I have not experienced this "rampant button mashing", but I think that's generally what happens with bosses in most games.

Also, Aquaria is very awesome

Aquaria is awesome. I played and finished the demo before I went on holiday's, having just got back I bought AQ it left that strong an impression ^_^

Wish I had more time to play it.

Having played the story through. Aquaria is simply one of the best games I have ever played.
The atmosphere is so good that I often end up floating around listening to the music and looking at the gorgeous graphics.

Games like Aquaria are why I play games.

Granted, saying "This game is awesome" isn't exactly critical feedback, but I'm sure that the ego-stroke isn't unwelcome.
