format?
so I mistakenly posted this in the EVO board, just cause it involves only those ships, but here's my question: The EVO ship models are available here, and I've gotten them before, and they open up easily on my old Mac using Infini-D. That was over two years ago. I've since been forced to purchase a cheap computer for school (obviously a PC). Basically I'd like to open up those same ship models on the PC, but no program I have will import them (Lightwave 8, Maya 6.5, Amorphium). This leads me to the simple conclusion that they're actual Infini-D files, not just an exported version of the models. I'm really rambling on here, and I do apologize, but basically I'd like to open them, Infini-D's been discontinued, and I don't even know if they ever released a PC version of the software. I know Carrara's kind of the next generation program released after Infini-D, but I don't know if it'd open the old file types. And I'm still talking. If anyone could help me out though, that'd be great. I'm gonna stop. Thanks for the input.
How big is that download? I have two computers, one will allow me on the site and one won't, unfortunately the one that won't is the one with fast internet. I can't look at it, but I'll try to be as helpful as possible:
As far as I know, there is no Microsoft version of Infini-D or Carrara for Microsoft, however I may be wrong, so don't give up. As soon as I can get my hands on the files I will be able to be more helpful.
Also, try to find another source for the files, there may be a Microsoft version of the files available at another location.
If you are really desperate, you could always get a Mac emulator for your PC, and if you already have one (which you might, if you're doing EVO stuff. Is there a Windows version of EVO? I wouldn't know) than this might be the best route-- Just try to find an old version of Infini-D and use the emulator.
I might be able to help more with more information.

No, only the EVO port for Nova.

OK, good, I'm glad, I would have felt really out of touch if it had been the case. I expected it was the Nova Port.

Check the size for yourself.

Yeah, they're Infini-D files. I'd suggest either getting a cheap Mac or emulator and Infini-D (since you say you once had it), or possibly Carrara, which does have a Windows version.
Back when Carrara was first out (and it sucked), I tried it since it was the evolution of Infini-D and RayDream. It could import Infini-D models, minus textures, and I'm not sure if it kept parenting and boolean hierarchies...this was a long time ago. No guarantees from me whether it can still do anything with Infini-D files.
I appologize, I tried, I can't.

It's 1.32 MB.

alright, I'll get Carrara for the PC, see if that has any luck with the files. If not, then I've gotta go back to my 8500 ...
I do have a really old copy of Infini-D on my PC...I haven't tried opening the models here (I've only done so on my old Mac), but when I get some spare time, I could try exporting them...
You might want to send me a reminder or something via e-mail; I haven't been too good at following the forums too well lately.
