Then, suddenly, Carnotaur bursts into the room. "Carnotaur!" Nova6 exclaims. "What is it? What happened? You look terrified, have you slept at all last nigh?"
Carnotaur just sat down in a chair, and Lonevoinian came back in hearing the commotion (sp?). Then, Carnotaur spoke. "Remember how my parents were on Zidagar, and I was going to rescue them?"
Nova6 nodded.
"Well, Rooster got there first, and HE got THEM! Now he's holding them for ransom on board the Zodiac. However, he's only one person. If the Voinians, my two ships, the Azdgari, and the Renegade Alliance were to work together and attack the Zodiac, we would get them back. What do think?"
Nova6 responds...
--------------------
Meanwhile, the captain of the Specter, who was near the Azdgari system, was informed of the situation by Carnotaur, and decided to stop by Dames. Landing on the small moon, Captain Specter (easier than saying 'the captain of the specter') met with Arada Pilot. Since last time any of Carnotaurs captains had stopped by Dames, Arada Pilot had gotten a bunch of stuff, the Azdgari emporer was rather glad to see Captain Specter.
"Arada Pilot," he said first. "We have bad news. Rooster, who is allied with those filthy Kayan Alliance people, has captured Carnotaur's parents and is holding them ransom!"
"WHAT?!" Arada Pilot exclaimed.
"Yes, however, Carnotaur is hoping that both Daedalus and Nova6 will come and help disable the Zodiac, so they can rescue them, and now he wants your help. After all, we DID help you and Carnotaur's dad is a shipbuilder here. What do you say?"
Arada Pilot responds...
------------------------
P.S. Daedalus was also informed of the situation.

Carnotaur responds...

Carnotaur then simply turns around and looks at Lonevoinian. "Will you help me? You've got the biggest ship any in this galaxy has."
Lonevoinian responds...

No... In my post I said that there were four aradas docked at once. Also, here are quotes from my post about the battle:
Originally posted by Thunder: The station is rocked with phase cannon fire to disorient renegades on board as five of the Kayan aradas dock with the station, unloading large several contingients of Kayan Marines to take the station...
The first four aradas...rejoined Thunder and rooster, as four new aradas swept in to take their place and load up.
Those are direct quotes from my post. Five aradas dropped the marines off, and there were four there at all times that could evacuate them. That means that, at most, there would be one arada load of marines left. I would have rescued most (if not all) of those when I returned. That's why I think there should be no prisoners left, but as a compromise I offered the situation where most of the escaped or were rescued, and the few that were left ransomed their freedom for 80,000 credits.

Thunder is hailed by a Mercenary Crescent Warship.
"What do you want?" "Are you Thunder, the leader of the Kayan alliance?" "Yeah, that's me." "I heard you might need some extra guns, and I thought I'd offer my services." "What exactly are your services?" "Four Crescent Warships. And my ship, the Gunslinger." "How much?" "500,000 credits initially, and I keep any Renegade plunder I get my hands on. Deal?"
Thunder responds...
P.S. Sorry for jumping in, all.

"I accept. I will help you get your parents back no matter what. But do I get paid at all?" While waiting for Carno's answer, Lone radios his ship and tells them to get ready to depart.

Carnotaur smiles. "One point five MILLION credits. Now, we will go to Freeport. There, we will wait until I hear from Arada Pilot and Daedalus. When we get their help, then, I will tell you my plan. Now lets go!"
------------------
To Daedalus and Arada Pilot: I need to know whether or not you will help me get back Carnotaur's mom and dad immediately. Just in case you are wondering, both of you will be payed 1 million credits when we are finished. The reason I am giving Lonevoinian a bit more will become evident when I explain my plan.
(This message has been edited by Captain Carnotaur (edited 01-22-2001).)
"Yes. I have my ship warmed up." Lonevoinian then is transported to his ship, and starts pulling out of dock. Carno starts right after him, but is hopelessly left behind the speeding Voinian Dreadnaught.
A few days later, Carno and Lone land at Freeport.
Moderation: You are right thunder. However it takes time to load an arada with with 100 troops, especially when the Arada is already partially full of stolen goods. In my post, the aradas lifted off before loading all the troops to avoid the risk of being blown off and rescuing no troops. I leave the captured troops at 300. Pay the ransom if you like.
Carno, please change your post to less of an award unless you get Nova6 to sponsor it. ------------- Continuation: After realizing that he was too late, daedalus took off. He hailed an entering ships that had seen the zodiac and said that it was heading for Zacha. Daedalus had a fast ship and the engines had been repaired during its stay Zidagar. He took off following the Zodiac and eventually passed it.
The Zodiac was entering a system when it came accross and SOS from an escape pod. The sensors officer reporting a small debri field from a resently exploaded ship. The escape pod hailed the Zodiac requesting assistance.

Daedalus, I have plenty of money for the reward that I will give to the pilots who help me. If I get all the pilots I want ,which will hopefully be you, Arada Pilot, the captain of the LoneIgadzra who doesn't need as much pay, and Lonevoinian, it only 4 pilots, and one of them doesn't need as much, so the total would be only 3.8 million. Easy to afford because I got 30 million from Nova6 already. Also, Daedalus, I have a very workable plan to easily capture back my parents, so are you going to join us or do you have another plan? Oh, by the way, try to get the Zodiac into the Nifal system. I can't explain now.
OK, since you got the 30 mil. I will assume that the rest of the post was a transmission. Unfortunately I am in an escape pod and can't reply long range. My characters knows to try and get the Zodiac to the Nifal system though. I always carry a broad band reciever with me, and I know my encryption code.
Well, actually, only 20 million. Nova6 just informed me of a change in the payment for the Phase Beamers. However, I still have plenty of credits. Oh, and good luck in your efforts to get the Zodiac into the Nifal system. If you can't, try to get it into the DSN-7962 system (in the Ji Nebula).
The Azdgari Emporer accepts your request.
i will send 3 AW's to help retrieve his parents.
------------------ Is the answer to this question 'no'?
Thanks, Buba. I am working on Darkstream but should be in for this conflict. I suppose Nova took my warning of funding to heart. But just in case, here's an update :). Without retrieving more funding, the Voinian empire will weaken if you reroute forces to Carnotaur's aid. From the looks of it you haven't, i'm only warning you.
CONTINUATION: Rooster: "Open a channel. Unidentified vessel, the Corocijak clan will make accomodations for you. Please stand by for us to set up a forcefield and filter." Aeshek: "What's all that for?" Rooster: "With our recent situation, do you even have to ask that?" Liam just looked slightly embarrassed and continued on his duties. The pilot's pod attached to one of the airlocks and he stepped out into the forcefield. It immediately filtered out a sidearm he held. Rooster: "I'd be happy to hear your story but i'm afraid i first have to ask you what happened."
------------------ It is not fear that will destroy you, but the absence of it.
(This message has been edited by roostersw (edited 01-22-2001).)
If i may laugh? The Zodiac alone could take two warships with it's upgrades and easily the remaining one with it's two warship escorts.
Thank you Arada Pilot. Send your three warships to Freeport. I am assembling my fleet there.
To Rooster: Sure. Laugh. I don't care. I'm not going to take you on in a head-to-head duel.
To Rooster Again: Your character has absolutely no knowledge of what Daedalus is trying to do. Your character also does not know what I am about to tell my pilots.
-------------------
When the captains of Carnotaur's two escort ships the Subterfuge and LoneIgadzra, and the three Azdgari pilots that Arada Pilot had sent met on Freeport, Carnotaur and Lonevoinian were already there. In a meeting room, Carnotaur explained their plan. This plan will require the utmost cooperation between pilots and the carrying out of orders completely without flaw. First, we must lure Rooster, the Zodiac, to the Nifal system. There, we have detected a Class 9 Omega Protostar, one of only 20 in the known galaxy. This star will be instrumental in our plan.
Class 9 Omega Protostars have an unusal gravimetric field and energy flux in the stars core phase variance. My scientists on S-570 have theorized that if a Tachyon beam pulse, directed at the exact core of a Class 9 Omega Protostar, the tachyon pulse would become inverse and fly out of the star in the opposite direction. If this inverse pulse was directed at an enemy vessel, the results would be astonishing.
The vessel that is hit by an Inverse Tachyon Pulse* will instantly be disabled. All power systems would be shorted out, all weapon systems would be shorted out, the primary coolent matrix would be destroyed, the main generator would be disabled, the hyperdrive system would be partially destroyed, the main sub-light engines would be disabled and heavily damaged, and the main computer processing unit would be destroyed. Overral, the ship would be completely disabled and without power. Another interesting affect of an Inverse Tachyon Pulse is that it knocks all personnel unconscious. However, we have discovered that Voinians and Emalgha are mysteriously unseseptable to these affects.
Weved already built the Tachyon Beam Pulse Emitter, and Nova6 is sending over a layer of Bronov Plating to reinforce this emitter. Now, I must tell you one thing: what we are doing with this Tachyon Beam usually cannot be used. Only Class 9 Omega Protostars can be used, and normal Tachyon Beams do nothing to ships. We are only using this method because of the circumstances.
Now, here is the plan. First, we must get Rooster and the Zodiac into the Nifal system. Then, the three Azdgari warships that Arada Pilot sent will chase the Zodiac towards the protostar. Meanwhile, Lonevoinian will be in close orbit around the Nifal Protostar. We need Lonevoinian to do this because his dreadnaught is the only ship that can withstand the emense gravimetric, energy, and heat stresses put on it by the protostar. Lonevoinian, with the tachyon emitter, will stay on the side of the protostar opposite to the Zodiac.
Meanwhile, the Red October will be to the right of the Zodiac, in cloak, and the Subterfuge and LoneIgadzra will be on the Left on the Zodiac, also under cloak. When the Zodiac moves into the correct position, our ships, including the three Azdgari warships, will move into special positions so the Zodiac cannot escape. Because of the protostar the Zodiac will also be unable to go to hyperspace.
When the Zodiac reaches this position, Lonevoinian will fire the beam into the center of the protostar. The beam will become inverse, fly out the opposite side, and hit the Zodiac, disabling it. Then, the Subterfuge and three Azdgari warships will board the Zodiac and get Rene and Intimidator. However, once the weapon is fired, all Lonevoinians weapons and main propulsion will be disabled. The Red October and LoneIgadzra will have to tow it away.
Understood?
All the captains nodded.
"Good. Now we must wait to see if Daedalus can get the Zodiac into the Nifal system.

After thinking for a second, Thunder answers, "You've got a deal. Perhaps you can help us resolve a hostage situation that seems to come up. It will involve an attack on the Renegade outpost in the Mavs system, so there should be some renegade plunder in it for you too..."
The unidentified man relates what happened and his story, he was still shaky from the experience of near death: Thank you for picking me up. I thought I was a goner. I was travelling through the Nifal system and discovered the infamous Renegade ship, Wind Theif, it had a couple of escorts with it and appeared to be badly damaged and under going repairs. I remembered the 3 million credit award for its destruction along with its captain Daedalus give out by the Zacha, I was headed for zacha when 3 cresent fighters caught up with me from behind and blew up my ship.
Personally I am an explorer. Or at least i like to think of myself as one. I don't like to get into danger but I thought I might be able to make some money. Maybe we could split the reward if you destroyed the Wind Thief. I only want 200,000 or so. What do you say?
To Thunder: Attack Mavs? Good luck. You'll need the credits you plunder to pay for your fleets funeral. Mavs is the Renegade Alliance's main staging platform, and thus there would be at least 8 or 10 ships in the system at all times, and most of them being warships. Also don't forget the 20 warships that Nova6 gave Daedalus. They are probably sitting in the Mavs system waiting for you to try to attack it.
