meeting with great success, and a prototype is currently being made, and will be tested soon, when the first light cruiser comes off the production line.

Construction is now finished on the 2 half-spheres, and they are being moved to the DSN-4846 system.

Work is proceding very well on new methods of cloaking, and a prototype is being tested on my personal ship, along with several new technologies.

Work on intergrating and improving SAE guidance system began as soon as the Igadzra arrived and exchanged their technology. Elements of pursuit missle systems, and Zidagar ECM modules where just part of the upgrading. The new SAE modules now work flawlessly in nebulas, and are almost impervious to jamming. IA allies are advised not to use this technology until it is desperately needed, so that a bigger advantage is given. Modules being sent out are fitted with a simple switch that is set on firing, so that the guidance system can be dumbed down.

The Voinians are given the plans for the Spacemine railgun launcher, in the hope that it can be modified to be used with the new Spacebombs. It launches them at collosal speed, demolishing anything it hits, by kinetic impact, as well as explosives.

The size of Tachyon sensors has been massively reduced, as well as the power output, but the time-difference has been reduced to nano-seconds. Tachyon Sensors can now be fitted on ships with sufficient power supply, but the bulk of the mainline IA fleet can not fit them, as the powerplants are outdated, and outmoded by new power production methods invented by the IA. It has been decided that it will be better to simply build new fleets, with upgraded systems, instead of upgarding obselete relics from the UE era.

IA fleets and stations are already refitted with technology gained from its new allies, although full intergration of Voinian armour has been held off until experiments are completed.

In other news F-9397 has had to be evacuated, due to a series of mishaps. The IA station is being moved away from the planet to ensure its safety.

The quantities of Phase crystal the IA has in its posession are greatly reduced, and it will soon run out.

<encryption level beta 6*>
To: BattleDoctor & Thunder
Intergration of technology is going well. I have set aside a full quadrant of IA HQ for anything that may need to go on between us. Half the area is still locked down however, due to the explosion that happened, as well as continuing experiments. You will be informed of the the nature of these expermients very soon, but first several procedures must be carried out.
An extremely cut down version of the tachyon has been produced, and it is possible to outfit it to your larger stations and bases, and possibly any supercruisers you may be building.
However, I must ask for access to resources you both have, as currently the IA lacks access to any great quantities of material. We can not build new ships without canabilizing our current ships, and that ensures failure in the long-term.

Soon we will have new technolgies availible to us, like nothing else their is. Prepare your fleets for changes.

<end message>

OOC:Remember all, unless you happen to be an IA ally, you wont know about any of this, except possibly the evacuation of the planet, as it may be obvious due to the large scale of it. Even IA allies are not breifed fully until research is completed on a subject. I just say everything so you dont go and accuse me of coming up with superweapons out of thin air cougheveryoneelseisdoingsocough.

An Odine raiding party sits cloaked in the Mark system. An Igadzra convoy of three Miranu Freighters hypers in, escorted by two Igazras and a few Aradas. The four Odine Destroyers uncloak and attack one of the Igazras, quickly disabling it. They procede to attack the next Igzara, but this one has Voinian armor! Eventually, they disable it as well, and procede to deal with the Igadzra Aradas. The Raiding party leader sends a message to the lead MF:

"Greetings. This convoy is now under Odine control. We have many ships in cloak around you. Cooperate, and you won't be pulverized. We're heading back to Azdgari space. Make one false move and we'll blow you to bits, got it?"

The Igadzra Captain nods.

The Odine continues: "Our teams have crewed the Igzara with armor. We'll be taking it along as well. We've cloaked it, of course. We'll be sending our agents aboard to make sure nothing funny happens, and to plot the course. Let's move."

Odine agents board the vessel, to discover that the Convoy was carrying Voinian armor kits and meteor missiles to help retrofit the Igadzra warfleet. They set course for Morin, to show the fruits of their raiding.

------------------
Macintosh for productivity, Linux for development, Palm for mobility, and Windows for Solitaire.

With the Igadzra crew safely stowed in the rear of the captured convoy ships, the Odine were confidently on their way back to show their prizes to the Azdgari. Suddenly a warning siren and flashing lights rang out on the bridge of the lead ship. Had they been able to check with the other ships in the captured convoy, they would find that this situation was occuring on every ship. Looking for an explanation, the odine searched through the sensor readouts, finally finding what they needed.

"Sir! The hyperspace core on this Igazra is undergoing a cascade reaction! It's going to explode!"

"What caused it? Can you override?"

"It came out of nowhere, sir. The Igadzra are a paranoid people, perhaps they set in an autodestruct mechanism in the event that the ship was captured! I can't override it; the computer core is completely locked out; the circuts are fried!"

"How long do we have?"

"By my calculations - about 45 seconds."

"Transfer the cargo to our ships! Hurry!"

"No time! The ship'll blow up before they even have a chance to dock! 35 seconds to explosion!"

"Then send a message to our cloaked ships! Tell them to get out of the blast radius!"

"No can do, sir. The communications array is fused solid. It's offline."

With no other choice, the Odine commander ordered his crew to the escape pods, but found that they refused to launch. The Igadzra sabotage program had completely disabled all ship systems. He could only look on, and wait for the inevitable...

Seconds passed; then the other Odine ships seemed to realize that something was wrong. If you could see through cloaks, you would see them desperately trying to evade the doomed convoy, but it was too late for most of them. In quick succession, the entire Igadzra convoy was destroyed in a massive fireball, vaporizing the Igadzra ships and all the technology on board. The Odine escorts were caught in the blast; three of them were destroyed, and nearly half of those remaining were disabled. The convoy gone and the captured technology lost, the Odine survivors limped off into hyperspace, with nothing to show for their raiding efforts.

----------

Thunder was saddened when he recieved the report of the loss of the convoy. Not only were more than a hundred Igadzra soldiers lost in the blast, but retrofitting of the Igadzra space fleet would be slowed by a week or more before those supplies could be replaced. After arranging for the Igadzra victims to be posthumously awarded the Igadzra Medallion of Valor (the highest honor any Igadzra could recieve, in life or in death), Thunder sent a message to his allies about the situation.

Message to Battledoctor, Voinian, and RMA, IA<<<

A rather disturbing event occured today; an cloaked Odine warfleet managed to make its way into the Mark system undetected and nearly managed to make off with a convoy contained shared Voinian technology. Luckily for us, one can never be too paranoid in these times, and Igadzra paranoia saved us today. The auto-sabotage systems (standard features on all Igadzra ships; will cause the ship to become inoperable and self-destruct in the event that it is captured. (OOC: I can explain how it works if necessary for the storyline.)) activated flawlessly, vaporizing all captured ships and dealing heavy casualties to their Odine captors.

Nevertheless, it is disturbing that Odine ships can slip through our space undetected. I propose we work together on a cloak detector, to detect the Odine ships when they enter our space. It will be difficult, but I think we can do it together. Also, I suggest that your governments work to install auto-sabotage systems on your vessels as well, to keep our technology from falling into the wrong hands. I will supply the designs for auto-sabotage systems through the technology exchange.

End Message<<<

On a brighter note, Thunder received word that work on the turreted beam had been completed and that the first prototype had worked well. It would now be integrated onto the various Igadzra ships, as quickly as the Igadzra scientists could.
